The worst restaurant ever! Ruined my whole trip in Salzburg. Well, I have made a reservation via…read moretheir email address. In about half an hour I've received a confirmation where my reservation was confirmed. So I thought that a birthday surprise for my lovely girlfriend was partially ready a part from the main gift. The next day when we came to restaurant the hostess or whoever this woman was said that they have never received our reservation. Well, I had that confirmation with me and I've showed it to her. So she left without saying anything. In about 10 minutes some of their workers comes to us and says that international guest are not welcomed here and that we have to leave the restaurant immediately. When I've asked him to explain me in English why they are not letting us in, because we have a reservation for today and there is a plenty of space. His answer was that they won't talk to me in English, because it is Austria and they speak German only. After no explanation he started to push me and my girlfriend to the exit. WTH!! At the end of the day it's called the Austrian hospitality. Ruined my girlfriends birthday and the whole day for us.

World of Asia is a relatively new all you can eat restaurant in Salzburg. It is a total (and kinda…read morerude) copy of Cooking Khan but with an extra bit of quality and style. You pick raw ingredients and a sauce and get your plate served after everything has been cooked for you in an open kitchen. The products are always fresh and the selection is huge. The interior is elegant but unfortunately not in perfect condition any more. Reservations are necessary especially in the evenings. Good quality at a premium price! it's worth it!

I just read this one star review "huy is salzburg's latest copy-cat concept of the cooking khan…read moremonglian bbq. the choices of ingredients are similar. in addition there are some typical chinese dishes (all prepared) at the buffet as well (pretty cold tho). pick your ingredients, add a sauce of your choice and leave the plate at the show-kitchen. you will have it served back to your table right when it is done. staff there are very fast and friendly, the food quality is really poor tho. everything is fried, dripping in oil and cold. even if the buffet price is slightly cheaper than cooking khan or world of asia, it's not worth it...." I disagree. I mean, what do you expect from a buffet that offeres fresh scampi, beef filet and a (small) variety of sushi for less than $20? It's not the Ritz, but I went there again and again, and liked it better that the World of Asia that the other critic suggests. I managed to sleep in a hotel next door to the World of Asia (which restricts how often you may pick scampi or filet) - and still drove the 20+ mins to the Huy. That should say it all. Whatever you chose, you will be well fed for a small amount of money.

Food - self service for dinner Choice of 4 entrees (I…read morebelieve the menu is changed every day but all dishes are either vegan or organic) For the main dish I tried the vegan chili with couscous, potatoes and rice as add-ons. Portion was ample for one person and in the end I had to ask them to box the rest for take-away (which they happily did). For dessert I tried a flourless almond chocolate cake (yummy but a bit dry for my taste). All desserts are cakes or muffins. But each has a story to it - tiramisu is sugarless and there is one cake which is olive oil based. Drinks - Quite a good variety of drinks - beer, wine, coffee and fresh juice. I had fresh fennel-apple-lemon juice. Was very refreshing and I could smell and taste the ingredients. Although a bit sweet for my taste but overall a very nice drink. Ambience - nice, calm and casual for a quiet dinner. Lighting is dim and relaxing to the eyes Service - cheerful, friendly, no-rush attitude. Bonus for me was that they have English speaking staff. They were very willing to help in order for me to make a choice with the dishes, drinks and dessert. And also to box my remaining food as take-away. Pro - good service, calm relaxed ambience, tasteful food Con - a slight bit expensive for what the restaurant offers. For my dinner: Entree ~11, Juice ~5, Dessert ~4 Recommend this restaurant if you are local. I am looking forward to try out the buffet next time I am here.

12 euros for a small portion of pre made food with mediocre taste. Staff was very friendly though.read more
