Beautiful statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe. In fact, the biggest Virgin of Guadalupe statue I've ever seen. Mass is bilingual. Spanish Mass on Saturday at 6.30 PM and Confession afterwards at 7.00 PM on Thursdays.

I want to be an educator so the teacher required us students to go to a place we wouldn't usually go and experience that nervousness that some immigrant children might feel when they come to school in the US, away from friends and family, immersed in a different language. So I had to attend a church service. I didn't know what to expect when I first drove into the driveway. I did feel a little out of place since I am Buddhust, and I did feel kind of conspicuous as an Asian in a predominantly white church. But everyone was really friendly. One of the musicians said "we won't try to convert you", after hearing about my assignment. At least five people shook my hand and said hi. I definitely think all the religions of the world can work together to bring peace to this war-torn, poverty-stricken world. Some people may say that the worst problems of the world are caused by religion (those like Mao Ze Dong of China who renounced religion also did a lot of harm) but I think peace can also be found within religion. I'm still Buddhist! But all religions of the world have a lot of common. So, here's to peace for all people of the world!

There are two masses weekly: St Aloysius in Pt Arena has a Sunday 9am service and The Blessed Sacrament in Elk has a Saturday 4pm mass. As we were leaving Sunday morning it had to be the Saturday service. We had attended this church years ago so it brought back many memories. This parish has a small, devoted congregation that creates a warm, caring atmosphere. It was a wonderful mass, a unique experience for city dwellers used to churches many times the size. Small is definitely beautiful in this case. After mass was done, a local gentleman kindly asked us if we would be interested in seeing the rectory, an adjunct to the church where visiting priests can stay while in the area. We gladly accepted the offer. First he showed us changes in the church since we were last there, improvements made while maintaining its traditional look. Then we were led through a surprisingly large rectory, with many rooms and gorgeous views looking directly down on the ocean front. He proudly went over the numerous upgrades they had made over the years - it was beautiful without losing any of the historic touches. This church has a marvelous history and it is meticulously documented on the church website. Historic photos, a narrative history, and pastors through the years are here. A model that could nicely enhance any church. If you're in the area, take advantage of the opportunity to visit this church and make a memory.

My family and I were looking around for a familiar face and one older man was staring at me then made the sign of the cross in a very unchristian way. The service itself was pretty good. There was a woman with blue hair sitting behind us that seemed to be actually heckling us which was the strangest thing I've ever experienced in a church. I've been attending a fantastic online church for the past 10 years but had been looking for a physical one but unfortunately had the worst experience here. The church is meant to help the "least of these" and we most definitely didn't experience that here. Jesus is faithful and we still had an encounter with Jesus but I hope this church becomes what Jesus intended it to be...not a club.
