I had a very difficult child abuse/custody case over my son. I had evidence of child abuse and neglect happening in his moms house by his step father. The unfortunate side is, I live in Shoshone County Idaho and my son lives in Canyon County Idaho so everything was hearsay since people who knew the mother and step father were the ones to speak out. I spoke to numerous attorneys in the Canyon County area. Most were too expensive and said I would not win my case. They assumed I would fail and completely lose custody of my son. I refused to do nothing so I stayed Pro Se for the first year. It was difficult. I had to quickly study civil court, write affidavits, and gather as much evidence as possible. I did a good job for someone who has never done that before but not good enough. I ended up hearing about Constance from a friend. I ended up talking to her and she said all the right things. She was a fair price and more than willing to support my case. No matter how frustrating or difficult the case was, she stayed motivated and persistent. Against all odds, we achieved more than the other attorney's said I would. I ended up getting way more visitation and placed the step father on a firm leash. The unfortunate side is, no legal charges were persuade. That was not her fault by any means. The civil court system failed my son. In a legal case, the step father would have been held accountable for his actions. I work in law enforcement and I spoke directly to my administration and the prosecuting attorneys in my county. I showed them my evidence. Without a doubt, the step father would have been arrested if these actions were taken place in my county and the case was being handled in criminal court. But my case was handled in civil court in Canyon County. The issue was, Canyon County Child Protective Services failed to conduct their investigations even though they were court ordered by a judge to do so. They ignored me, my attorney, my rivals attorney, and the judge on our case no matter how many times any of us tried contacting them. I am still mind boggled how that even happened. Kootenai County Child Protective Services did an outstanding job when they had the case during the beginning before the change of venue. They spoke out about possible concerns but could not finish the investigation due to geological location since the abuse was happening in Canyon County. Shoshone County could not proceed the case due to me working for that county. Even though the system failed, Constance did not. I will never forget how much she has done to help me protect my son. Thank you tremendously. read more
