0 stars!! I needed to add cash to my checking account today . I rushed to the drive through at the Chippewa Street near Hampton in south the city at 4:58 .. there was no one in any of the lines . I waited at the window for a few minutes with the cash and my debit card in hand . Finally a young man came to the window. i proceeded to explain my transaction to him only to be laughed at and told the bank was closed!! I explained that I was there at 5pm and he continue the laughter in my face as he pulled the shade.. what a rude encounter. I was so upset about getting non sufficient fund charges that I called Commerce Support on my phone... the woman on the phone helped me but also agree that this employee was extremely rude. I want to give Commerce Bank Branches as a WHOLE zero stars. I've been with this company since before 2015 and their customer service and support lately has been worse than anything I've had to deal with. Their workers on the support lines give you bare minimum answers, are lazy with communication and entering in personal information, and have left me without access to MY MONEY for a month now. The incompetence is ASTOUNDING. I loved commerce but this past month I have done nothing but been lied to and transferred onto the next worker to be lied to again and not helped. Each worker you talk to says something different. GET YOUR ANSWERS AND SUPPORT STRAIGHT! Customer service here is AWFUL. They need to educate themselves on the company they work for. read more

I recently moved to STL from the ATL and after I read the previous reviews I came to this location with great reservation to open my new checking account. The location is so darn convenient to where I live, I had to at least try! SO HAPPY I gave them a try! They have closed another close location to send reinforcement and leadership to this location and it really paid off!!! I received personal, kind and efficient customer service from Janet and I was in and out in 30 minutes! Glad to see they are paying attention to the reviews and making changes! read more

This is by far the slowest Commerce I have been to. The staff is nice, but expect to wait a minimum of 10-15 minutes in the drive thru even if no other cars. I'm talking even for a very basic deposit. read more

Be careful what time you go in. Went in and the teller was closing her register at 4:30pm they close at 5pm. The teller was not friendly at all. Luckly a young man working the drive thru came and helped me. He was helpful and very friendly and more than willing to help me. read more

This is the only Commerce bank within 50 miles that has a coin counter machine and it's always out of order. When I walked in, the entire place looked like a ghost town and nobody greeted me or would talk to me while waiting in the lobby. Every other commerce I've been to has been very friendly and welcoming but this one wouldn't even give me the time of day. read more

Three phone calls, including a call center landed me a voice mail. One simple question, 30 minutes no response.

It took my two days and numerous phone calls for them to activate a new debit card and new pin. I had plenty of money to cover groceries and was "denied", denied at a Commerce ATM too. So I make a trip to this branch to find out why I'm denied and the assistant manager says, "sorry (in a 3 year old voice) it's all Schnucks fault." Really? How about communication with bank customers. Turned out this guy was the assistant branch manager and his unprofessional reply, "I've heard this over and over from customers." Hey ace if your in management and customers complain about the same issue why don't you try to fix it? How can everything at Commerce Bank be a grocery stores fault? I can't wait to get a new bank and say good by Commerce. I left wondering how they stay in business. This branch is poorly run and poorly staffed. My advice would be to avoid this bank. read more

I want to be able to use this location but the pitiful level of service makes me drive to other locations. Our company has a business account with Commerce. As this location is close to my house it would be a convenient stop to make deposits. However, it ALWAYS takes 2-3 times longer here than any other branch I go to. Even if I go when no other person is in the drive thru, it takes forever. I typically will drive to the Crestwood branch just so I don't have to deal with them. There is such a vast difference in customer service it is hard to believe they are the same company. read more

Possibly the worst bank I have ever dealt with in my entire life. This story is strange but true. I opened an account and two months later they LEFT ME A VOICE MAIL telling me they had closed my account for "security reasons." ( I guess someone who pays their bills on time and doesn't incur fees or charges freaked them out.) So I called them back to understand what was going on, but it was impossible to speak to a person in the branch - you either get somebody in a call center or a voice repsonse system that won't let you transfer to a human. But the worst part is that are still holding on to my money - so I can't open a new account at another bank, and can't pay my bills. You would think I opened an account in Soviet Russia. I wanted to like them and wanted to open an account but they apparently did not want me. Horrible service (none). The location of this branch is great in Kirkwood and the drive-up and parking lot is huge. 2 drive-up ATMs. We tried to open an account on a Friday afternoon. Yes, Fridays are busy, but they should be well staffed. We entered the lobby at 4pm, signed the sheet and joined about 6 others all waiting. We all waited for 20 minutes and NO ONE came to see us. It felt like a joke. I don't mind waiting for a while provided that someone greets you and makes you feel welcome. No dice, all totally ignored. We finally bailed and walked out after 30 minutes. A couple other customers did that too. Finally, this is on the heels of my trying to open an account online earlier in the week and getting kicked out of their website for mystery errors. 3 times! Each took about 15 minutes worth of detailed identity data entry; the errors would only happen at the end. Go down the street to another big bank or a credit union and you'll get way better service.
