Took great care with my older cat..called to check in after appointment to make sure she was doing better

We rescued a cat from our neighborhood. He looked very sick and was bleeding from his mouth so we looked up the closest vet and we saw that they were closing in 10 minutes. When we called compassion Vet they said that they would stay open and help us and do what they can. When we arrived they took him immediately. They helped him in many ways and he is now one of our pets thank you compassion vet and Dr. Ravi for saving our Sunny. read more

I love my forever 4-legged friend doctor!! Not only does he go above and beyond, but his entire staff does as well. I never have to wait to see him, and they are ALWAYS empathetic when it comes down to the emotional attachment thats always through the door before me. Dr Muraka , Just want to say that you dont get any better than this man. He saved my both my cats. Gracie had a serious uti and Dr Muraka prescribed her a different food which totally brought her back to normal. Baby our second cat was brought in to him after my wife and I discovered an acetone smell on his breath, it turned out that he had diabetes real bad and spent 3 days in the hospital. Dr Muraka and his staff brought him back to normal and am happy to say hes back home and doing GREAT !!!! Many many many thanks to Dr. Muraka and the amazing staff here !!! read more

Nope. Two visits & I'm done. Didn't leave with any answers either time. This last time was critical. My senior cat had a list of some pretty scary symptoms. Dr. Ravi kept referring to her as "it" the entire visit. We had bloodwork done. I wasn't given any paperwork to even show for my visit when I left. It took phone calls and an in person visit over a 3 week period of me practically begging to have the blood test results emailed to me. Because all Dr. Ravi told me was that she didn't have what we suspected that she had. Well, then what was causing her issues?! I knew something was wrong. When I finally got a copy of the results, it was obvious (per Google) that she had infection in her body. No mention of this when he called with the results. Well good thing I went to get the opinion & care from another vet. She had 2 different types of serious infection, along with two additional serious conditions. All it took was a little professional care to get her tested, diagnosed, & treated. Dr. Ravi left her suffering to die slowly with no answers or interest in finding answers. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because the prices are reasonable. Cost more than the spca vet but less than the chain pet hospital. read more

Dr M is an amazing and talented vet! I'm in his office weekly with rescue and he goes above and beyond with his wonderful vet tech Judy to help them stay healthy and care for them in their worse moments. He always makes time for his patients and our rescues. read more

This was my first ever experience with a vet, so I do not have a basis of comparison, but I was pleased with the services provided by Dr. Ravi and his caring staff. My foster dog had an emergency (swallowed dental floss) and they accommodated us beyond their closing time. They treated my dog with a lot of care and did their best to alleviate my concerns. Thankfully my dog was fine. Dr. Ravi even called to check on him the next day. He appears to be knowledgeable and I felt like my dog was in good hands. read more

I am extremely EXTREMELY disappointed by my encounter with Dr. Murarka and the Compassion Vet Clinic. To begin, I set my appointment 2 weeks in advance to get my rabbit spayed. When I called the receptionist said that she would call be back in less than 10 minutes with more information. Over a half hour later, I dialed back because it was approaching the end of the business day. They said that they spay many rabbits so that it would not be a problem. Yesterday, the date of my appointment, I arrived at 6:00pm, my scheduled time. The clinic was closed. At 6:15 I get a phone call saying that they were running late and would arrive in 5-10 minutes. 25 minutes later, I call back and, sounding annoyed that I called back, he replied that he was stuck in traffic and offered no apologies for my inconvenience. At 7:30, the doctor arrived and, saying NOTHING at all to the two cars in the parking lot that had been waiting for a while, just walks into the clinic. I go in and the only words spoken to me were, "Fill out this form." After I did, I waited about 15 more minutes until I was led to the back. There, the doctor inspected my bunny and made a comment about the risk of this procedure due to the anesthesia. This did not concern me -- until he made another comment about the fact that he was warning me in advance so "if something happened, I can't blame him because he warned me" The way he phrased this comment raised red flags, so I asked him to elaborate. To which he responded, "We lose some." I asked what percentage and he hedged, not giving me a straight answer. After me repeating the question 3-4 times and getting evasive answers, he finally responds, "about 25%." Given how he avoided answering the question, I have no doubt that the percentage was higher. Spaying/Neutering is not a life/death procedure and a death rate of 25% is ludacris! I was aghast that, when I originally called to schedule the appointment and questioned if the doctor had the experience to spay rabbits, I was assured that he was an excellent doctor and was not told that over one-quarter of his rabbit patients have died! I can not comment on his ability to treat cats and dogs but, if you have a rabbit, stay away from this shady clinic! read more

My experience with Dr. Murarka was great. I adopted a kitten and was calling around to get prices on Veterinarian visits. His prices were very reasonable so I called and he was able to get me in the very next day. When I arrived at his office I was greeted by friendly staff and my wait time was no more the 10 minutes. The doctor was great during the exam, talking to my kitten in a calming voice and explaining to me what he was doing. Terrible vet.. A cat got hit by a car on valentines day right down the street from his establishment. I ran the cat inside, it was obviously dying so I asked him to look at the cat and put him to sleep so that he would not suffer. The vet said he needed $75.00 just for medications to put the cat to sleep. I did not have this kind of money, so he said I had to leave with the dying cat and go somewhere else. This vet is so cold and uncommpassionate that I would never recommend anyone take their animal here. I went to a different vet with the cat and they took cat right out of my arms as soon as I walked through the door, examined the cat and determined it needed to be put down. There was no charge and they helped me so much. read more

Dr. Murarka is a fantastic vet! I have been taking my animals to him for a long time. He is a skilled surgeon, I would not take my dogs to anyone else if they needed surgery. His practices have convenient hours and if I need to bring one of my dogs in for a quick visit for their vaccinations, he tells me to bring them right in. Cannot say enough about how caring and dedicated he is to animal health. read more

Dr. Murarka is wonderful. He's not a man of many words, but the way he handles animals speaks volumes. I would not take my rabbits anywhere else! He spayed both of my rabbits, I don't believe the other post with the 25% death rate nonsense. I was VERY stressed out when I brought my bunnies in for their surgery, I just adopted them that week and I was very protective of them. He assured me everything would be okay, that he had plenty of experience, and sure enough, it was. The office followed up with me the next few days to make sure my girls were okay and to answer any questions I had. Dr. Murarka is great with rabbits and not many vets see them. Don't take your fur babies to anyone else. You won't be disappointed. read more

We needed boarding for our special-needs bearded dragon-- named Zeus. We were so happy that they took him in and gave him the special care that he needed when we went on vacation. I could not be happier with how detailed they were with when they were giving vitamins, feeding, bathing, and so forth. He came home looking so healthy and was shedding properly. We couldn't have gone on vacation without their love and compassion for Zeus. Definitely recommend this place for any type of boarding or care!!!! read more

I am extremely satisfied with the quality of service, the intelligence and compassion of Dr. Murarka. He will spend time with you to discuss your pet even if many patients are waiting. He keeps office hours after 5 to accommodate those who work during the day. ....and fully discusses options and lets me make decisions about what my pet needs rather than trying to pressure me into high risk, painful and costly surgeries. I am so unhappy with the service and general cleanliness of this place. I am new to the area and was looking to establish a relationship with a vet in the area, this will not be the one I go back to! I took my 6 month old kitten to be spayed last night. When we arrived the waiting room was Dirty, but just appeared to be animal prints and mud. I figured dogs are in and out all day I understand! I go to the receptionist a young woman with purple gray hair. She was incredibly nice and informative! I fill out the forms and I'm informed I will get a call around 8:30pm to pick her back up. We went shopping waiting for the call assuming it wouldn't be long since he only had two clients to see. Around 8:50 I told my husband let's just head over we can hang in the waiting room. We arrive and again the girl is very nice and receptive. I suggest we settle the bill while we wait for the kitten to awake from anesthesia. She tells me my total is 169.00 which surprised me because I had been quoted 110.00 on the phone and told if I brought my own e-collar it would save me 20.00. I did have them give her a vaccine so I expected 130 at most total. I pay it at this point because I'm just happy to have my kitten fixed and want to take her home. The Dr comes out with a concerned look on his face. Now I'm worried, he had done an "exam" when we first arrived so I'm assuming she is in good health because he didn't say anything was wrong. The look over before surgery was brief and consisted of looking in her ears( asking me why I didn't clean them regularly) looking at her back end, her teeth, weighing her (5.4lbs), and listening to her heart. Back to the vet he looks at me and says "I think your kitten is dehydrated" I said well I don't understand she is healthy and fine she eats and drinks all day long and is pooping and peeing regularly. He said well we didn't check her liver enzymes or do blood work. I said um would that help her dehydration? He like shrugged and said "she is taking a long time to wake up. I think she is dehydrated and she is slim" my husband says well she is a very active cat all the while the Dr isn't suggesting anything! He comes back a few moments later looking more concerned and says I will have to give her a shot to wake her it will be another thirty dollars ok? Well im certainly not going to say no!! This is my baby! I pay the extra thirty and he brings my kitten out in her carrier. I paid in total 199.00 , that I watched the Dr put directly into his wallet (also gave me change directly from his wallet)for a routine spay. Before we got the kitten back my daughter had asked to use the restroom ( she is three) it was appalling how unclean this restroom was! There was urine and hair on the toilet seat (ok not a big deal) there was a cart filled with cleaning products along with dirty surgical trays stacked on top of each other, a mop bucket full of green water and a grooming tub that looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years! Thursday Nov. 21st, My ten year old corgi "CHEWBACCA" had been ill the past week. I loved this dog with all my heart. He was showing symtoms of being ill for the last few days. He was old for his breed and overweight. He was full of love and had a huge appetite for snacks. His favorite was pizza. On the evening of the 20th his symtoms got worse. I sat up with him all night and knew I'd have to find a vet in the morning. Close by in northeast Phila. with good reviews was Dr. Ravi M. who had evening hours. His daytime clinic is in Bluebell Pa. I didn't want to wait so I drove 45 min.s to Bluebell. To make a long story short I had to make one of the toughtest decisions in my life. Money was an issue, but i would spare no expense for CHEWBACCA. The quality of life was very important. I was not going to let him suffer any more or longer than he was. Dr. Ravi M. gave me options of running many test and what the cost would be and his professional opinion. He was very compassionate. I'm a 46 year old man, six foot, 260 lb.s; when I was in tears the man gave me a hug! I decided to have CHEWBACCA put to sleep. Dr. Ravi M. & his staff made me feel better in what was one of the sadest situations in my life. I belive CHEWBACCA was GOD sent into my life. I also belive GOD put COMPASSION VETERINARY CLINC in my life. I highly recommend them. They not only were able to end CHEWBACCA's pain and suffering in a soothing maner; they eased the pain in my heart I had due to losing the best companion I ever had.....John read more

STOP! Go to another vet. My cat hurt his paw and tail and I went to this clinic because they were open on a friday night. Dr. Murarka examined my cat and said that he would need to clean and bandage his paw and tail. When I picked him up the next morning he mentioned that we needed to wait and see how his paw and tail were going to heal and that there was a slight possibility that he might need to have his leg amputated. We went back on monday for a follow up visit and was told to change his bandages each night and come back on thursday. I received three pain tablets for my cat on saturday but when I had asked for additional pain medication when I was there on monday but he said cats shouldn't have pain meds. After the visit on monday I wasn't feeling good about the situation and made an appt at another clinic. The first thing the new clinic (two seperate vets looked at him)told me when they saw him was that his leg should have been amputated the prior saturday since it was obvious that there was no way to save it since tendons and bones were showing. When the new clinic that I went to called to get the records they were told that there was no record of my cat having been there. My bank account says differently to the tune of $766. I called my bank to see about disputing the charges and they said it would be tough since I used a debit card. Dr. Murarka made a point of saying that his credit machine wasn't working and that the payment would have to be by debit. Now I know why!!! He's got $766 dollars and I have a cat that received incompetent care from him. By the way, the leg amputation was another $1900. read more
