AARP offers a Smart Drivers Course and I qualified - and I didn't even have to fudge the numbers on my date of birth - of 21 attendees, I was the youngest - they were born either Depression era or Guilded Age. For them, it was a social event - for me, it was the first day of class - collared shirt - attentively positioned in the first row. I sat in my chair tensely like an embalmed bon vivant while the elder blighters got cheeky in the rear. The class focused on change, change in seniors body's, the vehicles, the roads, reaction times -- videos, handouts kept all of us involved. I came out of the class of a renewed understand of the rules of the roads, safe driving methods and to watch out for the same people I was sitting in class with. At break time - for a whopping $3.00, a beautiful hot (extra soft) lunch was served which was perfectly timed as my stomach was growling like a flat head FORD that was about to spin it's main bearing. Green beans that were a tad waterlogged, extra soft mashed potatoes and a steamed orange chicken that broke apart if you cast it a mean look - but for $3.00 with coffee and tea - you'll hear no complaints from me.

This shul, being conservative in the PAST, in a clueless foolishly welcomed several reform rabbis. Nonetheless, it is Thriving these days! The warm crew welcomes people of all levels of observance. The philosophy is that of Chabbad: Every fellow Yid is family, and anyone standing at the doors if a desired guest! This shul has been running many activities lately including, Challah Party for women, paintnight for couples and singles, purim party, Chanukah party and many more. Moreover, this synagogue holds Sunday morning classes for kids in Torah, Hebrew, and Jewish Phylosophy along with a Choir prep. I highly recommend this warm place if you live in Middle Village! Who am I, for you to believe me? See it for yourself!

This review is for the pool only -…read more I signed up for swimming lessons and arrived, swimcap in hand, only to be horrified by the conditions around the pool. * Unorganized - I arrived and had no idea where to go. There were only 2 custodians working there and neither were able to provide assistance. * Overpopulated - The crowd was similar to a very large elementary school's lunch cafeteria. Think at least 100 children, screaming. * Dirty - The locker rooms were old, stained, and rusty. Some lockers were rusted shut. Floors murky, often with clumps of hair. I don't think they are cleaned regularly. * WTF - Locker rooms were "gendered" but the women's locker room had a large gap, giving us a lovely view of adjacent men's urinals. There was no private changing area. Several boys (like 8-9 yrs old) were in women's locker room, one of whom kept staring at me while I undressed. No No and No.

The temple should be open to the community to ALL jews. I was ready to pay any fee or donation associated with this event but instead was met with such hostility. There are plenty of other temples around the area that DO NOT require membership and where staff are friendlier and more welcoming to host such an important jewish event. Will stop going there immediately and will spread the word to all my fellow jews. Not nice!
