The Connecticut Convention Center showcases shows, conventions, and business meetings. It overlooks the Connecticut River, and the Center is in the heart of downtown Hartford's Front Street District My daughter and I came here because we won tickets from Yelp to see the Immersive Van Gogh of Hartford. The experience was great as you walked through; there were projections that animated Vincent van Gogh's oeuvre, and beautiful moving images that truly illuminated the genius's mind. Visitors were also able to view Van Gogh's sunny landscapes and night scenes, as well as his portraits and still-life paintings. Clean beautiful space. There were a few couples dressed to the nines doing an impromptu photo shoot on the stairs. I used a couple bathrooms all of which were spotless, including the mirrors. I've been here a few times for conventions, exhibits and dining and parking is ample, even if the garage is full there's plenty of parking around the surrounding blocks. read more

We came for the Glow Hartford light display and what an experience. Make sure to get the Glow passport upon entry (treat for stamping all locations at end). We walked through 6 different locations; China, France, Netherlands, India, Mexico and the United Kingdom and experienced beautiful lighted displays. A selfie area with lighted hanging portraits, many photo opportunities and walk through lighted Icicles (safe of course). There is also a free train ride to enjoy that goes around more lights! Snack areas, a few bars, live music and karaoke. Face painting for the kids, a few local vendors. read more

Attended the Vincent Van Gogh and Monet Exhibit with the Yelp Elite group and it was beautiful and very moving. I heard from others that have attended others that it was cut down in size from 3 years ago but it was still nice. I never got a chance to see this exhibit before so it was great. At the end of the exhibit in the big room that we were watching from beginning to end of each painters life was fascinating. There was a gift shop that you had to pass through if you wanted something to get. read more

Learning about there history and how there art became iconic, there were some facts about him that I did not know. That truly gave me a different perspective to look at his art in a different way and appreciate it more. We are so lucky that were able to witness Gogh's masterpiece. Again, this was all taken on my birthday and my friend was so kind to get a ticket for me. Had so much fun! I'm really happy that this event returned to Connecticut. Even if whatever huge show you attend fills up the conventions space, you will still have no trouble finding a restroom beneath the large icons in each corner. You can take the escalators or elevators up to the exhibit hall or stick with the healthier stairs route. Hand sanitizers are placed throughout the entry and halls. There is even a refreshment stands at the back of the hall includes basic beers and hard seltzer. Suddenly buying a new RV is easier! The parking garage is huge. Our diesel truck had no trouble with the clearance, but there is an outdoor lot for extra oversized vehicles. Best of all, aside from walkable hotel proximity, Bears BBQ and other tasty spots are just across the street, and the around the corner river walk can help you unload all that exhibit hall stimulation. read more

We went to the Home Show today and two things really ticked me off. First off, there was a "pre-pay your parking" policy in effect. Pay $9 before you even enter the garage. I guess it doesn't matter if you stay for 6 minutes or 6 hours. In our case, the Home Show was so disappointing we were done with it in 45 minutes, so that $9 sure seemed like a rip-off. The second sore point was their mask "policy". There are signs everywhere https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=oby6HdtHBcvry2ijAbQvfw&userid=cVrM2BvOvPV0Vi_rC8kepQ saying that "per city ordinance, face masks are required at all times". So we wore our masks as directed, but i was really pissed off to see that 75% of every person I saw (including Convention Center employees) downright ignored the very signs that were posted everywhere. Same with the vendors and customers. What's the use of a sign that leaves zero room for misinterpretation if the Convention Center doesn't even enforce their own policy? Why post that sign in the first place? There was also a gaming show at the convention center at the same time, and that brought in a lot of unvaccinated kids. So all in all, we didn't have a very good time at the Convention Center today. read more

I've gone to a couple of events at this convention center recently and I think it's a great space. Parking is affordable right on site in the garage, compared to larger more expensive cities. Signage could definitely be better, as we got a little confused the last time we parked/were trying to enter the event. I attended a conference at the Connecticut Convention center for work. The space is massive and very accommodating to a large group while still being a great spot for group discussion. The food was very good and the staff were all very nice. Plus the coffee was decent, which is a winning quality of any conference center. read more

Gorgeous space, it caters to many kinds of events. Over the years I've been coming to the convention center for expos, demos, annual meetings, kids circus ...there is plenty of parking although it gets kinda tricky to walk from the parking lot to the indoors. The space is very clean and well maintained. If your a coffee addict no worries there is a Starbucks in the Marriott hotel attached to the center. read more

We had a great time at the Jurassic Quest event today. If you love dinosaurs you have to go! The dinosaurs are so lifelike - from baby dinosaurs to huge "life size" (like 10' - 15' tall!) The sounds and movements bring them to life! About 8 or 10 bounce houses, mini hero's for kids to drive, digging for fossils, face painting, make your own fossil cups, craft table, plenty of places for photo ops. Once you go in you can leave and return the same day with your hand stamp with just one admission. We did the VIP tickets for the kids and got our money's worth! read more

The area reserved for my conference met our needs perfectly. We were on one floor with clean and efficient meeting spaces. Meals were great and the wait staff was friendly and efficient. There was also a regular shuttle called "Dash" that carried some conferees to the second hotel and to restaurants around the city. That service follows a regular route. Otherwise, Uber is available as well as city buses. One side of our meeting space faced the river and the view was spectacular. Within just one block is a great smokehouse restaurant and a small movie theater. I didn't experience it but there's also a neighboring science center/museum that was used for one vendor's party. read more

I've been coming to this convention center for a minimum of 3 events a year. This building is beautiful, excellent location off the highway, connected to the Marriott with safe parking. I've been here for Auto Shows, CARA events, Connecticut Children's Hospital Fundraisers, Auctions, Benefits. The best homeshow I've ever been to where you can discover your local small to large businesses and services. This venue is truly great for functions big or small. Well kept secure and clean with many excellent restaurant choices just across the street. read more

This was our first time coming here and We visited here part of a large regional volleyball tournament. Venue was well laid out, bathrooms were very clean and had folks continuously cleaning around everyone after each game. The venue held 27 courts and it didn't feel squished together. There was plenty of places to sit and watch. Starbucks was on premises. Only negative points is the parking lot attendants, it felt like the floors that were full should of been communicated via bulletin board, placards or staff. read more

Solid venue space, the floor is huge and great for all sorts of different activities. We came for the North American Handmade Bicycle Show (NAHBS) and the convention center was perfect. The vendors were set up in the middle and on the outside there were photo shoot areas, an award podium, satellite bars, coffee trucks, bathrooms, and a food court. Plenty of bathrooms for everybody and the staff did a great job keeping them clean. The signage is pretty good for figuring out where to go from the parking garage but I think it could be a little better (maybe stand up signs out during events?). The bikes, obviously, stole the show but the venue helped them shine. read more

Had a chance to visit the Connecticut Convention center for an event called Jurassic Quest. The building has it's own dedicated parking lot for the Center so you dont have to struggle to find parking. Prices for parking are reasonable for Hartford parking. The center had an updated look and interior design. The signs for the event for clear and concise. There was no confusion on where we had to go to get our tickets. The staff was friendly and helpful. Once we got into the main hall, the space was wide open. Plenty of space with the dinosaur displays to walk around without having to squeeze through. There is a bathroom when you first walk in and near the back of the hall. The bathrooms were kept clean and maintained well throughout the event. They have food at the event at the dining areas. Prices were decent and there were good choices for the food. We decided to leave and get Subway at the back of the Science Center since the event allowed us to reenter. There is a stairway that connects the Convention Center to the Connecticut Science Center for kids. There is a beautiful scenic view spot between the two buildings. All in all the event itself was AWESOME. Well situated and organized. The dinosaur activities were highly interactive and fun for all ages. I myself loved reading about all the dinosaur facts at each display. I also enjoyed meeting the baby dinosaurs with my daughter. Very surreal experience for animatronic dinosaurs. My daughter was so amazed. Will definetly come here again to see another event that they have. read more

This is a gorgeous, well-appointed facility with great catering. I have enjoyed two events here. The venue is spacious, but doesn't seem cavernous. Instead it lends to a reasonable amount of informal meeting space for networking during breaks. The furniture is comfortable and well-suited to the space and events. The bathrooms are kept clean and offer good privacy. They also have a nice space for a break away from the action, if needed. I do wish there was some outdoor seating to get out and enjoy the weather during a long day. The food and service is excellent. I have enjoyed fresh fruit and pastries for breakfast, delicious cookies and brownies on break, delicious coffee throughout. Both the hot lunch and cold sandwich service was great. All of the food is fresh, beautifully served, and well thought out. The bread with the sandwich service is good, as well as the cold prepared salads. Their clam chowder is excellent. read more

Each year I bring a group of high school students to a college admissions fair and the CT Convention Center doesn't disappoint. The lobby, exhibit areas, walk ways and parking areas are all well lit and clean. Ample seating and electrical outlets for charging as well. Overall great location to 84/91 commuting. read more

While the golf show I saw here this weekend was an utter waste of money and time, this wonderfully modern facility deserves no blame for it. With reportedly 140,000 feet of show space in various areas, it can host a wide range of regional events. -1 star for the parking fees. $3 for the first hour, $2 every hour after, $19 maximum. I'm sorry, but this is Downtown Hartford, not Rockefeller center. Next time I'll definitely be looking for street parking and walking a few blocks to save some dough. I guess all that parking money is going to pay for the building, because it is really nice. Escalators everywhere, sprawling floor space, clean bathrooms, a snack bar, and so on. A worthy addition to Downtown Hartford's commercial interest. read more

Everything in my original review still applies but one additional detail worth mentioning (fresh in my mind since I attended a conference here today) is that the food is actually really, really good. From full breakfasts to luncheons to breaks between workshops and cocktail hours, I'm always pretty impressed by the quality of the meals here, especially given the sheer volume the chefs churn out. My dear friend (the lovely Rachael F) and I were ogling over the desserts between sessions today and I had a really unexpectedly killer marscapone & strawberry pastry. Total bonus! An amazing Convention Center and an awesome auto show event this year! This was my first time coming to the Connecticut Convention Center and the first time at the Connecticut auto show. Very impressed with everything from the property itself to the showroom floor. We are on the look to find a new car and this place was a good place to start: Pros: 1. Parking was hell a lot better than the New York auto show at the Javits center, and you need to pay an event rate price of 65.00 in NYC, but here in Connecticut auto show it's only $7 for 3-4 hours. The built in parking garage is big, but the only problem is the people backing out of spaces in blind spots that you can't see but you just got to be careful and drive safely and slowly in this garage. 2. The convention center property is absolutely hands down the best and cleanest convention center I have ever been to. Lots of comfortable seating with power outlets and USB ports which are very handy, and a Starbucks. There is also a Marriott Hotel connected to the convention-center which is awesome and very convenient but unfortunately since the car show and a beauty pageant was happening the same weekend in the convention center so the hotel was booked, and was looking forward to staying in Hartford for the weekend but that's to be expected when there are events like these. Still was a nice day trip though. 3. The car show event was amazing! A little bit smaller than the Javits center auto show but still very nice cars and trucks on display. The very good thing about this auto show compared to the Javits center auto show is that you can look around and inside cars and trucks without being pressured by sales tactics and it's very nice to check out each vehicle that suits our needs. We really love the 2018 Ford Explorer and the 2018 Nissan Rouge and we compared each vehicle to our likings. Of course if you have any questions about a vehicle I'm sure they would help but they don't pressure you into buying a vehicle so you can take all day and not worrying about a thing. They do give away little keychains, Toyota and Ford bags, and booklets for vehicle research at this car show. 4. The cafe/food court was pretty good and not as expensive as the Javits center where a slice of pizza is freaking $9. Here it's only $3.50 so not too bad and is good. Cons: 1 The one thing that annoyed us and yes I know this is a kids event too, but there were many kids roaming around, touching buttons, and being rowdy while we were looking at different vehicles. The parents don't even know how to control their bratty kids. Other than that an awesome event with lots of cars and helped us to make a decision in a car purchase! Will definitely go next year for the 2018 auto show! read more

One of the better convention centers where I have performed at. Really large exhibit halls. I heard someone joke it was like "The Home Depot" of Convention Centers. Industrial looking but still clean and modern, palace-like in grandiosity though minimalist interior design. Simple, lots of natural light. Perfectly located in downtown where the 91 and the 84 freeways meet. Parking is $10-$12 for the day or you can pay hourly in the nearby lots ($3 for first hour and $2 per hour thereafter) there is also "Pay by Space parking for 2hrs starting at 9am. Near museums and the science center as well as restaurants and shops. Connected to the Marriott Hotel. read more

I've yet to have a bad experience at the Convention Center. I usually park across the street in the Travelers garage since I get free parking as an employee, and it can be a little scary crossing the street there. Otherwise, I find that it's always clean and the staff are friendly. My last visit was for Savor in April 2016 and the phone system was broken, so when I called to find out if there was a coat check, I had to actually call security and ask them to transfer me, as all other phone options resulted in a "That extension can't be found" message. Anyway. The bathrooms here are gloriously gigantic, with a little sitting room if you're waiting for your friend and holding her stuff. All in all, a well-kept place, very accessible and easy to get out when it's over! read more

My company recently held our annual holiday party at the convention center and I was blown away as to how nice it was. Outside the main room is where they had the cocktail house. It was set up very nicely, with tons of delicious foods. They also had these mini-bars set up that had a full bar inside of them, with 1 bartender for each (I believe there was 4 of them). Once the part moved inside the bartender hopped off and with what seemed like no effort at all, pushed them right inside the ballroom and continued to serve alcohol, which I thought was very cool. It was also pretty easy to get into and parking was convent, attached right next to the Marriott. read more

I have been to the the CT Convention Center a number of times over the years. Trade shows, conventions, business meetings or food/product exhibits-- it's an ideal location for most events. Overlooking the CT river, it's conveniently situated downtown across from Hartford's Front Street District - a rapidly expanding hub of activity teeming with things to do and food to eat. With the attached garage as well as other parking facilities in the surrounding area, there's no shortage of parking. Free WiFi is also available, but coverage can be spotty. The venue itself is often well-kept and the bathrooms are just as clean. read more
