The church is small enough so a person feels like they are part of a extended and loving family and everyone is so supportive of each other. We have…read morenow tried 4 different churches and my husband and I agree that Aptos Christian is clearly a church we will attend again. Upon arriving, we were greeted by several people and introduced to several more. When the service began, we felt the music was worshipful and enthusiastic. The sermon included relevant key verses as well as multi-media aspects. The service was a good length and finished with a cheerful send-off. While moving toward the door we were, again, greeted by many of the members. The pastor even invited us to chat, have coffee or lunch (in the coming week) if we had any questions about the church. We will, DEFINITELY, return to Aptos Christian.

I stopped going to Church in the year 2000 when a Presbyterian church told me and my former spouse…read morewe were welcome to come, but to leave our children at home (they were 2 and 6 with developmental disabilities). I stayed home and watched the children so my then wife could attend. My last real attendance was at a Congregational church in Southern California, where at age 35 I was asked to be on the board of elders. I attended from 1980-1990, I tried a couple of others but the same lack of welcoming for disabled children. I have been watching the services at Peace UCC online and am impressed with the mission, music, sense of true Christianity, acceptance of diversity, and humor. I am very nervous about walking into a church again after all of these years, but hope I can get up the nerve to walk in alone. I always get overwhelmed at the initial barrage of introductions and my terrible ability to recall names, finding is very embarrassing. I moved to Aptos in 2005 and have thought about attending again ever since. My older son passed away in 2014 and my younger son (23) lives out of the home.

I'm a parishioner at Calvary Episcopal Church in Santa Cruz. In answer to Tyra W.'s question,…read moreCalvary's parking lot is on private property...it's not state-funded. Anyone who is attending a service at the church is welcome to park there, but the lot is not open to the general public (for example, people unaffiliated with the parish who want to park to attend the farmers market or to shop downtown). This is indicated on signs at the entrance to the parking lot. If you were there for a service though, there shouldn't have been a problem. If you feel you have been wronged in this regard, it would be a good idea to call or write to the church office and tell them what happened. By the way, if you want to come for a Sunday service and can't find parking in the Calvary lot, please note that parking in the city lot adjacent to the church is free on Sundays.

For decades, I have longed to become Catholic. I was born in Spain, with five nuns present at my…read morebirth, so the Catholic faith has always felt woven into my story. Yet because of social and cultural barriers, I often kept that longing private. I explored other religions, visited different Catholic churches, and tried to find my way. I even sent one of my children to Catholic school while another attended a different school. My journey to Our Lady Help of Christians has been deeply personal. I have experienced things I can only describe as profound and providential--experiences I will keep private, but which helped me understand that my connection to this parish was meaningful. Today, I feel called to support this church, the Watsonville community, God, Jesus Christ, and the children and families of the parish. I cannot fully explain the depth of my devotion to this church or what it means to me in my lifelong journey toward the Lord. Our Lady Help of Christians is more than a building to me. It represents faith, service, hope, and a place where I can continue growing closer to God and the Catholic community. I am grateful to be part of its journey and committed to helping this parish flourish.

As a secular, I would definitely check it out if you're in town or are looking for an open forum for talk and belief. (Also they have an amazing lunch after each service.
