I informed them we needed a follow up as per the on call physician and added that she had a fall two weeks prior and we needed to check on a small crack in her pelvis that had been treated by an emergency doctor in Alabama. The representative offered the first abvailable appoinment 12 weeks away (October 14). She then had only one available virtual appointment five days later that didn't work and put me on a waiting list for the following Friday. I called today to inform them I am changing practices as the new facility was able to see her as a NEW patient within the week. I called Emory to inform them of our change and to take us of their waiting list and the attendant on that call said they had tried to call later that 1st day to schedule an appointment and neither my mother nor I, as her POA and prefered contact, received that call. We initially chose Emory as long time residents of GA and I would never suggest anyone at any age or health level choose Emory. I will say I liked Dr O'Neal and believe she would admit she is overworked if I had had the opportunity to speak with her. There are many Primary Care Practices for Seniors that make healthcare a priority. Emory does not fall in that category.

I live up in midtown now and still make the 30 min drive whenever I need to go see him...he has the BEST bedside manner, makes you feel like you're one of his friends, AND he always gives your medicine to you from his sample closet so you don't have to spend money on prescriptions. After going to several doctors and specialists since I was 15 to try and figure out what was wrong with my stomach, Dr. Lockwood did a simple blood test and found out I was allergic to dairy - that's all it took! I was never the type to leave review(s), but today is the day that I do! If I could give zero…read morestars, I would. I was referred here by my PCP as a new patient. My first appointment on 11/10 at 8:10 a.m. was a mess: the waiting room was packed, check-in lines moved slowly, and although I arrived at 8:00 a.m., I wasn't checked in until 8:50 AM. It's as if they scheduled everyone at the same time. A manager apologized and rescheduled me, promising a better experience next time. On 11/20, check-in was smoother, and I was seen quickly. Dr. Jabren was courteous and recommended surgery, but the visit felt rushed, given the significance of that surgical recommendation. What happened next is why I'm leaving this review. From 11/20 to today, 12/15, no one from the office has called to schedule the procedure, despite my multiple voicemails, near-daily calls with updates, and a patient-portal message that went unanswered. Kathy in billing was helpful in getting hospital approval, but the overall lack of follow-through on scheduling was unacceptable, especially with a note in my chart about a possible lingering infection. For comparison, Advanced Urology in Alpharetta with Dr. Kushan Radadia scheduled me within 24 hours of my first call, reviewed my prior records, took the time to explain the plan, and booked my procedure the next day, which is this week. Meanwhile, I am still waiting to hear back from Urology of Greater Atlanta as of 12/15. HA! As someone who reviews medical records for plaintiff-side medical malpractice, I'm acutely aware of how dangerous delays can be. I'm not a medical expert, but a lingering infection over months can progress and cause serious complications. My experience here reflected an avoidable delay in care and poor coordination. I'm grateful I knew to seek a second opinion and go elsewhere when I wasn't being cared for appropriately. I appreciate the staff who tried, but I cannot recommend this practice. I chose Dr. Radadia instead; even with an hour-plus drive, the difference in responsiveness made it worth it.
