This is honestly the weirdest hotel I've ever been to. Firstly, it's been questionably redecorated. It looks like someone has hacked into the paint periodically with an a axe. The staff is just a mess. I feel for them because I'm assuming their short staffed but they immediately YELLED at us as we rolled in with our suitcases around noon (our flight was early and we'd jus my walked over a mile in the summer heat) "WE'RE NOT DOING EARLY CHECK IN WE'RE FLOUNDERING WE CANT GET EVERYTHING CLEAN" which is fine - we don't mind sitting there. We didn't need theatrics. While we're sitting there, they're screaming at each other about various issues. They gave us two keys, only one worked. The breakfast is pretty sad. The first morning, there was an electricity issue of some sort (they were yelling and panicking about this as well) so everything was cold. It was just bizarre. If you can afford the Hampton Inn down the street, that might be a better time. read more

The room was disgusting. The only decent thing was the beds were comfortable. The light in the entrance didn't work, what looked like had been a mirror on the wall was just nails and screws sticking out for anyone to run into. There were multiple mystery stains on the carpet and the curtains. One spot on the floor was still sticky. The door to the bathroom looked like someone or something had been trapped inside because the paint was scraped like someone had attempted to claw out. The sink had no stopper, just an empty abyss for things to fall in. The tub was moldy and gross. The mattress on the fold out couch was covered in stains and there was food under the actual couch. Nasty. I've seriously never stayed in a more disgusting room, especially for that price. read more

I booked 2 jointing rooms through Reservation Desk (never again). When I got to the hotel they said they don't have any joint rooms. They wouldn't give a refund, I had to walk over to another hotel. No rating is low enough to describe this experience. Avoid this place! The management shows no concern for the hotel or its guests. We booked a room for three days for family visiting town. Upon arrival, they were assigned a room with a broken lock and a door that appeared to have been forced open. When the door was shut, one could see into the hallway through a large crack. The carpet was heavily stained, the bathroom unclean, and a strong odor of marijuana permeated the floor. When they asked for another room, they were informed that the hotel was fully booked. Since it was late, they opted to stay the night and leave in the morning. Unable to secure their door, they slept in their clothes. At checkout, the hotel refused to refund the remaining two unused nights. They left, resolved never to return. read more

This is one of those reviews when the person wishes there was a zero star option. The rude front desk person checks me into room #1. Both of the keys he gave me were non-working. I take the elevator down. Ask him for new keys, he gruffly gives me a new set, and tells me "you need to do it a bunch of times for it to work,", implying it was my fault. When I finally get into room #1, the toilet is filled with stool, constantly running and squirting water everywhere, and won't flush. I take the elevator down (again) and now get keys to room #2. Upon entering room #2, which is about 95°, I see the AC unit is off and there is a large sticker on it that says " temperature is controlled by thermostat on the wall." There's no thermostat on the wall. I go downstairs again, this time insisting he come up with me. He gruffly comes into room #2 and tells me to ignore the sticker (??!!) and that there is indeed no wall thermostat, which is what I had told him downstairs. He fiddles with the machine (that has no outer plate at all), and after a few minutes tells me it must be broken. (he doesn't remove the large sticker that says temperature is controlled by thermostat on the wall, by the way ) We go downstairs (again) and he gives me keys to room #3. I'm not sure how many times I went up and down that elevator, and certainly it consumed a good 40 minutes, but I'm finally in my room, dirty as it is. Hellish experience. read more

Sometimes trying something new does not pay off. Celebratinga special occasion, we booked the most expensive room available with jacuzzi fireplace kitchen. Get to the room, keys don't work. Go to the desk get more keys that don't work. The front desk clerk decided to come with me next time don't work. She goes down and literally brings back 10 keys. 3 work. Hmm something must be wrong with the door right? Think anybody came to look this over in the 3 nights we were there? We were locked out at least 4 more times. This pretty big room had an old worn out couch, a hole in the lamp shade and a small 32 inch TV. Can't even see it from the couch lol. Jacuzzi barely fit the 2 of us and we are not that big. Day 2 12/31. No housekeeping. I took the do not disturb off the door around 1245pm. Stopped at desk on way out at 2 and asked if they could clean the room. No problem I will let housekeeping know. Came back at 7pm to dirty room no towels n dirty jacuzzi on new years eve. Desk only has 2 sets of towels and will call when some are clean. No call no show. Day 3. 1/1. I dont use the do not disturb at all. Call the desk at 1245pm to let them know we are leaving n please clean the darn room. Same desk clerk as 12/31 so I ask why our room was not cleaned yesterday. She said I told her too late. Housekeeping was wrapping up. U didn't mention this yesterday when I came down at 2pm? Housekeeping is done by 2pm?? She says u have to let them know by 1pm if u have a do not disturb sign up in the morning or they put a note under the door saying they came by etc. No note under our door ma am?. No one mentioned you are not allowed to sleep in if you want your room cleaned. Cut it short. After that our room got half way cleaned on our last full day. Sheets were not changed because I lost a sock the night before and when I got under the sheets guess what I found? My sock. Jacuzzi wasn't cleaned. The same potato chip I dropped in the jacuzzi 2 days ago was still there. Check out day. I had requested a 1230pm check out as I always do with choice hotels. Why the housekeeping and her boss come knocking at 1205pm? I wanted to laugh in their face. Are u kidding? Now u want to show up? Check out the Comfort Inn in Romulus. Decent hotel, decent price. Good location. But I'd find something else next time. Hotels around here are expensive. We needed one for a couple of nights, and this worked. Beds are comfy. TV is small. There are also a tiny microwave and a decent fridge. The bathroom is, well, small. But it's all clean, and well-kept, and is fine for a place to sleep and relax. Sound deadening is average. You can't hear much from the rooms beside you, but you can hear lots of noise from the hall, and whatever elephants are stomping on the floor above you. The pool is small, but nice enough. Service was great, from all staff. Parking out front is decent, but don't park beside the hotel next door- that's theirs. More parking in back. Wifi is slow. Breakfast is meager. TV wasn't working when we got there, but they fixed it right away. Keys had issues, never fixed. read more

Walking into the hotel is nice and modern. The hotel is clean and breakfast is nice with variety. The beds are comfortable but you can tell the hotel in older. The chairs, and furniture is worn as there is chips in some of it. The bathroom shower area could use some updates. They have a sign downstairs that says they are doing renovations and it looks like we got a room that are working on. read more

My biggest complaint is the pool not working and it is filthy...they have a sign that says it's being cleaned. I contacted the booking site and they were told that it would be open at 9am. I stay at this location frequently, as I have family in this area that we visit often. The price is reasonable and you get what you pay for. However, on my most recent stay, my room was infested with ants when I woke up in the morning. I requested to be moved to another room and was told they'd have to come verify there were ants because they don't have an ant problem. I was treated with disrespect, as if I was lying. Not sure why anyone would voluntarily want to have to pack up all of their belongings and move to another room just for fun, but apparently that is what they believed. I wasn't asking for a refund, just another room. The housekeeper was very respectful, but the general manager not so much. When I questioned why they think someone would lie about ants she suggested that I was welcome to check out early. Since the ants were in my luggage I pretty much just transported them to my new room with me, but will make the best of it and find another place to stay in the future. read more

This is conveniently located across from IKEA. it is a recent build and everything is new, clean and fresh. When we had a major plumbing problem with our place and needed a night away from it all, my parents were long asleep so instead of invading my old house, we ended up here for a night. I was not expecting much and instead I got a very pleasant surprise. Seeing we were in quite a state and coming in late the lady at the front desk was super nice and helpful. After a few questions and finding out our situation, she even hooked us up with an upgrade so we got a room with a whirlpool and a fireplace which trust me, I loved her forever for. For the price we paid it was a palace. The room was super clean and fresh. The beds with pillow top mattresses here are incredibly comfy, firm enough to please me yet soft enough to make my husband happy. That is a rare feat I must tell you. The whirlpool was very nice and the fakey fireplace was a treat on a cold night. We thought the bathroom had an especially well pressured shower. We had a fridge and a microwave, a sitting area and nice cable TVs. On site they had a computer station, a nice place to work out to get some tension out, a pool which I liked a lot and a great little room to sit and enjoy your continental plus type breakfast. The breakfast was good, cereals, milk, yogurt, juices, fresh fruit, assorted bagels and pastries. My husband made himself a couple of waffles and had an orange that made him happy. I had a tasty orange and banana with some yogurt and tea. When my sister and her family come to visit we are pointing them here. It is halfway between my parents and our house which is a plus. It is also really nice and I think the kids will adore the breakfast and pool. read more

I stayed here for 5 nights and not one was I not woken up and kept up by the noise of people moving around in the room above me. Even though it sounded like they were just simply walking around it was so loud!! Walls and floors just very very thin. I would highly suggest booking a room on the top floor if staying here. I tried to move but they were sold out. Also the Internet was very unstable. The staff told me when they have high occupancy that tends to happen. So be prepared to use your own data. we arrived at 3.15 on Friday the 23rd .get into our room after several attempts. no remote , lights doesn't work. they moved us to another room , our key card didn't work....shocker right...the man at the front desk even brought up the master key ,still couldn't get in,..well let's try this again ..after sitting on the luggage cart in the hot hallway for 30 min..so we went to a third room and got in..quess what no remote..no cable for tv. this guy that was helping up was very frustrated..after another 45 min , we were going to pick up our granddaughters have a nice late lunch and bring them back to swim..we didnt even get to leave until 6 pm to go get them. I have disgusting picture of poop in the toilets , bugs running up the wall in the hallway, broken bathtub . ofcourse we complained vigorously..they agreed to refund the full amount, which 6 days later has not happened..iosted pics on their Facebook page...I DO NOT IN ANY WAY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL..ITS FILTHY . I would not let my dog stay in this hotel..whoever owns this needs to be aware of the conditions..put some money into your investment andfixsome stuff. read more

I don't recommend this hotel... The sound proof is bad and I can hear TV from the next door. WiFi is very bad...download speed less than 1.... very slow... The think curtains don't close and next door is another hotel..the light comes in from their parking and it doesn't get dark in the room.... It's an old old hotel... Breakfast is ok. Hot water, yes. There should be a place for negative stars. This was the WORST Comfort we've ever stayed at. Our first room was not the cleanest, I picked up the phone to call the front desk and felt something very sticky on my face.when I looked down at the phone base I was in shock I can't explain or even want to think what all this stuff was on the phone. We paid for 4 night stay on the 3 morning we wanted room clean, we left out for church at 10 housekeeping was on the floor and ask do we want room cleaned I said yes. We returned after lunch and the beds still had no sheets and no towels or shower curtain in bathroom, floors still needed to be vacuumed that was ok it was still early. We went to visit family came back to hotel around 12AM, the door was not closed all the way we didn't need key to enter room just pushed the door open and the room was still the same!!! Husband went to front desk to speak with clerk, he was very rude as if we were lying and said well there's no one here to clean room or give out sheets. He also stated that they have to investigate to see if it was our fault like did we leave the do not disturb sign on door Which we didn't but if we did leave the sign then we have another problem because you came in anyway. The clerk was not offering any compensation we had to suggest either give us our money back or another room. Husband asked clerk several times to come look at room for himself and he refused. Eventually he gave us another room but the experience was HORRIBLE. The next day I went down and spoke with the front desk manager and sent her pictures to her email. We dropped off our twins sons at Eastern Michigan University for the first time and the folks here made the emotional weekend very nice for us. Fawzi was a total rock star at the front desk! Will Frasier made the evening difficult for us & himself & made us feel unwelcome. I'm sure he was well aware of the competing hotel a few doors down that welcomed pets & just decided to lie to us to keep us & our $$$ there. We had a miserable stay/night sleep which made for a terribly long day of work and driving, all because he didn't clearly communicate their pet policy in the first place, they wanted to save a few bucks by controlling their thermostats, and the estabishment didn't provide the tools their employees needed to do their jobs, this could have easily been avoided. read more

Great value for the price. Staff was friendly and provided a quick check in. Lobby was well appointed with small business computer "center" and snack center. Off the lobby was an area or breakfast, provided for free with the nights say. Room was modestly appointed with no obvious damage, stains, disrepair. Bed was clean and comfortable. The night was peaceful with no disturbances or loud sounds at all. The bath was spacious and great for a warm soak. Toiletries were generic. Free Internet was provided. Excellent TV station selection. No in room dining but there was a nearby restaurant advertised in the room that offered deliver. Definitely worth the price and the area felt safe and was easily accessible. Gas station with store was across the parking lot. read more

Pros: It looks nice from a distance. It's also at a convenient location. While we were leaving I met a pleasant shuttle driver. There was a pull-out sofa. It wasn't the worst experience at a hotel. Cons: GROSS! We stayed on the third floor. The duvet cover had tooth paste crusted on it. The pillows were yellowed. There was hair on the sheets and mystery brown smears on the edges. The extra bedding was really gross with a huge brown and yellow liquid stain on the pillow case. We exchanged them because we were too tired to deal with anything else. We slept on our coats instead. The floor was damp but the front desk was unconcerned but it was still somewhat disturbing. The room needed a deep clean with dust sitting on the tops of the upholstery and smeared counters. During the night people were leaving and arriving noisily which we didn't mind because we were too tired. However, in the morning we received a nasty call asking if we were making noise. We were in bed resting. We will stay elsewhere for our visits. I want to assume the cleaners were having a bad day but this was generally a subpar experience. Unfortunately this was the trend for our thankfully one night stay. Edit: Guest Relations contacted me. I am appreciative when there is guest relation recovery. Businesses evolve and change every day so I will update this review if I stay here again. read more

The hotel switched to the new xfinity tv system in our room it took 5 days for them to finally get it working. It would work for a while and then when you turn it off and back on it was not working. One of my worse experiences ever. Something's changed, and not for the better. I've stayed here for years when I've come to visit family and have enjoyed good visits in the past, but this experience was quite different. I arrived and was given a room on first floor. When I entered my room I discovered that the door lock did not work and the light inside the ceiling room above the door was burnt out. I told the desk clerk and he immediately gave me a new room down the hall. The next day after I work, I went to use the fitness room but found that their air conditioner was blowing air that was 90 F degrees and although I tried to use the treadmill, the heat was too much. I went back to my room to take a shower, but first found that the tub faucet was broken so it was difficult to control water temperature and the spiket was loose and detached from the wall. Additionally the caulk around the tub was buckled in areas. I finally got the water adjusted, took a shower, but because the faucet was broken, it was difficult to get the water turned off completely. But even worse, the tub wouldn't drain and had filled 2 feet with water. Afterwards, I went to the main desk and told the clerk of the issues both with the fitness room and my tub, and she said she'd send someone to fix both. I told her that I had to leave for the day and preferred not to have a repairman in my room while I was not present. She first said that there were not any other rooms available (they were totally booked), then changed her story said I could move upstairs to a handicapped room that was available. So she gave me the key to go check it out, and when I got up there, the shower was not ready (shower rod not installed and it looked like there was a dirty shower curtain left), so I came back to the main desk and said that I would just move all of my belongings out of my present room while I was gone during the day so the repairman could fix the tub. When I returned that evening, I found that the tub was drained but it was left dirty and there was hair present in/on the tub. Also, my room had not been services (all used/wet towels still on the floor, bed not made, garbage not emptied....and when I had left that day, the cleaning crew was right outside my door and I did NOT have a "do not disturb" sign on my door). I went to the clerk again. The clerk said there was no record of me reporting any issues with my room or the fitness room, so she came down to my room and verified that the tub and room were left dirty and uncleaned. (BTW: there was another person at the desk then also who was reporting a problem with a towel rack falling off the wall and a dirty room). To the clerk's credit (who said she had only been working there for 2 weeks), she personally then brought me new towels and cleaned my tub. However, that night and very early the next morning there were extremely loud noises coming from the ceiling (rooms above) which woke me up. The next day I went to use the fitness room again and the air conditioning had still not been fixed. I left for the day, and when I returned that night and was getting ready to go to bed, the noises from upstrairs started again. I couldn't easily concentrate on my work, nor TV, and I wanted to get to bed early that night, so I phoned the clerk and reported the noise problems. She said that there was a church group upstairs from me that had music and drums. I told her that I wanted to go to bed soon, but she just replied that it was still early so there wasn't anything she would do. I really find it unacceptable that I was just expected to tolerate this noise. The noise continued until 11:30 pm. The next morning I got up to go to breakfast and found the entire dining area occupied by a team and families of baseball players who felt it was ok to shout across the room at each other during my entire breakfast. Hotel staff never had the good sense to advise these individuals that it was a public space and to keep the noise down. Upon returning to my room, I check on the fitness center and found that the air conditioning had still not been fixed. I should mention that Basil, the hotel manager, has not attempted to contact me to discuss any of these issues during my stay. I am now here for one more night. It will be my last night ever at this hotel. Totally, the worst experience I have had at a hotel, and for the price, I expect much better. This hotel is run down, dirty, loud, and not worth the price. I intend to send this same letter to Comfort Inn/Choice Hotels Corporate. They need to be aware how their hotels are being managed. I'll go back to the Hampton Inn just down the street where I've stayed previously and always had a good experience, or maybe I'll try the new Fairfield Inn just in back of this hotel. read more

Amazing!! Booked literally last minute (20 minutes before I arrived) due to an issue with my previous hotel. Paid double what I wanted to pay, and worth every single penny. Checking in I was told they upgraded my room, for no extra charge. The hostess went out of her way to make sure that I fully understood everything, and was beyond accommodating. Guess "suites" has been defined down since the last time I stayed in one of these! Just a tad bigger than a standard hotel room -- a small sitting area not at all separate from the bed area was the only thing that made it a "suite." It was clean and comfortable (appears to be fairly new), and they have more channels on cable than just about any other place I've ever stayed. Our family stayed in three rooms for a total of four days while traveling in Michigan last week. The hotel was just right for us. It was very clean, front desk staff was very polite and helpful. Breakfast (included) was OK, typical with waffles, cereals, precooked eggs, pastries, and other items. A plus were the workout room and laundry. Down side was the rather small indoor pool, but it was fine for our grandchildren. Also, re the Canton/Ford Road/Haggerty Rd area - while there are numerous restaurants and large retail shops - the traffic is heavy and tricky to navigate. Other pluses: very close to I-275 and Detroit Airport, we were happy that there was an elevator, and roomy lobby. WiFi had a weak signal so not always available. read more
