I could have stayed with extremely cheap rent for the rest of my life, but I could not deal with the landlord who worked right downstairs anymore and left with a settlement instead. He really cares and pays close attention to your case. I used an internet search to select an…read moreEstate-Probate law firm Russel Morgan Legal Group (MLG) P.C., New York, NY to advise how my deceased mother's only asset could be re-titled into the names of living heirs. Shared she died intestate, visiting in OK in 1991: her residence was NY. I paid $4,000 retainer for the administration of her estate (consisting only of real property in SC). Retainer was exhausted in preparation of a myriad of documents, which were submitted to Surrogates Court, and they ALL were rejected in Nov 2024 by the court. MLG in May 2025 said court rejected and removed the record because: "no assets in New York, proof of domicile is from 1951, need proof of domicile dated within a year of decedents death. No assets listed in New York, death certificate indicates decedent lived in Oklahoma." After court rejection MLG asked me to amend the death certificate to show NY as residence; Oklahoma officials said it could only be amended before 60 days after death certificate was issued. I was then strung along and chased leads to locating any acceptable documents confirming New York residency, which was not successful: I was unable to prove NY residency. Legal guidance from OK Bar Association said the court filings I needed should be administered in state where deceased's real property is located, not residence or death state. Didn't Morgan Legal Group know that? Why did I have to tell them that? After exhaustion of retainer, another $1,112.34 was charged for phone calls, emails, reviews, skip trace, etc.; then a final charge of $525.00 for preparation of Summary Memo and phone calls telling me to hire a South Carolina attorney instead. Thus, Morgan Legal Group bilked me for $5,637.34 for NO RESULTS. I feel I have been swindled by Russel Morgan Legal Group P.C.
