Ms. Maureen was my son's teacher when he was in the three year old class. She made the class fun and rewarding. It made me wish that we had sent our daughter ( his older sister) there for the three year old program instead of just the four year old program. Our children both had Ms. Julie for the four-year old class and they LOVED her. She had a way of tapping into their artistic side and letting them explore their imaginations through play and art. They also had a religious education and a physical fitness program that was included with tuition. Both of my children are now in elementary school and are exceeding our expectations with their academic abilities. I have to credit Stepping Stones for laying the foundation for their success. It is what Kindergarten used to be. Getting children ready for school while teaching them how to get along.

If the warm, welcoming community is the heart of St. James the Greater Catholic Church, then Father Jerome Chavarria, the parish priest, is its soul. Father Jerome offers sermons that are understandable and relatable. He truly believes in the saving power of faith...not just in the eternal way, but in a palpable, practical way. He emanates peace and love. Confession with Father Jerome is a time of recommitment and gentle accountability. He is a great shepherd of his flock. Father Charlie Donovan, the parochial vicar, is the brain of St. James the Greater Catholic Church. His intellectual prowess is best shown by his thought-provoking, humorous sermons. Father Charlie is a "four Pope priest" with hundreds of amazing stories to tell, but he is an even better listener. St. James has Sunday Mass at 8:00 am, 10:00 am (Children's mass), 11:30 am, 1:30 pm (Spanish) and 5:00 pm (Teen Mass). I am not anti-social, I have been Roman Catholic for my entire life. It is one Church throughout the entire world, this is just another location that we celebrate the mass in. I will introduce myself when I want to meet new people and get involved. I don't want to be recruited. I am a lifer. There are no fees to join this church, some Catholic churches have a welcome packet and dinner they charge you for. That concept was new to me but it happened in Virginia. The homilies aren't all downloaded off the internet, that is a big plus for me. Not that we don't have good homilies on the internet, but sometimes you hear the same one twice and if you have a good enough memory where you remember hearing nearly the exact homily four years ago. I have that kind of memory.
