The best dips on the sampler were the ones with yogurt, in particular the cacik and the spinach yogurt. Our halloumi was good and squeaky. Our entrees came with salad and bread with yogurt and red pepper (I think) dips. The lamb kebab was wrapped in lavash but sadly was too lamby. I've had better. The chicken kebab was juicy and nicely cooked but also didn't stand out. The eggplant moussaka was okay but by then our group of three adults and two seven-year-olds had way too much food. The service was non-existent at the end of the meal and we waited forever for the check.

At first, I would've skipped it, as it looks like a bad imitation of how a restaurant would look. But then again, it was recommended, and we went. Best choice we couldve made. Friendly and easy going service. A lot of complimentery appetisers - salad, bread and some great sauces. We ordered different starters: Kisir, Halloumi and avocado, humus and lamb. All surprising tastes, all very good. Main dishes are also great. They know how to prepare chicken and lamb and the portions are not on the little side. So full, eventually, I sadly haven't had the chance to check out the deserts. Ordered a turkish coffee as a finishing touch... It was something - lets say - interesting. Never had it before, and I don't think I am the biggest fan. But the food, yes!

I've been here once before and remembered warm, genuinely friendly staff and delicious home cooked traditional Greek food. It was just as pleasant as I remembered...but we used a taste card, so it was cheap as chips! Even though we were getting 50% off our food bill, they still gave us a couple of free meze dishes (yummy beetroot and cannellini bean salads) Starters: Aubergine salad: This was garlicky and gorgeous with the hot pita bread. Hot mixed starter: this included dolmades (stuffed vine leaves), lountza (smoked fillet of pork), loukanika (little spicy sausage) and grilled haloumi. The loukanika was lovely, but it was the dolmades that blew me away! They were stuffed with meat as well as rice and you could tell they were made freshly. Yum. Spanikopita: This was a bit of a let-down. I normally looove spanakopita, but this one was a bit too oily for me. Main: We were stuffed after the starters, but somehow found space to share a dish of sheftalia. We ordered it because we had no idea what it was...and it turned out to be spicy (fragrant rather than hot) meaty sausages with rice. This was also looovely. The décor is a bit dated and the loo was freezing...but I would still recommend Karavas for a relaxing Greek meal. Tastecard saving: £11.55 - yay!

They were extremely gracious and made us feel like family. A really wonderful experience and we will be back to try the other delicious items on the menu.

The food was all super tasty, but we had so much leftover! Both of us had skipped lunch and were having early dinner, but we barely put a dent on the amount of food that arrived. As soon as we ordered, we were brought Turkish style bread lovingly buttered and 4 different dips (hummus, minty yoghurt, cheese and a tomato one). This itself would have been a sufficient meal for us both. The falafel came settled on a bowl of hummus. The side salad with the main arrived in a plate of its own.
