I have been a patient of Dr. Alice Liu for approximately 15 years, and I cannot say enough good…read morethings about her. San Diego is extremely fortunate to have a dermatologist of her caliber, and I feel very fortunate to have her as my dermatologist. Dr. Liu is an exceptionally talented physician and surgeon. I have had two Mohs surgeries performed by her on my face. For those unfamiliar with Mohs surgery, it is a highly specialized technique used to remove skin cancer while preserving as much healthy tissue as possible. The tissue is examined microscopically during the procedure to make sure the cancer has been completely removed. One of my cancers required a fairly significant amount of tissue to be removed from my cheek. After Dr. Liu finished, you could barely tell anything had ever been done. The other was directly above my left nostril, where removing a significant amount of tissue could easily have affected the appearance and shape of my nose. Dr. Liu did what I can only describe as a magician's job. She removed the cancer while preserving the appearance of my nose. The cosmetic result was remarkable. Her credentials are equally impressive. Dr. Liu graduated from Princeton University and earned both her M.D. and Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She completed her dermatology residency at UCLA and is board-certified in both dermatology and Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery. She is also a Fellow of the American Society for Mohs Surgery and has repeatedly been selected by her physician peers as one of San Diego's Top Doctors. As impressive as her credentials are, she is also kind, personable, caring, and easy to talk to. I have trusted her with my skin and, quite literally, my face for about 15 years. Excellent doctors are often busy, and Dr. Liu is absolutely worth the wait. I would recommend her without hesitation. I feel incredibly lucky to have her as my dermatologist.

Went in Dec 2025 for a consult on filler, wanted results from an HA filler, Restylane. I was upsold on getting a package that included Moxi laser with Radiesse, a biostimulator instead. I have skin of color and should have known better. Insiyah went in aggressively with the laser, her own admittance. A month later, my face was inflamed. Was given a wonderful product to reduce the redness and inflammation. However, the areas of my face where she used the laser aggressively were darkened permanently. I was given a hydroquinone regimen. My face never recovered. I still have enhanced areas of darkness, where the laser brought out new melasma and darkened pre-existing melasma. Very disappointed with the experience at this spa. Women with skin of color should not be advised to undergo laser treatment. This spa is not an expert on treating women with skin of color. Additionally, I had zero results from the Radiesse. I was told that I would need three more vials at a cost of thousands of dollars to get close to the results I wanted.

I was told it would be refunded at the time of my visit. My appointment was with a newer Dr.Lubner. Before my appointment, I was bombarded with reminder texts and had to fill out forms that took over 30mins. The receptionist was polite and my visit with Dr. Lubner went well. She told me there is a procedure called PDT( photo dynamic therapy) that would solve the problem. That it is a pre-cancerous condition and Medicare would cover it. She suggested I book with one of the other 3 drs because she was going on maternity leave in 2 weeks. All good so far. Upon my check out and wanting to book the PDT procedure, the staff person was extremely rude and told me they don't do that procedure. I explained the dr just told me they do it. They went to get the nurse, who was in the appointment with me. She came out and said the dr is new and didn't know they don't offer the procedure in their office. I find this hard to believe. I'm sure the dr has been there over three months ( because that was when I made the appointment). They were not very helpful in telling me where to look for this procedure. I also asked about the return of my $50 deposit. I was told I'd have to wait until the office was paid by my insurance and that I should call back in a month to request the deposit back. I started to get the feeling, that they are only interested in making money on cosmetic procedures that people have to pay out of pocket for. I was a patient years back and Dr Busch was amazing( not money hungry at all). My memories are now coming back about the office policies AND some of the office staff. I would recommend going elsewhere. No offense to Dr. Lubner, who was nice and seemed helpful until I went to check out.

NOTING Aesthetically Pleasing about this place!!!…read more I had 3 BBL Laser treatments at this Med Spa performed by NP Sydney. My skin is rosacea prone so BBL when done correctly is very helpful. Unfortunately during the first treatment my face was burned and I ended up with deep purple bruises and blisters. I had to stay home for a week until the blisters subsided. My face became more red than before the treatment. I was told that the next two sessions would give me the expected results, but they did not. My face became very sensitive and the redness didn't go away. I noticed deeper broken capillaries in the areas where I was burned. When I expressed my concerns Sydney simply shook her head and said: "there is always a risk". My risk was in her hands. Her job was to assess my skin type, select the appropriate filters and correctly adjust the laser's energy setting, but she is either inexperienced or incapable. After contacting Sydney again I got a call from the owner, Stacy Grissen and she set up an appointment for me to come to see her the fallowing week. The day of the appointment Stacy called me and with an aggressive tone of voice informed me that she was cancelling our meeting, (BTW if I cancelled an appointment the same day they would charge a fee). She said that I snapped my fingers in front of Sydney's face, which is a complete lie... and btw why wait a week to cancel an appointment? I guess she decided to be offensive rather than being concerned that her employee did damage to my face. The way she treated me is inappropriate and dishonest. I am writing this to warn anyone who is thinking of using this business : go there at your own peril. There is no place for a business like this in our beautiful community of Encinitas.
