I took my ailing terminal to Zaxx's to get the work done. I fully expected the work to take more than a day because I got there late in the morning. To my surprise, I received a call less than 5 hours later telling me that my computer was ready for pick up!! The personnel at the shop is friendly and courteous; and my bill was exactly the same as the estimate. Zaxx's is a top-shelf repair shop!!

Finally, when my home office computer began to shut off without warning, they worked with me to make sure that not only did I have a replacement, but all my important files for work were transferred over. All for an unimaginably low price. My desperation over the loss of my ability to work in this economy didn't bring me to tears, but their unexpected kindness and sincere desire to help me, did. When we entered the presumable owner and a friend were at the counter toward the back of the store, shooting the breeze. No acknowledgment or greeting when we came in. The store has a strong, sweet smell that was unpleasant so we only stayed for about five minutes. There's a small area of collectibles and jewelry to peruse. I stood at a jewelry case for a couple minutes admiring a pair of leaf-shaped earrings and trying to decide if I wanted them, but I deemed them too large and in any case, was never acknowledged or offered help to get them even if I did. However, unlike my childhood memories, many things were crazy overpriced. A bag of plastic army men? Nine dollars. Yep. Small bunches of plastic flowers were in the $5-12 range. There were some great steals (all greeting cards were $1), but most purchases just weren't practical. Many items in the pharmacy were either expired or just about to and items were very random. I'm not familiar enough with Nekoosa to know if there are other alternatives or if this is where to get random items but it's not a bad stop on a lark. If you don't have anything in mind you might stumble across a great find, but if you have a particular mission you might come up short.

I always try and work with local jewelers as they are often rooted in the community which gives support back to that community. With that being said, the biggest concern that I would warn people in the Wisconsin Rapids area is that Paul Gross, in specific Robin, has a very entitled opinion and frankly can be very standoffish. I brought a loose diamond in to have set - when asked if they could set this the first request was what type of setting do I want to have.... this is typical and expected. I chose a couple different settings and when I asked about price I was amazed at what I heard. Now, I know the lights have to get paid, but for a simple setting with less that 60 ct. pts, I would not expect platinum to come in at over 2800 USD. Taken back a bit, I explained I may use my own setting and have their gold smith set it for me. Needless to say, I left the store with a very unsure answer and frankly I felt like as soon as I just asked for the stone to be set no one else in the store wanted toe help me. I know 200 USD isn't the typical 5k plus they want for sales, but remember this is a small community and a sale is a sale. I called back about three days later and asked if they would be willing to set the stone. The owner gave me a blunt answer of "NO." I then asked where else in town I could get this set, after a lengthy explanation of why she didn't know I said thank you and good bye. In short this business is garbage: 1. No customer support 2. Not willing to give you the time of day if you won't drop a serious dollar 3. Rude 5. Over bearing 6. Lies I would never go to a jeweler I do not trust... and I DO NOT TRUST THESE FOLKS.

Any bird seed I've bought from here was always of high quality. No little bugs or shriveled up peanuts from here. We have been getting our dry cat food from here now exclusively. PetCo couldn't compete in price for the quality we are getting here. We figure that by buying better cat food we save on not having to take our cats to the vet for problems so the better food here saves us money in the long run. Try even finding a dry cat food at PetCo with no grain in it. One would think that since cats never eat grain in the wild it should be easy to find a grain free cat food, but that is where Jay Mar comes to the rescue. They also have some cat hair ball gel with catnip in it that our long haired cat loves. Any of the other hairball gel the cat hated and would only eat it if you rubbed it on her paw. I went through this rambling about our cats to show that if it's your cat, dog, lawn, garden, or birds that your trying to find just the right thing for, then try here. The workers are very knowledgeable and helpful too, yet they are very respectful to just let you just look around without being pestering if that is what you want.
