Nice hotel for the price. Friendly front desk staff, easy checking in and out. Lobby had plenty of comfortable seating, cozy fireplace, water with lemon, and work spaces. Another seating area with local brochures 1/2 way with extra locked guest key only can open it to parking lot, a few outdoor seating areas, cute fountain as well. One elevator four floors. 2 Stairways. Rooms and hallways are dated. Some Hallways smelled of stale smoke. It Looks like they are trying to refresh with painting bathrooms have been updated, fluffy towels. Beds were comfortable, chair was too. Pillows were good(too soft for my travel companion). Bedding was nice too. Heat and air conditioning worked great. Hallways and our room smells like guests smoke in rooms. Once aired out our room was fine. They need to make sure guests understand no smoking! The second room we had didn't smell like pot smoke. Breakfast selection was good. Lots of choices bread, pastries, muffins bagels, hard boiled eggs, warm eggs and sausage, cereal and oatmeal, waffles plain and strawberry. Milk, yogurt,cream cheese, jelly. Really clean and good location to University of Buffalo and Niagara Falls area. Shopping restaurants all very close and convenient. I wish I could give it a higher rating like 2.5 or 3. The staff are super friendly, professional and great customer service. Public areas are really nice. read more

We were passing through Buffalo and booked a night at the Comfort Inn University, and it was honestly awful. The motel advertises itself as smoke-free, but as soon as we got to our floor, the whole hallway smelled like weed. Gross. Then, we get to the room, and there are flies buzzing around near the lights in the room and bathroom. The place just smelled bad in general and gave off a really seedy vibe. We told the front desk about it, and the response was super unhelpful. The clerk just shrugged it off, saying other guests don't follow the rules. No kidding! After checking online, we saw it's got a ton of bad reviews saying the same things, and I'm not surprised it was nearly empty. We left after an hour and booked a room at the Hampton Inn Buffalo-Amherst, which was nearly full-and for good reason. It was SO much better-clean, smelled great, and felt like a massive step up from Comfort Inn. If you want a good night's stay, steer clear of this place! read more

It's convenient when visiting University at Buffalo. The hotel room is clean. It is wheelchair accessible, but the motorized chair for entry into the pool has not worked each time I visited. And I have visited this location a few times, so I must say this SUCKS! The manager Susan informed my family that I will have access to the pool- she LIED! read more

We check out two days early because of the quality of the hotel. Rooms were dirty, hotel smelled like marijuana(which isn't for everyone) and looked in disarray. Couple we traveled with had switched rooms 4 times, twice they received keys, opened the door only to find the room occupied. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We always come back here. Come here a few times a year. They have a nice warm breakfast spread. Clean facilities and room, prices are very good! The beds a good too. A Star is removed because they always give you problems when you try to check out in the middle of the night, (we had tickets to travel out at those times). Also, we found a few spiders in the rooms in the past. And when the college/hs kids come to visit the hotel for their games, it can get very loud and disturbing to the other guests that are also staying there. The hotel should have put them on one side and in a separate floor from the other paying guests! read more

We've been staying at this hotel every year for the past 5 years...last time I stayed here in May their was an ant problem in the bathroom. I called down and they assured me that it would be taken care of the following day. Well it wasn't and the ants were in the bathroom the entire week I was here. We are here at the hotel now and after checking in we went and visited some relatives and returned back to the hotel a couple hours later. My daughter and grandson went to get in bed and as she pulled the sheets back she saw about 6 ants! If that wasn't bad enough they were on the pillows, desk, tv stand, all over our clothes in the drawers and crawling across our personal items. I called down to the front desk and they said they had no other room to switch us to. They said they could send someone up to clean the room and spray chemicals. Ummmm. No thanks! I've got 2 grandchildren staying in the room and I'm not going to have them breathing in bug spray all night longI told them that wouldn't work and I had been shaking out our clothes and washing them because of the ants and this is after a 10 hour drive. I don't care about a free night, I need a place to sleep! The gentleman at the front desk had been calling the manager/owner and they said their were no other options. I'm tired, creeped out, disgusted and upset. Last time we stay here! Terrible management. read more

This hotel is ready to be downgraded to a Quality Inn. Supposed to be 100% renovated. We have mild on the bathroom ceiling tile, stains on the room armchair, ripped wallpaper and more. Just rundown. Not comfort inn standards. And...you'll pay a premium to stay during any university event. You will not get what you pay fir. Disappointing is putting it mildly. read more

This Comfort Inn is very nice. It's outside of Buffalo and close to Niagara Falls. It sits at the entrance to the University. The staff was very friendly at check-in. My room was clean, the bed was super comfortable, the breakfast was adequate, and the indoor pool was not overly chlorinated, as some are prone to be. The hotel is a little old but still nice and has a comfortable feeling about it. I would definitely stay here again. read more

Overall poor experience at this hotel. Was looking forward to our stay due to previous reviews but unfortunately our experience was less than ideal. We arrived very late and check in person was very unpleasant and unwelcoming, felt like a complete inconvenience even though I had a reservation. When we arrived at our room the door had been left ajar and had multiple scratches/pieces missing from the door like someone or a pet had tried to get in. The door also required almost slamming to shut. Carpet had many stains, dirty hand towel was found hanging from towel bar in shower on arrival. Overall cleanliness was highly questionable and honestly if we were staying more than the quick 6 hour sleep before returning to the road I would not have stayed as we didn't feel very safe. Checkout was met with equally unpleasant attitudes. One star as breakfast looked reasonable and they allowed pets. read more

Stayed here for 4 nights and overall, I had no complaints. The room met my expectations and the staff were very nice. My only complaints were some rowdiness outside at awkward times of the night (4th of July weekend, no surprise). Also, the coffee would run out in the mornings so I suggest either getting to breakfast early or grab some creamer from breakfast and make the coffee in your room. We stayed here on our cross country trip. It was pet friendly (with a small fee), which is why we chose it. Oh and it was about equidistant to Anchor Bar and Niagara Falls and it turns out it was quite close to Duff's. The hotel was what you'd expect from a Comfort Inn. The staff was friendly and the parking was pretty ample. They were conscious of the fact we had a dog and put us by a door on the first floor. And there was grass to walk the dog in. The beds were good and the Internet was both wi-fi or through a cable (provided). It was somewhat speedy for a hotel, which was nice. I'd definitely suggest this one for future visits. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE. Besides the rooms being super tiny, breakfast ending at 9:30, the customer service is awful. We had not 1 but 2 times that a housekeeper walked into our room unannounced! The first time I was changing to get ready to go to the gym when someone decided to walk in without knocking, luckily I jumped behind the wall so she couldn't see me. I then complained to he front desk (before 11:00, check out time) and was told we were bad silly stuck another night or we would be charged. So we waited till the following day and it happened again! We went down to the front desk and was offered 10% because that's all the assistant manager could do. I contacted the manager and explained my issue. The best she could do for me was offer me points. We do not plan on ever staying at a choice hotel and then on top of that I have been attempting to contact choice hotels everyday for a week now and have yet to speak to a human! Do yourself a favor and never, ever, stay at this hotel. read more

Conveniently located steps from UB North Campus, this inn is suitable for parents moving their kids into school and for people who aren't looking for luxury, but just a decent overnight stay. The inn has a breathtaking view of the gas station and the "lobby" if you can even call it that is less than impressive, so incredibly cramped. My Dad stayed here recently and when I came to the hotel, I couldn't believe how stuffy the "lobby" was. The minimal furniture seemed like it was on top of one another, no place to relax. The front desk was tiny, hallways super small and it smelled like smoke. The elevator, yes one elevator, was located a ways down the hallway and you would never know if you didn't ask. As I made my way up to my Dad's room, I was feeling really bad about booking him this hotel. It was only $94 a night and he was going to spend the majority of the day and night at my apartment so again, wasn't too concerned with luxury. As I took the elevator up to the 2nd floor, I saw housekeeping on their phones texting in the middle of the hallway. They didn't care to look up as I walked by, it was unprofessional. As I entered his hotel room I was kind of "Wow-ed." The inside did NOT match the rest of the hotel, meaning I was pleasantly surprised. The room was pretty modern and very clean. Small, but clean. He had a king bed which had a nice headboard and bedding. The bathroom was sufficient for bathing, etc and the television was decent size. This hotel is a business only choice, meaning I would stay here to sleep and that's about it. I would never want to hang around here, it's small, cramped and smells bad. However, for $94 a night, plus a discount if you have AAA, it was just fine, I've experienced better, but fine. They have complimentary breakfast with some decent muffins. read more

To be perfectly honest, I was not entirely sober during my stay here, so I do not recall much about it, other than the near constant party going on in the hallway. I think overall for the price it was pretty adequate, the water pressure in the room was a little low, but I have no real complaints. read more

This place sucks. we stay at this hote and people went thru our stuff(luckily they didn't find anything to steal) and even ate our snacks. Also, the A/C are very loud, the shower only has two setting artic cold and boiling hot. I do not recommend this place. read more

The place was dirty. The desk chair was covered in crumbs, there was a small turd beneath the desk (probably left by a puppy), the carpeting was dirty, and the written policy is that the room is cleaned only on the 3rd day of your stay. Since we stayed only 2 nights, we did not get any room services. The breakfast was muffins and coffee, which happened to be very good. I think a clean room is more important now more than ever, and if you agree, this is not the place for you. read more

Room got cleaned everyday even when I got a late start and left the hotel at noon. The reason I left one star off is because the bathroom sink was in poor repair and the handle needed to be fixed. Stay away from Comfort Inn University, they will charge your credit card in advance without your authorization. This will force to go to your credit card to file a dispute! Consumers BEWARE of unauthorized charges from Comfort Inn University. When I called and spoke to the manager, Susan Carolyn, she made no efforts to credit my account. I never stayed at this hotel and got billed for it in May 12, 2019! I was no where near that hotel on May 12, 2019 they billed my credit card. We tend to understand glitches happen and usually mellow with an apology BUT not today. Checked in around 1030 pm after a long day of travel, exhausted and ready to rest. After getting settled for the night, hubby went to use toilet and found the seat was hardly attached. ARGH.  So this means housekeeper knew the issue and the hotel failed to fix it. UNACCEPTABLE. At 2am when I used it, the seat totally came off.  Why it might seem comical, I've come to realize Choice Hotel is not going to work out for this GOLD member.  We stayed at Comfort Inn in Gettysburg Battleield, PA the night before only to see long black hair left in the tub, of course I looked past it at the time.  All housekeeping needs to do is have the lead inspect bathroom after room is cleaned to avoid such disgusting experience for customer.  This is one rewards programs the can shove up their butts!!!! read more

Was good until I received a call to see if I had checked out yet (1hr 10 min early). Upon telling them no, I then received a knock at the door 5 minutes later. The night before I had arranged a late check-out & it seems someone did not pass the information along or it was just ignored. Our son is a student at UB, so we always stay here when we go to visit. Not the lap of luxury, but good value for price. Have had nice rooms with comfortable beds and some not-so-nice with uncomfortable beds. Ensure your room is away from the elevators and ice machine. Reasons we keep returning here: can't get closer to UB without staying on campus, fridges in all rooms (great if shopping at the fabulous Wegman's and for storing dinner left-overs), good breakfast included, clean, reasonably priced. Lobby is OK, but have to walk down a dingy hallway to get to elevators. Free wi-fi connection comes and goes. Friendly staff. read more

My family and I stayed here while we were in town for my grandmothers funeral. We stayed there for four nights and my parents had their room for five nights. Between the two of us we spent about $1000 on our stay. Never again. My husband and I needed more towels and toilet paper so we decided to have housekeeping come clean while we were at the funeral. BIG MISTAKE!!!! The housekeeper, Jessica, cleaned our room and when we returned my necklace and ring were both missing. I called down to the front desk to let them know that they were missing and ask them to please contact the housekeeper that came into our room. They apologized and had the manager call me. She called and basically told me that her staff is trustworthy and that it was my fault for not using the safe. The girls phone number was disconnected and she couldn't get ahold of her. Big surprise. This was Thursday October 5th. I didn't hear back from her after we left so I called the following Monday. She said that Jessica said she didn't take anything and that nothing could be done. Wow. I called corporate customer service and was told to make a formal complaint and that the hotel would have 72 hours to respond to me. I told the representative that it wouldn't make a difference and that I believed compensation of some sort would be fair after how much we had spent to stay there. She assured me that the hotel would compensate somehow. NOPE. I received an email from the manager saying the same thing. 'Sorry but not really'. I have NEVER experienced such awful customer service!!! I will NEVER stay there again. read more

We were desperate for a room in the area and reluctantly agreed to pay over $200 for one night for a room in this third world like hotel. We stayed in room 414 which was the size of a broom closet. the room DOES NOT have a closet. It DOES NOT even have a hook with a hanger. It DOES NOT have anyway to hang up your clothes. We were not prewarned to bring a hammer, nails and rope to nail up the rope to use our own hangers with. What kind of hotel does not have a way to accomodate your clothes? Probably one in the worst section of a third world country but this hotel is in the US. We could not take a shower because the back wall of the shower was not installed right and it was falling off. We're not sure if the water was working in the shower either. And at 2:30 in the morning, the condensor on the roof over our room turned on with a horrendous racket, shaking the room. Our choices were to get up, get dressed, pack up and ask to be moved to another room at which point we would not be able to get back to sleep or to hope the hell that the racket stopped soon. It took 45 minutes for the racket to stop and we took another 45 minutes to get back to sleep. We had a long day and drive the next day so we seriously needed the sleep we could not get. The word COmfort in Comfort Inns is an acronym for COMe to our hotel but FORgeT about experiencing a comfortable night here. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. IT IS A RIP OFF. read more
