And the husband worked at the same company I did! I kind of drifted in and out of Tifereth Israel. The good folks at this Congregation were nice enough, but most of the non-davening time seemed to be taken up with the latest financial crisis. And after being the Treasurer one time for a Berkeley Conservative Shul, I now have a good idea what that was all about. The Rabbi at that time also tried to set me up with a volunteer activity in Center City. However, I demurred when I was told by them that my first job was to tell a bunch of teen age kids that the previously free registration for some activity was now going to cost them money. And my predecessor had just abruptly quit. I may be Jewish, but I wasn't about to walk into that lion's den.
