The people working were really sweet and patient with my bad German. I ordered at the counter, but once I told them I was dining in, they asked me to take a seat and they came to my table to ask if I wanted a drink and to bring my food once the quiche had been heated, and came back to take payment once I was finished - very attentive service! I ordered a Gemüse Quiche (veggie quiche with carrots and broccoli) and a slice of Fehmarnsche Schichtentorte (marzipan raspberry layer cake). The quiche was stuffed with carrots, which I liked, and the egg base was mild and creamy. The airiness of the cake and whipped frosting was nice with the rich marzipan. Sometimes vanilla cakes are too plain for me but the marzipan coating added a complexity that made this one very enjoyable for me. It wasn't overly sweet either so it didn't leave a sugary aftertaste. I had a few bites of some other cakes too and they were all of the same high quality, so I'd definitely recommend them for a special treat.

Its not on the beaten path, and upon entrance feels like a throwback to the mid fifties, early sixties. Hands down they have the best butter bretzels in town. The butter is injected into the round, and the bite you take therefore has that satisfying cream center kinduva feel usually reserved for Berliner or other doughnut like items.
