We had many concerns here ranging from activities to help get him ready for kindergarten to the discipline, or extreme lack of, children who were disruptive to all out physically violent. On several occasions we spoke with teachers and finally the director and were told "we"re dealing with that" every time, but never saw a change. We finally called corporate and advised them why we were pulling our child out. I hope that these are just growing pains and that this branch of New Horizons is quickly brought up to the standard of quality we came to expect and value from the Blaine branch.

Now, she speaks in full sentences (4 months later), uses scissors like a champ, holds markers (etc) "almost" properly, and sings us songs with actions all the time. Her main teacher is master's prepared and truly pushes these kids to the best of their abilities. She loves every teacher there and always comes home talking about her friends! The other main reason I love this daycare is that they're reliable. They're open as early and as late as we've needed them for our work schedules, and are extremely flexible when I need to add on days. At the in home daycare we had to deal with the daycare lady's kids being sick, or poor hours, or them leaving on vacation frequently. It was not reliable enough and I found myself having to call in sick at my job when my daughter nor I were sick. The directors are wonderful and respond to calls and emails quickly as well. Seriously, no complaints from this mama!

Very. Frustrating. My wife and I enrolled our 2-1/2 year-old-son in early November 2011. We…read morepulled him out and enrolled him in another daycare by the end of the month. Here's why... I would drop off my child in the morning with no issues. Picking up, however, is where we had problems. Nearly every day there was an issue with misplaced belongings or some unexplained physical ailment. At the end of the day, my son's hoodie or coat ended up in another child's cubby. Parents shouldn't have to search other students' cubbies to locate their child's items despite labeling each of his items. After the first snowfall, I brought in his snowpants and boots. 3 days later, again at pick-up time, I was looking for his boots to ensure that they were still there. His boots were not in his cubby so I asked one of the teachers for help. The teacher responded that every student's items are put back in their corresponding cubbies. I responded that this was untrue because the boots clearly were not where they were supposed to be. The teacher said that they would locate the boots the next day. To my frustration, they could not locate my son's missing boots so I had to purchase new boots. There were several days where our son came home with a diaper rash due to not cleaning him well enough after bowel movements. There were also days where he developed a rash on his face which the teachers couldn't explain. The final straw was arriving to pick up my son to find that a bright, red ring had developed around his entire mouth. Again I asked the teachers what had happened and again they could not offer an explanation. When a parent leaves their child in an established daycare center, one would expect that the child is receiving proper attention and care. Clearly, this was not happening. I can't speak for all KinderCare locations but our experience at the Hanson Blvd, Coon Rapids location certainly was not pleasant. My wife and I now refer to this location as KinderDontCare.

Not once in the past six years have we ever had any issues with the school the kids love it here they enjoy the teachers and they enjoy making new friends every day. The interaction is awesome and the teachers make sure to do a good job of keeping the parents updated on what they're doing every day. My wife and I also got married at this church and we attend church year. They try to serve breakfast at least a couple times a month to really keep the community together. The church is very proactive and do a lot for the community I'm very proud to have me and my family members here.

I was talking with her teachers and preschool director about this for a few months because it was only worsening. The teachers were extremely rude and their only advice to me was that we had to have play dates with the other families/children from class. How was this the only solution and why was this required in order for my daughter to enjoy and thrive in school? Finally one day at home, my daughter told me that "my teachers at school hurt me" and she showed my how they hurt her -- grabbing her arm hard. We immediately withdrew her from school. Not only did we have a major struggle integrating my daughter into a new preschool since she was scared to death being in a classroom environment, but she still thinks about her horrible experience there and told us out of the blue 6 months ago that "my mean teachers kicked me" and she demonstrated that to me. Kids don't have the ability to make this stuff up..!!! What is most upsetting is that we were members of this church and the pastor told my husband "we have never had complaints about these teachers". Well good for you!!!! After we stopped going to this disgusting church and preschool, our daughter eventually healed and we got her back again!! She went to an absolutely amazing new preschool who helped her become less scared of school and she got her excitement back again for going to learning!! She made tons of friends at her new school, learned a lot, and loved going! My biggest regret was not taking her out of Peace Preschool sooner.

So, here's me paying it forward for other busy parents who want to search for daycare: Cost: We consistently paid around $1350-1525 depending on which room our child was in. He started in infant and moved up to toddler. Pros: - Wonderful teachers. Most have degrees, and all of them clearly love children. They seem happy as employees, which is great. - Director on site is the owner. You can tell she really cares about her staff, the kids, and the families. She's extremely accommodating - we changed our schedules multiple times and she was able to help us each time. - Easily the cleanest, most updated site that we visited. - Our son loved it there! - They are great at transitioning children out of the infant room to toddler room to make the kids feel really comfortable. - Great communication with parents: they send multiple photos a day through e-mail, and keep great records of what went on each day with your child. They let you know when he hits milestones and is progressing with new skills. - Great outdoor area - Fun events (bouncy house, fire trucks coming on site, etc) - The hours are great, and extend until 6pm. - Automatic tuition withdraw is a nice option Cons: - Cost. We toured a few places, and it was the most expensive in the area, and included the least amount of "extras." - you have to bring your own bibs, sippy cups, and breakfast. For the price of tuition, I was always frustrated that I had so much work to do to get him ready for daycare in the morning. - constant messy clothes. I wish they'd invest in better art bibs/smocks, and I wish they'd provide bibs for meal time. If i forgot to send one, I knew for sure he would come home in a new outfit. - Food costs extra (about $60/month for two snacks and lunch each day) and doesn't include breakfast. - Some of the food was unimpressive at times (bread and butter for snack?), not organic, lots of breaded chicken dishes, etc Overall: the price was worth it for us, especially when he was an infant. We were really confident in the care he got, and he learned so much. We loved all of the art projects he brought home, and the communication they had with families.
