This really is a horrible, dingy little shop. Seriously, it has absolutely nothing to recommend it. It's just down the road from my house and I still never go there, though I was forced to pop in the other day to grab a quick bite due to being locked out of my house.
I was sure I'd be able to find something palatable and vaguely fresh but they have absolutely nothing to offer. They have no refrigerator so no sandwiches, pasties or cold drinks. Also, they don't sell papers (unless you count the Evening Post). All they have is rows and rows of tinned and packet foods in a setting that makes Arkwright's look futuristic. Also, though something may have been lost in translation, I didn't find the staff particularly friendly. I grabbed a token purchase (tinned, naturally) to illustrate that I wasn't a shoplifter and got out pronto. read more
