I would recommend Comleys to everyone. The staff know their stuff. Even if you are a novice with cameras they will help in anyway possible.

I've bought and traded in cameras with this firm for more than forty years. The advantages are…read morethat you get excellent advice, trade-ins and service. This is a very well stocked shop and so accessories and lenses are almost always available. I would never buy a camera online simply because I prefer to see and handle the equipment I'm investing in. Equally, I've always been pleased with the guaranteed used equipment I've bought here. The proof of a good firm is not just how cheaply they can supply goods but how well they do in the event of a problem. I've had very few problems with equipment I've bought here, but when I have, the owner has always either sorted the problem there and then or found a way around it via the suppliers (software upgrades from Windows to MacBook for my film scanner, for instance). Spot on!

If you're looking for a local shop with plenty of accessories and other photography related hodge…read morepodge then this is the place for you. The shops offers a wide array of filters, tripods, mono pods, cases, lenses, cameras, flashes, etc. If it's customer service you want -- I mean true customer service where someone will try to solve your problem and won't make excuses when the equipment does work -- true customer service from someone with a personality that makes you feel welcome in their shop -- then this is not the place for you. You see, I believe in an industry such as this where more and more people are buying on line that it's very important for the shop owner and employees to provide something extra. Most of the time that comes in the form of their customer service, product knowledge and general experience in the industry. When I go to a shop and spend my hard earned pounds on something, I want to know it'll work and, if not, that the shop will stand behind the product. Instead, what you may get -- as I did -- was blame on my part. You see, this particular shop owner blamed my Nikon dSLR as faulty and not the product he sold me. And, ultimately that's ok because now I know not to shop at his store any more and that I'll just shop online or from the shop in Hull. This is all just my opinion based on my experience at this shop. If the person had been -- in my humble opinion -- courteous and not denigrating towards me then I'd most likely have spent money with him for a new Nikon lens, a mono pod and a camera bag. In fact today we drove an hour to Sheffield just so I could spend 600 pounds on a new Nikon lens. The person at Jessops in Meadowhall was courteous, professional and knowledgeable. Just how you'd expect a shop owner or employee to act towards their customers.
