Definitely not doing business with Controlled Irrigation or buying a Goulds pump in the future. Less than 2 years after Controlled Irrigation installed a new sprinkler pump, the pump failed. I had Controlled Irrigation come out to tell me I needed a new pump. The price less than 2 years ago was $850 and now more than $1,250. While I understand that the warranty is only 1 year, I called and asked why is this pump already failing and what could have been done to prevent this, as I don't plan to buy a pump every other year after the warranty runs out. I was told "Pumps need to be serviced, like a car." When I asked what that means, the service person didn't know enough to elaborate, but was able to say that "We offer a service plan." I replied that that is ridiculous and also that was not suggested or offered at the time of purchase. This pump was offered basically with a $600 installation fee and little confidence that it will last much more than a year without an additional "service plan". read more

If I could put 0 stars I would. Worst company ever I called them because I was referred but Rain Bird. My sprinkler not working and my grass is turning yellow. Someone came. Wasn't even sure how long the person was here because I didn't see anything happen. Then I got a text saying job was done. And I called back and asked them like what happened since I didn't see any one. She start to tell me all this stuff that's wrong. And I'm confused because this a new construction house, was finished in June 2022. So I said I'm sorry maybe I called the wrong number because we have warranty for anything that was put on the house. She said well there's still a charge. I said No one said to me about having a charge. She said that they always tell people they have a charge. So I asked then can I hear the recording of my conversation because I do no remember any one saying that. She starts to YELL to me telling me she the owner and she know exactly who I talked to. And that I have to pay her $75. If not she will put a LIEN on my house lol. That NO ONE COMES TO DO ANY JOB FOR FREE. Ma'am I'm not paying you Sh*t. You and your company can go eat sh*t. Not at all reliable. Called to have my irrigation pump replaced, appointment set for a week later on a Thursday, received a call at appointment time, sorry pump did not come in (yeah right) but I agreed to reschedule for Monday. Again right around my appointment time today, I received a call, sorry truck broke down !!! I understand things happen, however no type of compensation was offered after I took time off from work 2 days just to have Controlled Irrigation call to cancel with very poor excuses. Look around, there are many irrigation companies out there that care about their customers and truly want your business Great you have been in business 20 years, obviously that has nothing to do with the terrible service I received, a simple apology or call from management would have been nice and you are still not accepting responsibility for poor customer service. read more

I contacted this business to get a quote for the drilling of a residential irrigation well and the installation of a pump. For the first appointment they cancelled. For the second appointment, they went to a home down the street but never called me to find out that they had written down the wrong address. On the third appointment the representative could not answer my questions and seemed unfamiliar with aspects of the process. It turns out they sub-contract their drilling and electrical work. Representative said he would have his electrical contractor stop by. Never heard back. read more

Thank you Ed and whole crew. Everyone was very professional and courteous to us. My irrigation system was installed in 2011 but to save money Ed recommended I use the original motor, pump and bladder that installed on a previous system. It was time to replace those components, and reset the 4 zones and sprinkler heads. Ed Jr did all the work and very efficiently. Together we went thru the whole system and when he left I felt assured that my iriigation system was back in service for another 10 or 20 years. Great job guys! Thank you very much. I'd like to preface this review by mentioning that I'm 42 years old and I've experienced my share of mediocre to poor service from companies before. However, this is the first time I've been moved to take time out of my day to write a bad review. The customer service was THAT bad. I've used this company in the past for small jobs (repairing one sprinkler head, etc.) without any issues. However, I recently used them for a larger $600 job that involved replacement of the timer and repairing multiple sprinkler heads. I was highly disappointed with the way this business is run. First, I was charged $75 for the technician to walk to the side of my house and glance at my broken timer to see what model was needed to replace it. This couldn't have taken more than 60 seconds. I originally assumed that the $75 service fee would be applied to the whole job. This is how every other repair related company I've ever used has run their business, but Controlled Irrigation chooses to nickel and dime their customers. When I expressed my surprise about this charge, the owner raised her voice, talked over me and told me that she had explained all of this to me already. She stated that she must be in the wrong business if I expect her to "work for free", disregarding the fact that I paid $600 for the job to be completed. I've never experienced such poor customer service. My other issue is that this company only allots small 1 to 2 hour time slots for their technicians, so my 4 hour job took 3 separate visits to complete...all of them scheduled a week apart. If you have a very small job to complete, you may have no issues with this company. If you do have a problem or need to question something about the billing, prepare to be met with aggression and defensive statements from the owner about how she must be in the right because she has managed to "run this business for 30 years." read more

The owner Ashley is COMPLETELY unprofessional. I called her for follow up question on an invoice for work they did at my house yesterday since a repair needed to be completed after they serviced my house a month ago. She hung up the phone on me TWICE & yelled a me stating I do not pay my bills which is an outlandish lie. I asked to speak to her boss & she stated she is the boss. She also threatened to put a LIEN today on my house for not paying a bill I only received TODAY. The guys who serviced my house completed work than jetted off without explaining to me what happened. I had to try to track them down. They were here for 1 hr & I was charged for 2 hours of service with a measly 10% discount on what should have been inspected better in the first visit. I do not recommend this company as they clearly do not know customer service & ASHLEY needs therapy for her anger issues. No one should hang up & yell at a customer who had a follow up question like that. EVER. read more

The installation went well, so I thought. Three weeks after the installation the whole system stopped working. There was a wire that was not buried deep enough(laying just under the mulch in one of my beds). My lawn maintenance company severed the wire when the were edging around the bed. Instead of taking responsibility as any professional company should they insisted that it was my maintenance peoples fault. This resulted in a $400.00 plus repair bill. If you request anything from this contractor, make sure to keep all the records pertaining to it. They were contacted for a "free estimate" on adding some sprinklers and I wanted my water tested to prevent any stains on my concrete. They came out and while there they noticed and repaired a small leak in the sprinkler pipe. After it was fixed, another leak occurred that wasn't previously there moments before. It took them a less than 15 minutes to fix both as it only required funny pipe and alot of the pipe is visible in the yard so they didnt have to dig holes to locate the leaks and make repairs. After they couldn't find my well, they took a sample of water from the sprinkler in a water bottle and told me they would test it. Also, after walking the guy around and showing him where we wanted new sprinklers, he informed me his dad would have to generate the pricing. He would take pictures and describe to his dad the requested setup. However, I was informed the dad wanted to come back out. I said they could access the property and the son could talk him through what I already did. That was denied. I offered to do it in the evening or weekend but that too was denied. I could not take another day off work to deal with it so we decided to go with another company. Two months pass and I get an almost $300 dollar bill from them. Since I refuse to pay that amount they knocked the bill down to half. I still disagree with a 160 bill for a "free estimate" that was never received. I have no problem paying for the work that was completed in the leaks they noticed but not for the items that were not. Now they filed an invalid Claim of Lien on my house and it is one nightmare after another with them. If it wasn't for the rude and unprofessional office manager maybe things could get resolved but she refuses to let me speak to anyone else, her words exactly "my dad is the owner and he is on a commercial site and working on a job that matters and doesn't have time to deal with customers like you". I even have security cameras that prove everything that I am saying but it went in one ear and out the other. Wow! read more
