Poor service high prices. Great selection. Consumers always has great selection but as a customer i dont want to be talked down to and belittled. I was out shopping with my kid sister and stopped to buy a case a beer. I was talked down to because of a rule stating all members of a party need to show id. Rules are rules if i would have known i would not have gone in with her. But to talk down to me and make me feel like crap walking out left a really bad taste. I wont be shopping here again. I do not want to support staff that treats customers like a moron for not knowing the ins and outs. Im fine with gas station beer that is cheaper and closer to home. At least the gas station clerk doesnt make me feel stupid for bringing my family along shopping. read more

They have a big selection of craft and domestic beer. They have 6 packs of craft beer of one type of beer or you can make your own craft beer 6 pack with a small section of single bottles/cans. I wish they had more to choose from for this section and that it rotated to new beers frequently. I like trying new beers especially sours, stouts, porters and ciders so I usually go to craft beee shops for those. This is close to me so I go here sometimes. There are some of the rarer and newer beers available for like $5/$6 a can/bottle. Some are a little more. I am part of the growler club so you earn points when you fill your growler. You can use your own growler or purchase one there for cheap. There are 10 taps of craft beer and they always rotate. You can check the website to see what they have on tap. They let you taste them if you want as well. Some are more expensive than others. Some are cheap if it's been there a bit. They are usually $3.99-$14.99 for 32oz growler fill. I like the bright TVs that show the beers on tap with information about them. They also have a large selection of non alcoholic beverages like pop, juice, etc. They always have sales and those are in the flyer that comes in the mail. They also have snacks here. There is a bottle return area as well. The store is always clean and the staff is always friendly and efficient. read more

Whenever I'm in the area, I'll come here to buy some beer. Compared to prices in Toronto, the beer found at Consumer's is a steal. There is a parking lot on site; always a plus imho. Selection is limited compared to other liquor stores, but they always carry Corona so I'm not complaining. I'm a fan of Japanese beer, specifically Sapporo so I'll often ask the employee (who seems to always be the same person) if they carry it yet. Anyway, this has nothing to do with my rating of this place, but I always get a chuckle because he will refer to Sapporo as 'Shapiro.' As far as I know, there are no Shapiro's in Japan (well no natives with that name anyway) ... kekekeke. read more

Drinker's Drinks! I can't say enough about Consumer's Beverage! Boy are their alot of types' of beers! They have beers from all over the globe, including (but not limited to) Germany, China, Irish, French, Italain, and Texas! This is the only place I can find my Vernor's. I love Vernor's. Vernor's and a nice batch of brownes. Is Vernor a person? WHo would name their kid "Vernor?" "Come on, Vernor, time for school!" I bet he got beat up alot. Snacks and scratchoffs, too! read more

Last week I went to this store for the first time. I was visiting my ladyfriend's family in Buffalo. One of these family members had some Growlers from this location at our gathering and was telling me how great Consumer's Beverage was so I made sure to drop in for a visit. I was impressed by the selection and picked out a very interesting bottle of Unibroue beer that I had never tried before - Quel'que Chose. When I went to purchase the bottle of beer, the cashier asked for ID. As soon as he saw that my ID was from California he refused to sell beer to me - quoting the policy (which I confirmed is on the front door sign) that "NY State ID is required if you are 30 or under". That is all fine and good (though I'm not sure how legal - the cashier said it was NY state law) because I am 35 years old and my girlfriend is 41. We pointed this out to the cashier, he still refused to sell the bottle to me saying that since there was no manager around to confirm that our ID was valid he couldn't sell it to me. We both offered to show passports as well as our out of state ID and were still refused. He was essentially saying that no one from out of state could purchase alcohol at the store regardless of age. It was beyond ridiculous to imagine that this might be true. We paid for our other item, a 4 pack of Birch Beer, and left bewildered and frustrated. I am completely shocked and angered by this experience. I'm a beer enthusiast, a visitor to this area, and was enjoying looking at the impressive selection. However, the logic of the staff is completely confusing to me. Do 20 year olds with fake out of state IDs attempt to purchase a single bottle of expensive Canadian micro-brew with a fake ID that is 15 years off, and bring along a fake PASSPORT? I've worked in jobs where ID requests are frequent, and there is a certain judgment required by the staff. I can certainly imagine that a store which sells only alcoholic beverages will need to have higher standards, and will be the target of many youth trying to get away with a ruse. That was not the case in this circumstance and the way the incident was handled was completely wrong. When I pointed out to the employee that the sign on the door states that the 'NY state license' only applied to 30 and under and that we were 35 and 41 respectively he still refused and that's the point where it's just offensive to me. It leaves me looking for someone to explain where logic disappeared and plain old stubbornness and poor customer service began. read more

My experience here was nothing short of amazing. Every employee working said hello and asked if I needed help (which is rare in this day and age). Before finally picking my drink of choice after scouring the many isles of imported and independent beer companies, I was met with another employees recommendation of a beer that is "smooth but not overpowering as most pilsners can be" taking his advice we were very happy with our purchase. As we were paying, we had some questions about the beer mugs on the shelf behind the register.. But before we could ask for a price it was given to us free of charge and accompanied with "thank you for shopping at consumer beverage and have a good day folks". It's rare that I give 5 stars, but this place deserves 6. And DJ? You should make a run for the presidency buddy, you've got my vote. read more
