In fact, things may have changed…read moresince their reviews were written because this week I noticed many cards reduced in price and a whole rack of good quality cards for many occasions on sale for £1. You will find lovely wrapping paper, bows and boxes for attractive packaging too. There are also many nice gifts to be found in here including soft toys, celebration glasses and individual birthday cakes and there is a good range of small items such as fancy pens, balloons and key rings. You can buy gift cards here as well to be used in many other stores (not only Clinton Cards) and coloured picture postcards of the area hang in the doorway. I found the member of staff who helped me yesterday very pleasant and helpful; she went upstairs to the stock room to search for something which I was looking for, and came back downstairs with exactly the right thing!

The pool table area is nice, several tables and fairly spacious. The restaurant area was kinda meh. The food was terrible. Seriously. Me and my partner paid best part of £20 (not including drinks) for a vegetable lasagne and steak and ale pie. The vegetable lasagne was blatently nuked to perfection, and the steak pie was more like minced beef in gravy with a lid on the top. If you want to know what a real vegetarian lasagne or steak and ale pie are like, visit The Friars Vaults and Jolly Boatman respectively. And incidentily, I ordered garlic bread, not garlic bricks. So dry and overdone, I could have chained them together and made myself a lovely yet lethal pair of nunchucks. The staff in the restaurant at least were efficient, and the girl in particular who served us was very nice, but the others were congregating and gossiping which was a tad off-putting. Shame about the food, as due to its location, its food is going to naturally be one of its stronger selling points. However, I'll give it two stars instead of one for the reason that you employ the wonderfully quirky and friendly Christopher Williams. Hell of a lad, he is.

They do an amazing Sunday lunch, and it is always busy so you would definitely be advised to book. The rest of the menu is delicious too, and I have never had a bad meal here. The service can sometime be a bit slow, particularly when they are busy, but the staff always remain pleasant and polite, and are usually apologetic if you have to wait.

All the ingredients and meats used in the restaurant are all-organic and grown locally, either on the hotel grounds or from close farmers. There is a beautiful venue for weddings close to the restaurant, and the one I witnessed was absolutely lovely. He was extremely efficient, but at the same time remained unobtrusive, and managed to keep an extremely lively group of people under control incredibly well! The end results were fantastic. They offer a digital printing service from your own photos up to 24 wide, and can print your photos from digital media such as memory cards and cds. They also copy and restore old photographs, which is a service that I have used myself.

I recommend shopping here before other book shops as you may get what you wanted at a cheaper price. I bought a pack of Sharpie pens here recently for a £1 and later saw they in WH Smith for £4.99
