I have had Complete Comfort service my air conditioning system since I moved to Florida in 2021. I have always written glowing reviews. What did I know? The techs were prompt and polite. I had cold air?
If I could, I would give them negative stars!
The day I moved in, my system went up. They were referred by a friend. I checked them out. They came out and told me I needed a new handler. I authorized it. I was not happy. It was expensive, but, what are you gonna do? It's Florida and it's hot!
[I thought they replaced the handler. Apparently they didn't...they remade the handler. All this time, I'm assuming I have a 2021 model, instead I have a 2016. FYI The handler is in the attic above my closet 10' off the ground, so I had no way to access. I had to trust.]
So I bought the maintenance plan. [At this point, I didn't know the handler was a remake and had no reason to doubt their integrity.]
Different guys would come out twice a year and change the filter, check the uv lamp for mold, and do whatever else they did with the condenser...checked all the levels et cetera, et cetera...or so I thought.
Well, when they sent me a new contract with an increase in rates last month, I decided to check with another company. Someone who had come out previously, when I was comparison shopping for a new motor. I was so impressed then, w his knowledge and demeanor, but his price did not beat Complete Comfort. So I stayed with Complete Comfort.
Shortly after Complete Comfort installed the motor, it went up and they had to replace it. I wasn't happy it needed replacing, but I was happy they were doing it at no charge. What do I know. The guy says, sometimes you get a fluke.
Anyway, back to the present...
I had someone come out yesterday. The same person who had impressed me when I was shopping for the motor.
That's when I found out that the handler is a two thousand sixteen remake. That's when I found out that my refrigerant is so low the coils aren't even getting cold and it's about a quarter of what it should be. That's when I found out that the coils are filthy and rusted and have never been cleaned.
Last service was 11/25. Is it likely all those issues have occurred between then and now? Not likely!!!
I use a dehumidifier and a purifier to keep my air clean and to help my A/C to not work harder than it needs to.
If I didn't, I probably would have noticed this sooner. It's only in the last several days that the thermostat is increasing in degrees during the day, and then dropping back by morning. Thank goodness it is not yet summer.
Because they have not maintained my system, I now need to purchase an entire new system for thousands of $$$. No, I am NOT happy!!!
This is only the second negative review I have ever written, and I do post reviews. I think when contractors do good work, they should be commended. When they don't, there should be consequences. The first was a scamming periodontist in Florida, and this is the second.
I am a very good, conscientious consumer. I gutted my home in Maryland twenty four years ago. When I sold it seventeen years later, there had never been one issue from any contractor's work I had hired. I was my own general contractor. I got 3 to 5 bids on everything. I got my education. I picked the people that appeared to have good character, compared contract apples to apples...and the house was as sound after the rebuild, as I said, seventeen years later.
I tell you this, so you know that in blind items, I do my homework, so I go into the relationship with confidence...License check, BBB, reviews, etc. Everything checked out for this company...and yet they have been cheating me for years.
I never would have known had I not brought in a new company.
I am angry, and this is how I release my anger, by posting the facts for everyone to see.
