Contemporary Dentistry provided me with consistently poor care and refused to take responsibility for their mistakes. When my daughter was examined years ago, they diagnosed her with nine cavities. Her regular dentist found only three. More troubling was my own experience. In two thousand seventeen, I paid ten thousand dollars to have eight caps installed on my front teeth, replacing laminates I had worn successfully for twenty years without a single problem. Since then, I've returned approximately twenty times because these new caps repeatedly fell off. Each time, they attempted to charge me fifty dollars to reattach them, only backing down when I voiced my concerns firmly. The replacement cap they eventually installed doesn't even match the color of the original seven. My dentist was Doctor Julie. She was always friendly at first, but the moment I asked whether I would be charged for replacing the cap, her demeanor changed and she became rather ugly. Most recently, I underwent a root canal so they could place a utility cap on my tooth. However, when I came in for that procedure and also asked them to glue back on another cap that had fallen off, I complained about the situation. Rather than help me, Contemporary Dentistry refused to place the utility cap and told me to go somewhere else. This office shows a pattern of substandard work, repeated failures, and an unwillingness to stand behind their dentistry or support their patients. We have had the same dentist for over thirty years now. But when it came to looking into some dental implants we needed to go elsewhere. Then it became a search for a dentist office that accepts our dental plan and Contemporary Dentistry checked all the right boxes for consideration. So we called and set up an appointment for an initial consultation and information about plan coverage, costs, and what is involved with getting implants. We arrived early and had been instructed that once we were here, we should text them and then wait in our car. After fifteen minutes no one texted us back so we called them and were told to come in. After initial Covid questions and a temperature check we were directed to use a laptop set up in the waiting room to sign in and confirm medical information before going in for our appointment. Staff were pleasant and attentive throughout this process and the facilities were clean and comfortable. They called us back to explain and discuss plans and take a new set of X-Rays to see what needs to be done and what it will take and costs. They figure out how much if anything will be paid by insurance and discounts and also offer financing choices. Now we just need to digest all of this information and make some decisions. read more

This is my only Yelp review, because I usually think they can be unfair and too critical, but I feel very strongly about these people and the damage they cause. People need to be warned about this. These people are everything wrong with the medical profession. The pushed my father on invisalign he did not need, and caused him to grind his teeth...including when awake...which he never did before. Now they are raking in money treating that, with no results by the way. When they made a crown wrong....in a way that caused me pain...they completely dismissed it ant said I could get a new one for full price, completely ignoring their roll. Multiple times I or family members have had to go back to pay more after the bill was paid, because they miscalculated. They have zero sympathy for patients that may be having trouble economically, and need some better payment options. Not free or a discount mind, just some breathing room until a paycheck arrives. They prey on people in need. If there is any justice in this world Bazzi will be sued into oblivion. They are everything wrong with the medical industry. I got my braces here when I was in high school (about a decade ago) and I remember people were nice and my teeth were successfully straightened. But, when my braces were removed, I was left with discolored squares on my teeth that I spent the last 10 years thinking were a result of my 15 year old self being skimpy with brushing. I went to a dentist for a routine cleaning yesterday, at the age of 25, and cracked a joke about these squares on my teeth and the dentist was horrified--"You've been smiling for 10 years with cement?" He told me that a lot of cement was left on my teeth from where my braces were. I was very confused. But, apparently, the squares on my teeth left after braces were a result of Contemporary Dentistry not removing the cement that had been used to hold my braces together. I have been so insecure about this for a decade, trying to white my teeth but noticing that the squares always remained. The dentist was able to spend 10 minutes and remove every last piece of cement that were never removed. I never considered the possibility of cement, as its pure negligence to not remove it. Anyways, if you get braces here, please remind them to remove the cement off your child's teeth. You don't know what you don't know, especially at 15 years old, and I don't want anyone else to go through a decade of insecurity and barely smiling with your teeth opened for what could be fixed in 10 minutes. read more

I have been going here for a few years now (well over 10 visits a year). I notified staff members that I suffer from PTSD. I asked them to be a little more aware on how they approach me when communicating. There are 2 staff members who repeatedly go out of their way to make sure your visit is not the most pleasant. They talk down to you like you are beneath them, no matter how nice and forgiving you are to them. Their tone of voice is condescending, they will turn it around to play victim or provide excuses. My worst dental experience in years! Being sent here after my dentist of 10 plus years retired, I had high hopes for an easy 6 month cleaning. Wrong! After the hygienist scrapped my teeth until hitting the nerves for an hour and taking endless X-Rays it was time to see the actual Dentist. She basically tore apart my entire dental health and should have just suggested a gut out of my mouth and adding a new one at this point, also insisting that I grind my teeth and need a mouth guard, which I have never done in my life! Going to my former dentist, he would always say I had great teeth and gums, here they are telling me I'm borderline gum disease in my 30's! After selling me basically every service they have to offer and handing me a $1500 bill, needless to say I WILL NOT be returning!!!!! read more

I have never experienced something like I did at this office. I came in initially because I needed a couple root canals done. I explained that I have anxiety with dentists from my past, and at first they were very understanding. I had my root canal done, and 3 days after it was still hurting horribly. I went back, the dentist I saw was almost upset that I was complaining that I was still in pain. She told me she had no idea what to do, and sent me away to an oral surgeon. After a quick consult with them, he found that she totally missed an entire canal of the tooth she did a root canal on. I had an infection, so he re did the root canal and packed it with antibiotics, shortly after this, the tooth cracked. They send me back to contemporary, and they pulled the tooth, while they were pulling the tooth, they knocked a crown off of one of my other teeth. I came in 2 days later because my incision site was throbbing, hot and very sore, and I needed to have my crown adjusted. They didn't even look at the incision site. I just got back from the ER, where they had to give me 2 bags of IV antibiotics and send me to another oral surgeon to further evaluate. I am so disappointed and upset with the work I've had done, the amount of money I have spent, and the attitude I received from the dental assistant and the dentists here. Just go somewhere else. I've been coming here for years and have had nothing but great experiences. My kids go here and not only for general dentistry, but for orthodontics as well. I've always felt that every person that works at Contemporary looks out for our best interest and actually cares. I've recommended that others go to Contemporary and all have been extremely happy. You can't make everyone happy but before you listen to the people here posting bad reviews, maybe consider that there more people that love this practice, or they would not be where they are today. best experience I have ever had at a Dental office. Kindness and smiles abound. Full understanding to levels of my wussness and reassuring words that all would go smooth. State of the art facility, fantastic toys that this tech exec found fascinating. My procedure went smooth with no drama at all. I was in an out, attended promptly at my appointment time. My dentist retired and sold his practice to Contemporary Dentistry. On my first visit I was told I needed a bite guard to wear at night but that they wouldn't make it until I had all of my fillings replaced. Although I was having NO issues with my fillings I agreed to let them replace them all so I could get my bite guard. Within months, 2 of the fillings they put in have broken. Again - I had NO problems with my old fillings, but now have broken fillings. They also left a large black spot on one tooth that became obvious when they pulled a baby tooth I had. I went back in to inquire as to why they didn't fix it when they refilled that tooth. The dentist looked and informed me that it was a stain and not a cavity. However, when I went in a couple months later for a cleaning and saw a different dentist, I was told it was a cavity that needed to be filled. So they wanted to charge me to fill that cavity...that should have been filled when they originally refilled that tooth. Not sure which dentist is correct, but don't feel comfortable with their service if they don't know a cavity from a stain. Will be looking for another dentist to fix the broken fillings and fill the cavity. Have no confidence in Contemporary Dentistry anymore. read more

Cleaning teeth in Contemporary Dentistry Canton Michigan is the worst cleaning experience in my life. The appointment started at about 9 o'clock. The hygienist did not start cleaning my teeth until 10:13, but the cleaning was very fast, and the hygienist did not floss my teeth. The cleaning work ended at 10:23. Within ten minutes of cleaning the teeth, the hygienist checked her watch three times. The skill of the hygienist is really poor. During the cleaning process, she touched my lips many times with a tartar scraper tool and my lips bleed a lot. She also dropped cleaning tools to the ground. read more

They will have you believe that you need very expensive procedures because of "gum disease" and LIE and MISLEAD you into believing that these procedures are backed by data, when they are in fact not. I have completely lost trust in these dentists. All health professionals are supposed to be patient advocates and council their patients into doing what's best for their health. STAY AWAY!!! Went in for a routine exam and cleaning. It had been two years since I last went to the dentist. To my surprise, they told me that I needed deep cleaning to cure serious gum disease, that all my existing fillings had decay, and that there where 12 cavities. They used a bunch of fancy equipment to show me pictures as part of their one and a half hour sales pitch. The final straw was when the person that was supposed to do the cleaning tried to tell me that I had never had a root canal in one of my teeth and took and extra set of x-rays to try and show me. Believe me, I know I had a root canal. Anyone that has ever had one knows it isn't something you would be mistaken about. After that, I politely said goodbye and left. Never did manage to get my cleaning that I came in for. These folks are either incompetent, dishonest or maybe both. FYI. I don't even know where to start. Unprofessional, bills insurance for services they didn't provide, dentist gets mad at you if your in pain. They continuously messed up insurance claims for over the last year even though I made it crystal clear what form needed to be completed, sent where, and did all of my own follow ups with insurance for approvals. Then I get to the care... I had a crown done on upper left. It has fallen out twice and they had to put it back in. Then they did prep work for 2 crowns on upper right side even though I complained of slight pain on lower left side. Prep work cause excruciating pain for days.... I went back in the worst pain of my life and like another reviewer, dentist was annoyed and couldn't do anything. Said I pry should have had root canal. Well root canals were approved why didn't they do them if I needed them? A week later a called to reschedule my apt for the crowns because I was still in so much pain and couldn't tolerate their half ass work to put me in pain for another week. They asked me to come in for an. XRay to see if there was an infection but instead I went in for the dentist to tell me the only way to fix it was for her to do more drilling. She didn't care how much pain I was or that she was going to cause more damage. So now I have called the office for 2 days and it says the person I am trying to reach cannot be connected, all the half ass work they did on my right side of my mouth and telling to me eat on my left side only (after two weeks) has caused a filling on the left to crack and come out. So not I need my filling fixed, 2 root canals, a crown fixed, and they won't even schedule my filling or cleaning at all. Even my insurance asked me to get a second opinion and then they will follow up on 30 days to see if they should even be networked for care since there have been so many mistakes but most of all you can walk in fine and walk out with the worst toothache of your life read more

Colleen made me feel welcomed and was super friendly. She answered all my questions and concerns! The rest of the staff was also awesome. If I could give less than one star I would, just don't stay as far away as you can, this review has been a long time coming. My mom and I used to go to Contemporary Dentistry prior to them changing locations and at first it was great, but that didn't last. My first traumatic experience was as when I went in for an appointment and they said I had an impacted molar (it was coming in sideways) and they said it had to be removed due to it pushing my other teeth (I had gotten my braces taken off a while prior) and I told them how nervous I was and they told me they could put me under for the next appointment I hitch I was very relieved about. The day finally came and I went in for my appointment and they told me they were only going to use a few numbing shots I asked about what I was told previously and they said they don't do that for a removal. As I say in the chair and cried they started getting everything together around me and just let me sit there and sob (I had to have been around 16). When they did the numbing shots and asked if I could feel anything I said yes and they told me it was just "pressure" which it wasn't. I felt every cut and them taking my molar out, it was way more than just "pressure". As for my second traumatic experience I went in for a routine cleaning (at this point they hired a new behind the scenes team to help they up charge literally everything they did, I know this because my mom was friends with one of the receptionists at the time) they told me a 18 year old that "You have the teeth of a 60 year old woman" and I needed a mouth guard. On top of that being something you would never say to a teenage girl they told me insurance wouldn't cover most of it and my out of pocket would be $600. The kicker is before they hired the team my mom also was told she needed a mouth guard and our insurance covered the whole thing (we had the same insurance). Do not even bother with this place their doctors have no bedside manner and they are really doing some sketchy things behind the scenes for money. I know this is a long review but I am now 26 and I am terrified of the dentist, just save yourself the time and well-being. read more

I was looking for a dentist a little closer to home. I called their office in Canton to make an appointment. I called more than 10 times today. Every time I talked to someone, in the middle of our conversation, it would become silent either I don't hear them or they don't hear me. I know our calls were not disconnected. Anyway, I gave all my information to Nicole at the front desk including my SSN. I called back and talked to Theresa and she said it was Nicole who I was talking to. And then she put me on hold and I waited again for 5 minutes. So I decided to stop by their office to see what's going on. Maybe they were just too busy to take my calls, or there was something wrong with their phone. I walked in no one was in the lobby. I saw both of them. One person just kept on looking at her computer, did not acknowledge me. Both were very unfriendly. They really need customer service training. I will never go back here and refer this place to anyone. The building looks very nice from the outside but the front desk staff aren't nice. You may have the best dentist but your staff need training. You already lost me, my family and friends as customers. read more
