Solid 3-star experience at the Avenue Hotel last week…read more Pros: -Friendly front-desk staff -Nice, cozy lobby with fireplace, lots of comfortable seating, board games and books -Wine hour (cost included) daily from 5-6 -Free, decent-tasting coffee provided at front desk every morning -Nice back patio with outdoor couches, blankets, heaters -Bicycle rentals available at the hotel (cost 150DKK per day). We loved biking around the city! Cost was slightly more than other places we researched but very easy for pickup and drop off! Cons -Toilet was not properly cleaned for the duration of our stay (looked mildewy underneath the rim of the seat). Disappointing. -Weird system re. room keys - guests are asked to leave their key with the front desk when leaving the building, however not asked for ID when coming back to pick it up. We only stayed for 3 days so I'd be very surprised if the staff (which rotated) remembered which room we were staying in. I don't mind dropping off the key but wish the system for picking them up was more secure - I got the feeling it would be easy for someone to walk in off the street, say a random room number, and get access to the room. Other -There's a breakfast offered in the restaurant downstairs but the cost is NOT included in the stay. We ate elsewhere which we thought was better value. -Rooms are very basic - slightly older furnishings, no fridge, coffeemaker etc (common in Europe). Our room did have a small safe for passport/valuables. -The main elevator is older and very small (max 3 people). We didn't use it, just took the stairs to the second floor, but something to be aware if you are looking for an accessible hotel. -Location on Aboulevard is decent. It's a loud/busy street but lots of hidden gems in terms of bars and restaurants within a 15 minute walking radius. Short walk (10 minutes) to Forum metro stop.

Andrew mentions "an amazing gym" but the gym (at least when we were there) is NOT part of the hotel (it's attached to the hotel) and guests do not automatically have access to it. I don't know if this is a change between when he was there in 2024 and when we were there in September of this year. Like many of these fancy hotels, the lobby is very pretty. However, it's a weird hotel. They don't have a main desk. Instead, they "encourage" people to do self-check in, even to extent that they make their own room keys! They have a bunch of kiosks to do this. As an alternative, they have a people with tablets that can check you in (which we did). However, it's the room that really bothered me. Let's start with something important to all guests: toilet paper. Well, not the toilet paper itself, but the lack of even ONE backup roll. This is not something you want to discover. When I called down to the desk (or operator), I was told that I needed to pick it up myself. There were no tissues. There wasn't any folder or information about the hotel. Instead you can scan a QR code, but that only takes you to their very unhelpful website (which stated that their restaurant, Blue Elephant, was closed -- it was open!) There was no clock, no space for clothes. Our view was the top of the attached casino -- ugly as sin. In short, the room was pretty bad.

The not so good - Housekeeping was very hit and miss. On my last day housekeeping came at 6:00pm. Service just downright sucked. Took over 1 hr for an app, 90 mins to get a main. And it was barely edible. Really frustrating after a long day of travel - Never asked if I wanted to authorize my card at check in which I am very used to. So when I tried to charge a drink to room I then had to go to reception (spent 10 mins in line) to ask to authorize my card so I could do room charges - Elevators cannot cope when there is a conference going on in the hotel. Be prepared to ride up to get down. - Overall customer service. Calling down to reception/guest services was pointless. Never answered. Other - The staff when you did interact seemed overwhelmed and under trained.

I wouldn't if I were you…read more I attempted to book a room in July 2026, but because it was a Copenhagen charge on my card, and I live in the U.S., I received a fraud alert from my card. This is normal. However, since I was trying to book a room to last over a week in August, I did not want to have a double charge so I called my credit card and I told them it was an attempted charge but not to put the charge through . They did not. I have no record of paying anything to any booking site or to Scandi to secure any reservation. However, when I arrived in Copenhagen on 8/21 and checked into the other hotel "the Square" across the square that I booked on another card after I had cancelled the reservation attempt on the previous card, Scandi improperly charged my card $304 without warning. I walked over to their hotel that day and had two fairly rude and dismissive conversations with front desk clerks wherein they basically told me that their records indicated that I made a reservation and that I did not appear so they charged me $304 for a day stay. They claimed they had no control and it was Expedia. Here's the fraud: I never used expedia to attempt to make the booking and have no written evidence whatsoever a booking was made. None was. This is fraud. There is no record of my having paid any third party booking site or Scandia for any reservation. And ask yourself: why would I maid two reservations elsewhere if I had a reservation. at Scandi? There is no record of any third-party or Scandia telling me via email or in any form of writing that there was a reservation. There was none. There were no emails telling me about my impending stay because there was no stay scheduled. Scandi had the audacity to only agree to refund my credit card, when working with my credit card company to resolve this amicably, the princely sum of $2.98. Unfortunately, I'm the wrong person you try to pull this nonsense on. I will pursue this until I reach financial satisfaction - which I will. I will not be cheated. I will also be contacting the two principle government offices with the Danish authorities about this. I add this: in response to my credit cards' inquiries, Scandi produced no documentation or any proof of a made reservation, no proof a confirmation to me the reservation was made, no reminders in advance of any impending reservation or any proof of the holding of any such reservation. It simply kept the money and now has disrespectfully and fraudulently refunded me $2.98 back.

Beautiful large, well lit lobby area where they serve an amazing brunch in the morning. I would recommend staying here for the brunch alone. Rooms were really nice, bed comfy. Hotel is in a prime location, you can walk to everything. I spent over a month in Europe in various locations, stayed in various hotels, this place was awesome! And finally, on my way out - (this was almost 2-years ago so apologize for late review). But when I was checking out Copenhagen was supporting the Tour de France, and a major part of the city was closed to road traffic. I had to get the the ferry terminal (to take the ferry to Oslo - which I highly recommend) And the concierge personally helped me with my bags, and walked me to the subway station and made sure I got on the correct train. When I asked the front desk, they were quick to apologize and offered breakfast which was nice. Apparently, the construction was not suppose to begin until 8AM, but it started at 7AM (at least above my room). At least I had to get up around that time, but the noise was shrill and unpleasant. Also, my room was exceedingly warm even with A/C running all night. I'd try the Skt. Petri again, but check to the status of the construction project. 3 stars during my visit, would expect it to be higher next time.

It takes a 20-minute metro ride from this hotel to Stroget or Christianhavn. However, it is only 10 minutes taxi ride from the airport and one metro stop away from the Bella Center. You get a huge array of foods. cereals, so many breads, delicious coffee from machines, fresh juices, yogurts and fruits, meats and cheeses, and yes, good old American eggs and bacon/sausages. Great opportunity to fill up for the day! The location is wonderful. Very close to central station/metro. The only downside is that it's across from and (on the opposite side) above a strip club, so there will be times later at night where music might suddenly be blaring. There was also one night where I heard significant yelling from the hallway. Not sure what was going on, if it was a cop, or just a belligerent jerk. TL;DR, it's an improvement from a hostel, but not necessarily for older or quiet couples. Might be luck of the draw. It's walking distance to literally all the museums, cathedrals, stores, cafes, bookstores and it's surrounded by restaurants. Not to mentioned tons of street vendors are all over in the street. And most importantly the central train station is like 3 minutes walking distance from the hotel. Stay away from the cabs...too expensive. The rooms are very tiny, but very clean and smells so good. The bed was very comfortable and my favorite has to be the shower. The shower head was luxurious. They had a nice lounge downstairs that you can grab a drink from the bar, which was behind the reception desk. The staff was very helpful with giving recommendations on where to eat, how to navigate the city of Copenhagen and help with any other questions you may have. I had a pleasant stay here!
