So thankful for Revival Center! I've been going to Revival Center throughout the years from…read moreyouth/teen church, to adulthood, and now I send my son to the nursery for children's church. Even on the Sundays my family does not go in person, we always love watching online. This church has been vital in my spiritual growth over the years. I love that as a church we have been reading the entire Bible from Genesis to now we're in Mark. And the sermons reflect each passage we read. Revival Center sticks to the Word of God. People are like family here and we're all growing in the Lord. I also love how this church serves. There's always an opportunity to serve within the church and serving the community. Jesus calls us to serve and this ministry reflects that. Thank you to every Pastor, usher, children's church staff, musician, and behind the scenes staff that serve at Revival Center for your ministry!

I visited the ministry to attend a friend's funeral, who was a member of the church. The purpose of this review is to share the apparent heartbeat of the ministry, which is kindness. People in general tend to be kind when you gather to mourn. But I could discern the staff at Revival Center, are genuinely kind: from the people who greeted us before we reached the door, to the foyer, to the sanctuary..everyone intentionally greeted us, smiled, said good morning, asked if we needed anything, and showed us where the bathrooms were, unprompted. My husband recently had surgery and we wanted to sit in the back to not disrupt other mourners if he needed to get up. As the usher planned to seat us, I asked if we could sit near the back and why. She immediately said yes, asked us to wait a moment, signaled two other ushers, the three quickly talked and shared the seating options that would best accommodate our situation. I'd certainly return to worship. Apostle Nutt also shared a word of encouragement to the mourners that I will carry with me. Beautiful ministry.

He manages to keep the mass and the Gospel sounding interesting and from the heart, which is very important, I feel, for all the parishioners to stay interested and actually listen to what is being taught. After moving to the area, I had been attended all the Catholic Churches in the area to see which community I wanted to become a part of, and St. Basil, the last one I checked out, has seemed to finally hit the mark. The church itself is beautiful, the community is friendly and welcoming, and I feel a good sense of spirit within the confines of this church. Yes, the neighborhood is not in the best area of town, but it isn't the worst. The church feels safe and I truly feel the spirit of God here. I will say, that I find it to be very distant and cold that no one shakes hands anymore when sharing the sign of peace, but I guess that is how many churches are going now. The little head nod just seems to be so impersonal, and I wish that St. Basil would encourage their parishioners to welcome each other with open arms. There is a good amount of diversity who attend mass at this church, but I will say that the majority of the parish seems to be Filipino. But then, we are in Vallejo and there is a huge Filipino community here, who of course are majority Catholic. Overall, I would recommend anyone looking for a Catholic church to come check this one out. I appreciate that there is a 5:30pm mass on Sundays. I wish there was an even later one. Where I use to attend mass, we would have an 8:00pm and a 10:00pm mass on Sundays. This ensured that everyone could attend Sunday mass regardless of the time of day. I know we are suppose to honor and worship God on our own accord and He is to be our first priority, but I also feel that some people need the additional assistance to lead them to the Lord, and by having the extra mass times, it would allow people the opportunity to receive the added blessings if they were not able to attend earlier in the day, but that's just a thought.

You notice the way people work together to service one another. You have a great mix of young & old in their audience. That includes people from various cultural backgrounds. I am so proud to be a part of a church that is so welcoming to everyone. We have been Open & Affirming (meaning we welcome everyone into full participation and membership in the congregation including members of the LGBT community) since 1994. Another Vallejo church became the 3rd in the city to become Open & Affirming in 2014, 20 years after us. We have been ahead of the curve on many progressive issues. As part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we encourage independent thought and reflection on the meaning of the Bible. We focus on outreach and social justice issues. We have hosted the Ecumenical Global Holiday Faire for 18 years to raise money for many local and global non-profit organizations. We help sponsor the Vallejo Hunger Walk to raise money for CROP which is Church World Service's hunger relief agency, as well as four local organizations. We have had teams in the past at the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. We have a garden where we grow vegetables to donate to local programs which make meals for the homeless. We are a founding member of Common Ground, an organization that unites local churches and other non-profits in Solano and southern Napa counties to work on issues facing our communities like public safety, crime, homelessness, and immigration. The most important aspect of our church to me is that we do not just preach the Word. We truly try to Live the Word.
