In this case I bought my tires from another source, and brought it here to have these new tires put on and balanced. Most places don't offer this service anymore due because they don't want to be responsible if something were to happen and it wasn't a tire they provided you. But this place worked with me and was happy to put the tires on and balance them. The 2nd time I had to get a used tire and luckily they had my size for a Dodge Challenger, and it was a good brand. I had continentals and the 1 used tire they had was a Kumho. The tire had lots of thread and it was a good deal they gave me. On my most recent and 3rd visit I had a flat and I couldn't find where the hole was. So they took the car in the back and found that there was a small hole...They patched it, and charged me only $5. I first called to ask for a quote for a specific repair job for a specific car. They would not provide a quote over the phone as a couple of other shops did. They insisted I bring the car in for diagnosis, so at the appointed time I showed up with the car. After three hours of waiting, they provided a quote for the service I asked for that was ~50% higher than the next closest quote. They also did a 'courtesy inspection' which I did not ask for. This inspection resulted in 7 additional recommended items totaling about $1,800. Things like this fluid change, that cleaning, etc. The car has 300k miles on it, and the majority of these items have never been done. The experience reminds me of the slick marketing we get at the dealership repair shops, and is exactly what I was hoping to avoid by choosing a 'family-owned' shop. The actual work product may in fact be excellent; I don't know. But it is probably over priced.
