The bed had European duvets but it all felt dirty, I even spotted stains. The bathroom was a small space pod. The garbage can was annoying to use because you had to press to squeeze it open and didn't feel sanitary. Also, our towels had trouble drying even if they were hanging all day. Walls are very thin. Overall, this experience was just ok. Nothing fancy.

And by cosy, I mean I've been in cruise ship cabins that are bigger. No drawers to put stuff away, housekeeping every 5th day unless you request it 24 hours in advance (but we didn't get that request fulfilled either). It was easiest to find the clean towels cart and grab more towels oneself. The staff was friendly and helpful and it was a good deal if you can deal with the lack of space. The building itself was clean and modern. Our room looked out over the front of the building with nice big windows that we were able to open! Everything we needed was within walking distance or by bus. The 5 bus is just around the corner and we used it liberally. Hot shower was most times hot. Bed was comfortable but, geez, I'm American, I wish they had flat sheets! Bathroom is tight for two people with lots of toiletry routines. Room is tight for two people with checked luggage.

This is normal. However, since I was trying to book a room to last over a week in August, I did not want to have a double charge so I called my credit card and I told them it was an attempted charge but not to put the charge through . They did not. I have no record of paying anything to any booking site or to Scandi to secure any reservation. However, when I arrived in Copenhagen on 8/21 and checked into the other hotel "the Square" across the square that I booked on another card after I had cancelled the reservation attempt on the previous card, Scandi improperly charged my card $304 without warning. I walked over to their hotel that day and had two fairly rude and dismissive conversations with front desk clerks wherein they basically told me that their records indicated that I made a reservation and that I did not appear so they charged me $304 for a day stay. They claimed they had no control and it was Expedia. Here's the fraud: I never used expedia to attempt to make the booking and have no written evidence whatsoever a booking was made. None was. This is fraud. There is no record of my having paid any third party booking site or Scandia for any reservation. And ask yourself: why would I maid two reservations elsewhere if I had a reservation. at Scandi? There is no record of any third-party or Scandia telling me via email or in any form of writing that there was a reservation. There was none. There were no emails telling me about my impending stay because there was no stay scheduled. Scandi had the audacity to only agree to refund my credit card, when working with my credit card company to resolve this amicably, the princely sum of $2.98. Unfortunately, I'm the wrong person you try to pull this nonsense on. I will pursue this until I reach financial satisfaction - which I will. I will not be cheated. I will also be contacting the two principle government offices with the Danish authorities about this. I add this: in response to my credit cards' inquiries, Scandi produced no documentation or any proof of a made reservation, no proof a confirmation to me the reservation was made, no reminders in advance of any impending reservation or any proof of the holding of any such reservation. It simply kept the money and now has disrespectfully and fraudulently refunded me $2.98 back.

Beautiful large, well lit lobby area where they serve an amazing brunch in the morning. I would recommend staying here for the brunch alone. Rooms were really nice, bed comfy. Hotel is in a prime location, you can walk to everything. I spent over a month in Europe in various locations, stayed in various hotels, this place was awesome! And finally, on my way out - (this was almost 2-years ago so apologize for late review). But when I was checking out Copenhagen was supporting the Tour de France, and a major part of the city was closed to road traffic. I had to get the the ferry terminal (to take the ferry to Oslo - which I highly recommend) And the concierge personally helped me with my bags, and walked me to the subway station and made sure I got on the correct train. He was absolutely phenomenal (picture included). I loved this place, and would 100% go back and stay here again.

During my recent visit, there was construction happening directly above my second floor room and it started at 7AM. When I asked the front desk, they were quick to apologize and offered breakfast which was nice. Apparently, the construction was not suppose to begin until 8AM, but it started at 7AM (at least above my room). At least I had to get up around that time, but the noise was shrill and unpleasant. Also, my room was exceedingly warm even with A/C running all night. I'd try the Skt. Petri again, but check to the status of the construction project. 3 stars during my visit, would expect it to be higher next time.

Overall, it was a great stay and it offered my two must haves. However, there is definitely room for improvement. Here's a summary: Pros: 1. Conveniently located near Copenhagen Airport: 30 minutes from airport by Metro( yellow line, eight stops), the stop is Kongens Nyrtov. If by Uber, 15 minutes @$30 2. In City Center, thus, you are in walking distance of numerous landmarks: Nyhavn, Radhuspladsen, Tivoli Gardens, to name a few 3. Check in is a breeze, you can do so by QR code or friendly staff 4. Numerous options of dining nearby from takeout to fine dining 5. The neighborhood, Kongens Nyrtov, very safe which is important when you are traveling. The area is bustling all day, there are always people coming and going 6. There are 2 Metro stations, Kongens Nyrtov and Marmorkirken, @7 minute walk from hotel. Both stations, immaculate, busy and elevator access Cons: 1. Room: this is dorm living; small room, small bathroom, no closets, small desk, uncomfortable chairs. However, bed is extremely comfortable and I used the big bed drawer that stored comforter as my clothes "closet". The shower temperature takes a while to get to the right heat 2. No frills: no fridge, no coffee, no toiletries noise level is okay 3. Cleanliness: in certain countries, you need to ensure your room is cleaned due to water conservation, thus here you need to email the days you want room cleaned,otherwise... 4. Value: tough one because location is key but hotel is overpriced. I have stayed in better hotels that charged less than this. My thought process for a short stay: as long as room is clean because I'm only using it to sleep and shower, I'm good. However, when I arrived at 9am, 6 hours before check in, they had rooms available but I paid a little more for an "upgrade" and to check in early. 5. Miscellaneous: services are limited such as if you need to convert money they do not offer it. Would I stay again..if this was the only hotel available then yes. And a shout out to my yelpie Bridget W. and my trippy Mette for both cluing me onto this veritable hostel paradise! THE SETUP So what happened is on my flight out of Stockholm, Sweden, I ended up with a one (1) day layover in Copenhagen before going on to San Francisco. Now, this was PLANNED - I knew I had the layover: it was either this or pay $400 more for the next least expensive round trip between San Francisco and Stockholm (and back). As it turned out, I was already spending 10 days in the Baltic States with friends, hitting Sweden, Estonia, Russia and Finland. Unfortunately, there was no time in that itinerary to hit Denmark (nor Norway, for that matter, though technically, although also part of "Scandinavia", Norway is not a Baltic state). So an extra stop on the return leg in Copenhagen for a full day presented itself to me and I was happy to take it. DOWNTOWN DISTRICT AND CLOSE TO AIRPORT As soon as I jetted back into Copenhagen Airport (my 2nd time here in addition to my 1st two (2) hour layover in this airport on way to Stockholm), I jumped into the rail-car at the adjacent train station. Not more than 12 mins, I was at the downtown Central Train Station, and only a block and a half from Urban House! And most of the time I would be on a walk-a-bout and not in the room anyways, so I didn't want to waste my money there. The room didn't have a TV anyways - entertainment was outside of the room. ENTERTAINMENT! ..and speaking of entertainment, Urban House had a full-on bar / cafe / "Student Union"-feel open area at street level. In fact, the guy serving beers, took a quick break so he could check me in. The gal that was serving breakfast the next day was the one who checked me out: as it turns out, a good consolidation of tasks combined in their multi-talented staff. I ventured out in the afternoon and evening (twice actually) to grab some excellent Thai food back in the Train Station. And then again to a bar a few blocks away that was hosting a Jazz festival. There was plenty to do, places to eat, immerse oneself into the night life, all within blocks of Urban House. No car needed. THE ROOM As mentioned no TV, but that was not missed.
