I call the main Piedmont billing, wait 25 mnutes on hold and they dont know anything about them. I have a medical spending reimbursement account and I have to present a receipt that matches the bill to get paid, and without that I dont get paid. Seems like about 1/2 the bills out there are like this now and its so annoying that this keep happening. The main Piedmont health only bills for the hospital complex is what they tell me so this must be from elsewhere and its out of control. I guess I will have to dispute each one with the bank and see if that helps them wake up. Be forwarned! They have show inserts laying all over the place and everyone is told to take one. They add $50 to your bill for the inserts. Many may not know unless you ask! Is it better than inserts you can get online for 1/3 that??? I have no way to know but my guess is no. I refued this scam and the $50 was put on my account ANYWAY. I had to fight to get it off. Then the total didnt match the bill do my insurance balked! The only way to come out unscathed is to AVOID this place.

As soon as I walked in the lobby I knew I was double triple booked like they do at the beauty salons. the whole lobby was packed with customers. First off my appointment was at 10:30 I didn't get seen until a little after 11:00, I had to check back in to have someone do my labs which took another 30 min wait. Then I had to check in online for my meds and wait for that to filled inhouse which was another 30 min. This process seems inefficient to me. I left around 1:25 p.m. Now here is where things get weird. I have never in my adult life had a physical or doctors appt w/o basic questions being asked like family medical history, vitamins/supplements that are taken, mental health , drugs& alcohol. I told doctor and kiosk I had been hospitalized recently and that wasn't even brought up. I brought my medicine in and wasn't asked how long I was dealing with condition or taking meds. Another weird thing about my appt is my physical didn't include the basics. Stick out your tongue say AHHH, look in my eyes & ears, check my reflexes, tap on my stomach to make sure my liver is ok, EKG, check my breast, oxygen levels, heck my temperature wasn't even checked. The only thing checked was my blood pressure, pap smear (nobody asked my last cycle or even if i was on my cycle) , and labs. During the physical I told Dr. Pinera that I didn't think my meds were working for my BP. I think I'm becoming insulin resistant from my medicine. He became very offended. Wanting to know who told me that, where did I read that at. I felt insulted and unheard as if at my 47 years of being on this earth I can't tell something is wrong with my body. I showed him my BP that I have been tracking, and he told me the meds are working, he clearly didn't read what I showed him because my BP has not been right with or without me taking meds. Dr. Pinera asked if I had sleep apnea which I do and said this could be reason for the way I've been feeling. He told me has prescribed this BP medicine to so many people and it works. I informed him several times we won't know until the labs come back. At one point i started crying I was so flustered and was trying my best not to let my tongue unleash something serious and offensive. I was told I would get a new bp monitor, mine is shot out. I didn't see any email or anything on Kaiser website showing that, only thing I saw was an email invitation to download an app for bp monitoring. At the end he told me he was going on vacation for 2weeks and to make an appointment in 3 months. I wont be back. Dr. Pinera seems nice but I don't think he listens really. After insisting, she got an appointment for January and the gastroenterologist saw her, once there she told him about her gastritis, reflux and pain. the doctor did not act accordingly with the symptoms described, he chose to order her to have an electrocardiogram, a reason we do not understand, when the logical thing was to place an order for an endoscopy, then she had to call to make her electrocardiogram appointment, which they gave her after a few days, logically the electrocardiogram came out fine, then I tried to call again for a new appointment with the gastro, which was never available, where two more months passed until April and after our complaints even in the emergency room, we managed to get her seen, in April 2024! The result was terrible, she could not eat anymore, she had esophageal cancer! and no results for surgery because it had moved to a line in the abdomen! From then on, the attention to her problem did not improve, since Kaizer does not have the capacity to respond to these situations, so the outcome after a poorly conducted treatment without adequate follow-up, ended with the death of my wife. It is important that people look at other insurance policies that do not tie them to a single entity as the Kaizer Permanent organization has, their life there can end very badly! Everyone I have dealt with in my 14 years of being a Kaiser Permanente member are kind and caring people. But the system conspires against getting timely medical care on so many levels, that it is disappointing. Kaiser's business model seems to be one of providing all of their services in house. Of course when you add a new service, then the demand will exceed the supply of services. Yet Kaiser has no Plan B as I call it, and alternative for seeking services when the services you need can't be provided timely. Kaiser has a very robust customer complaint system, when what they really need is a more robust customer care system.

I am writing to explain my personal experience with Dr. Rikhter and this clinic. I have been a…read morepatient if his for close to twenty years and consider him to be one if the finest personal physicians I have ever had. He consistently shows obvious concern for me as an individual, takes the time to be sure I understand each aspect of diagnosis and treatment, always explains choices clearly, asks lots of questions and LISTENS to the answers, and never shows irritation at being questioned or challenged in the event that I might have another idea about my own treatment. Specifically, some years back I was tested with very high cholesterol levels (which remain high today). He prescribed Lipitor after explaining possible adverse effects. After two weeks of using it I threw it away as it was making me feel tired, sore and old. A friend who had gone into the hospital for a heart attack mentioned an arterial/heart scan that his doctors had suggested should be given to all suspect patients (including those with high cholesterol). When I queried Dr. Rikhter about this, rather than resisting, he corroborated that this would be worth investigating. Long story short, the test corroborated that while cholesterol levels in my blood are high I have virtually zero blockage. He went on to suggest a further "stress" test, just to be sure, and after clearing that he suggested that he could see no compelling reason for me to go on statins (Lipitor or otherwise), even though stAtistics suggest otherwise. I have his blessing to continue without medication, just repeating the routine tests every five years. I could cite any number of other specific experiences with his professional staff, nurses, et al, and not a single negative experience on almost twenty years. I will agree that the front office has at times seemed aggressive with regard to billing, and not always as organized as I wish it were. On the other hand I have always been informed of lab results and had follow up calls, mostly by my doctor in person, on an extremely timely basis. Again, the information has been clear, patiently delivered, and I am always given the chance to ask questions or state any concerns. Once I praised Dr. Rikhter to one of his PA's who was leaving his practice. Her parting words were that even though she had once worked for Johns Hopkins in Baltimore (one of the nations most widely recognized teaching hospitals) she felt so strongly about Dr. Rikhter that she would be flying back from New Hampshire (or Vermont) every year to see him for her annual physical. I corroborate this kind of enthusiasm.
