But found XP Fitness and I'm super glad I did. The owner quickly got me set up with a day pass and made it clear his goal was for the gym to be inclusive and welcoming to everyone regardless of your fitness goals. Really friendly and kind. He showed me to the powerlifting room which had all kinds of bars, power bars, competition bench, Thompson fat pads, platforms, and rogue power racks (and chalk!). The gym was clean, had great machines selections (always excited to see a belt squat). Would 100% recommend this gym to anyone looking. Wish I had this gym near my own home town! I've had some very bad experiences with some so called trainers, only to find out that they went through a two week training class. Melanie has made personal training her life's work. It's a comfort to me that she has not only been Certified as an ELITE trainer, but that she's also taught about her craft at the college level. Her upbeat, caring attitude and her amazing skills and knowledge make her tops of my list. Sorry to see her move away.. but I know she will be a gift to the people of Hilton Head.

I have been using the players club fitness center for years when I come to my condo. They have not…read moreupdated or done anything with this facility in a good 15+ years. It's obvious there is no upkeep on the machines and most of them are corroded due to the humidity. Some of the machines won't even work because they're so corroded. I'm pretty sure the lat pulldown machine was broken last year in 2023, and it's still sitting there broken. Panels are falling off the walls, and nothing has been updated. It's really sad. When I started coming here years ago, they used to have water aerobics classes and group fitness classes. The group fitness room is now just a storage room. For as much as we pay for our condo maintenance fees, you would think that they would update or maintain this facility a little bit. I'm glad I at least had something to use while I was on vacation but that's about it. If you are a serious gym goer, this place will make you laugh. The front desk staff are always friendly, but the center is dingy dark and smells like a high school locker room. Please do something to update or maintain this facility. It could be decent.

I needed a place to work out on my recent vacation to Hilton Head and the gym at the Players Club…read moreResort was the closest and the cheapest to the house that we rented in Sea Pines. The gym is located just a couple of minutes outside of the lower gate (N. Sea Pines Drive) near the intersection of Cordillo Parkway and Deallyon Road. I bought the weekly pass for $30, but you can also buy a 2 day pass for $20 or a 1 day pass for $12. The gym was serviceable for being on vacation, but it is not a gym that I would join on a long-term basis. The gym has all of the weight and cardio machines that you need, but they fit as many of them as possible into their space, and as a result, the machines are uncomfortably close together. One day I was on the stationary bike and the dude next to me shook his head and his sweat landed on my arm. Another day, also while on the stationary bike, a lady got on the bike next to me and she smelled like wild yams. On the flip side, I never had to wait for a machine or cardio equipment because of the fact that they were packed in there. There is one set of free weight dumbbells that has all the weights from 2 to 70 lbs or so. All of the weight machines are functional and are Nautilus circa early 2000s. There are many different machines to work every muscle group. All and all, I would come back this gym on my next visit to the island, but I'm glad I don't have to come here every day.
