We were not sure what to expect from this community collaboration and it is an excellent collection of artifacts and information. The floor plan is roughly shaped like a "P". We almost passed a whole section so be sure to walk down the side aisle. A guest room has been recreated using salvaged items from an actual guest accommodation. Photos of businesses in their prime. The history of how a tent with cots eventually became a fist class hotel. One area goes over roads made of dirt and organizers trying to get better roads installed. Historical maps show early roadways in different parts of the country. The Ozark Trail association played a large part in updating roads in MO that eventually became part of Rt. 66. Information on the 'Bloody Highway' include mass murderers and sad accidents. You'll also find info on the'Will Rogers Highway'. Room keys, matchbooks, post cards, souveniers. So much very interesting information about who was involved in the creation of Rt. 66, how it was consteucted, how businesses changed through the decades and more. You can quickly walk thru, look at the many recreated full scale business models and photos, or spend a couple hours reading all the information. Free of charge. Donations welcomed.

The cafe space is no longer in use by the coffee cafe but this library still has a lot going for it. There are multiple meeting/ community rooms and reading lounges. The children's library is huge and every librarian that I spoke with was so helpful and nice. Desks, tables and armchairs are all over the place. It's wonderful here.

My visit started out fine. A kind employee helped me locate a pencil sharpener. However, around…read more4:30 pm today, an EMS crew with a stretcher hovered around a woman sitting at a computer. She hadn't been bothering anyone, making sounds, or causing any issues. She was just sitting there. They proceeded to ask her questions about how she was feeling, what day it was, etc. She was talking coherently but the three EMS employees and a library employee had her circled for at least 15 minutes after taking her vitals and wouldn't leave her alone. Obviously I don't know what happened. But I saw them wheel her into the ambulance. Beware if you're having an off day, or act a little eccentric. You may end up taking a thousands-of-dollars little ride if you don't answer questions to someone else's liking. Disturbing and uncalled for.

The Brentwood Branch Library is a nice fit for folks (like my mom) who do not want to use the huge branches like The Station or The Center. Even though it is smaller, it has a good selection of children's books, a children's reading program and a decent number of computers for public use. There are a lot of people in our community who depend on the library's public access computers. There's free Wi-Fi and numerous tables to work from. The employees are also very knowledgeable and eager to assist. I gave only 4 stars because the resources are less than some of the larger libraries in Springfield. Truly - I'm a fan!

The library is spacious and well designed with a dedicated teen area and there's also a children's library and a separate reading "room". For those who need them, there are plenty of computers throughout. I love the library and so far, have been to libraries in 6 different states and I'm so impressed and pleased with Springfield's library designs, so much valuable space for public use and all of the programs offered.

I've taken computer classes there, been coached in the use of their 3-D printer, and assembled important papers via their printer, scanner and Fax machines. Time and again their helpful staff has aided in finding and assembling the research and grant information that I need - To top it all off, the Midtown Library has a Community Refrigerator with free fresh food !
