Dr. Cooper is great. I'm 74 years old and tried 3 other dermatologists in the last 10 years. Finally, I found a very good doctor.

I have been seeing Dr. Stirling for years, and she is wonderful. However, the office staff and their policies are terrible. I scheduled a general check up for last October and they cancelled the appointment. I was rescheduled to January the following year and then they cancelled that appointment. I again scheduled one for last week (still the same checkup I was trying to get last October that they cancelled). They sent me a text and I looked at the thread and made the mistake of thinking they had cancelled again! That was on me, and I explained my mistake, but they still charged me $50. Unfortunately, I will be finding a new dermatologist. read more

I have been have some strange skin issues of late. Luckily my insurance found Dr. Elizabeth Cooper to help me. When I tell you she is a Godsend, please believe me! She provided me relief, and explains everything very thoroughly. She has called me after hours and on the weekends to check on me, too! My 2-year-old suddenly started reacting to foods he hadn't reacted to before, developing eczema with hives and rashes. I took him to see Dr. Cunningham. The appointment felt very rushed. In an arrogant manner, Dr. Cunningham said that allergies and food sensitivities are genetic, recommending only CeraVe lotion for relief. Gratefully, I sought answers elsewhere. Through private testing, we discovered mycotoxins in my son's urine, revealing a reaction to hidden toxic mold in our recently purchased house. The only test Dr. Cunningham agreed to perform during the appointment was bacterial skin swab. The office never contacted me with results, and it has been 5 weeks. read more

On August 26, 2024 I made a $300 deposit for a laser procedure Dec 6. On November 26, they called to cancel the procedure saying they did not have access to the machine like they had planned. They told me they would call later to reschedule and it would be about three months out. I said that would not work for me and please return my deposit. The admin told me the deposit was nonrefundable and they would keep it if I didn't reschedule. I said that was unacceptable and to have the doctor call me. It's been two weeks! I'm disputing it on my credit card and am furious a company would think it was OK to retain a deposit under any circumstances when they cancel. Should've read the other reviews here and steered far far away from this group. Update... Received a check for $300 postmarked before my review. read more

Dr. Gigler did an excision based on a biopsy report and it turned out to be a mess for me! during closing the wound she tore my skin twice and had the nurse complete the suturing. A few days later the excision developed an infection, which she said is not unusual. (So why didn't they take more precautions if infections are not unusual?) Next I used the two topical antibiotics prescribed and developed a nasty rash. But there was no way of knowing which of the two antibiotics caused the rash. I was left angling so I went to the UCSD Ready Care center on Encinitas Bld. Aftyer examining the infected wound I was told I needed to see a dermatologist. But teh wait was several weeks. However, the doctor on duty flagged my case and miraculously, I had an appointment a few days later. The UCSD dermatologist thought my biopsy was misdiagnosed and had teh UCSD pathologist re-diagnose the biopsy. After receiving a new iagnosis and different treatment the wound ha healed well. But because of teh mess Dr. Gigler mad of my wound it took a long time to heal. I would not recommend Comprehensive Dermatology because they seem to be more interested in seeing patients quickly and doing as many procedures as they can. It seems the practice is more money driven and prefers cosmetic procedures over actual skin cancer issues. read more

Getting my appointment was quick and easy. The front office staff were friendly and efficient . The medical assistant brought me back to the exam room early and the doctor promptly came into the exam room. She was thorough and diagnosed the spot on my nose and provided two options for treatment. I will return to the office if necessary. read more

If you care at all about your skin or the slightly concerning spot n your skin, please never go to this place. Despite all the degrees they tout and have placed anywhere and everywhere. This group is the about how many patients to see in one day. I went there with high expectations and after one prescription after another and five months I learned the hard way.It seems every doctor there was so super focused on furthering their education in a classroom, they forgot to take the caring about your patients class. There is absolutely no care or concern for you the patients. After going through the worst part of my life so far, trying to get help from them. I was coldly turned away today saying to me " if you don't like it here maybe you should go somewhere else. I was shocked and mortified to be sent away with no compassion for me at all. I repeat do not be fooled by all their further education and expertise, they are a cookie cutter operation and seem to forgotten why they became doctors in the first place. Absolutely no doctor patient feeling at all. No doctor there ever called me for any follow up on how I was doing. Unless it's the Botox , cosmetic reasons don't go there. It is thumiliating place I have ever been, after suffering from skin cancer from all my days at the beach when I was young not thinking of the results I would have now. If you are like me, don't waste your time or money by going there and thinking your getting the best care, I assure you and beg you never go there, it will take years off your life. I highly recommend Dr. Cunningham! My daughter has a cyst removed below her eye. She did a great job during the procedure and my daughter is healing perfectly!! It's been 3 weeks and you can't even see where it was! Her medical assistant was so kind and even played Taylor swift to help calm my daughter's nerves. I called Monday early morning April 4th to schedule an appointment. Explained that I have red dry skin on my eyelid which is very painful and need to be seen as soon as possible. The receptionist said: sure, we are fully booked till the end of Jun (3 months) and we will get a $50 deposit to schedule an appointment for you sometime after end of June. My son's acne was flaring up and we couldn't get in to see our specialist in our healthcare group. A friend recommended this place. While they got us right in and seemed good initially, our following visits were rushed and Dr Carter was outright rude. The minute she walked in to our meeting, she said wow, your skins looks awful...not what you say to a sensitive teenager or anyone. They do not have a system in place for you to contact the doctor nor to get details on your biopsy. I was called, and told it was negative and that I would need to schedule a visit which was another month out to get more information beyond the negative result. So what was it? And what do I do about the big red thing on my arm? I drove to their office and got the records so I could have the full details of the results. I gave them to my primary care doctor so we could begin treatment sooner. There should be some type of patient portal to message the doctor, and see the full results online, but there isn't. I echo what so many have said here - wonderful doctors - but the patient experience is HORRIBLE due to the receptionists. Several women at the front desk are rude, hang up on you, quadruple schedule you, accuse you of lying and more. Sam in particular is nasty, unkind and has been rude to several friends of mine in the past. I guess today it was my turn. Amazing experience here with Dr. Chang. I'd been suffering from several derm related issues that were unresolved for almost a year. I made an appointment with my previous dermatologist and was told I'd have to wait 8 weeks. So I asked around for other dermatology recommendations and Comprehensive Dermatology Group came recommended by other physicians. Dr. Chang is extremely knowledgeable and empathetic. The surgery he performed on my daughter was horrible and left her with terrible scars on her face, she didn't put the enough stitches and the wound never close properly, she never help us with this and everything was her fault. I would caution anyone before dealing with this office. Although the providers are lovely their billing system is very disorganized. When dealing with flexible spending or insurance requests for supportive documentation and payments the office does not provide what is requested and this becomes a huge issue. Unfortunately my entire family had to switch offices because of multiple mismanaged billing issues. I can understand one issue but after they continued to happen we did not have a choice but to seek another Dermatologist in Encinitas. I would give zero stars if I could. Do not go here. Firstly, an appt for a cosmetic procedure can be booked right away.... A basic mole check was 6 months out. That right there should have told me what they prioritize. I waited the 6+ months for my mole check. Rearranged vacation travel etc to accommodate it. Showed up after getting and paying for babysitters. They said it was canceled bc they tried calling me to confirm the appt and they had the wrong number. Seriously?????? The next appt they could give me is 2 months from now. No apology, no trying to make it right, nothing. Please run to anywhere else but here. I have no clue how good she is...I seem to judge dermatologists by if they find something and she never has, yet seems incredibly thorough and clearly explains and questions of past treatments or current spots so that I have no doubts. We had a 9:30am appointment and Dr. Cunningham was running late. 20 minutes behind. My son is 2 years old and doesn't have the patience of an adult. Plus, I had to get to work. The front office staff notified me we were next. However, the nurse called back another patient before us. When I asked the front office why she gave me incorrect information, she gave me attitude and was very abrasive and rude. Her response was "things happen." I will never deal with this office again. Horrible patient interaction. I would recommend several other kind offices in the area. Front office staff is everything. First impression is everything and sets the tone. read more

These doctors don't care. Front office is a true reflection of how bad the entire office and business is. There is one front office staff member who is the rudest individual. I asked how long we would need to wait as we had already been waiting 30 minutes and she shrugged her shoulders and just stared at me! Didn't even get up off her chair to check. Pretend you care, lady. These people just don't care about their patients. Run the other way. If the doctors can't train their front office staff to provide compassion and practice kindness then what can we expect from the doctors who also exhibit the same behavior here. Is this place joking? I get to my appointment at 10am on 10/14. Girl at the front tells me they don't allow neck gaitors. No other mask even to offer me! They basically tell me to take a hike! This practice has THE worst receptionists and office care representatives. Dr bari Cunningham has been helpful with providing care for my boys but the office employees make this practice awful. During covid my son had a rash so I called to see what options we had. Immediately the office care representative Kayla told me I had to go through an app which we did. I immediately got connected to dr Cunningham but unfortunately she couldn't provide any medical advice given she needed to see my son in person. Two weeks later, I saw they billed my insurance company $180 and was billing me out of pocket for over $100. I called billing and they saw the notes and agreed this claim should be disputed directly with the practice. When I called the office, Kayla (again) told me to leave a note which I did and she said dr Cunningham was going to call me back. This was back in April. It never got cleared. I called again in may and early June of which Kayla on all 3 incidents said the same thing. I called again just now and she said I had to pay and argued that I was given care. Then she hung up on me mid conversation!!!! How is this helping your patients? Why is she arguing with me with no evidence of her involvement in my sons care? I called again asking to speak to her office manager and she said there was none and that she was going to connect me with her lead, with the nastiest attitude and disconnected my call again. Avoid this place!!! They lack integrity and have an incompetent staff. They are a money banking scam! read more

Had to cancel my appointment due to having the flu. The next available appointment would be in 8 months from now. I explained to the receptionist that i needed follow up checks on moles and the Dr wants to see me every 6 months. There were specific moles they wanted to follow up with and given melanoma runs in the family she was very adamant I be seen for them. I cannot go 14 months without being seen and she could not accommodate. You can't even put me on a cancellation callback list? I get there are long waits for non urgent visits but she couldn't even begin to try to help me given the circumstances before she just said "have a nice day". She was rude, unprofessional and not understanding. Do you really want me coming in with the flu?? How can I recommend this place to anyone when they don't take my health history seriously. They say you have to be your own health advocate and couldn't agree more when the "health professionals" can't even advocate for you. There seems to be new doctors/ Physicians assistants assigned to me every time with a lot of turnover which is obviously a sign the business is poorly ran. read more

Super Professional Practice with great Doctors and Staff I admit I'm picky when it comes to medical providers. I want doctors who are current on evidence-based medicine and who will discuss with me (not tell me) what treatment options are available, along with the true risks of each. I want to go to an office that has patient-friendly policies: easy to schedule at a convenient time and manageable payment options. I'm also a Tricare subscriber, so I need a provider who accepts this. Comprehensive Dermatology is all of the above- great service and attention to detail. I've seen Dr. Busch and she is wonderful. She is very attentive and listens and has a realistic, proactive approach to managing health. If you have any concerns with your skin and want to make improvements, check them out! read more

Dr. Chang is amazing, and that is the reason why I am giving Comprehensive Dermatology a 4 rather than a 3. The front desk is never that friendly, and I usually have a wait time. Do not be late to your appointment, or you could be waiting up to an hour before actually getting called back! This office is awful! Three years ago I took my daughter there for a procedure which was scheduled, I was told by the office staff it was per-approved by my insurance and that I would only be paying the co-pay. The procedure date came,I paid my co-pay. A few months later I received a bill come to find out it was not a covered procedure that is was never verified by Dr. Cunningham's office staff at ALL. I went back in forth with them for a whole year. Now two years later they referred me to the worst collecting agency in the world Rash Curtis & Associates. They are harassing me at work, on my cell and by mail. For less then 1100$. Sad to hear this group is that hard up for 1100$ must be really hard times for them read more
