Spa has been clearly out of service for a long, long time. False advertisement plus the pool is GREEN

If I could give a zero stars, I would. I have many concerns regarding this hotel in Plover, WI that I am shocked it is being ran the way it is and I am close to filing with the Better Business Bureau to raise awareness. My cousins decided to book a block of rooms at this location and it has been nothing but problems, where to begin: -In the reservation process, there were numerous errors. Personnel on site kept adding rooms to my reservation that were not authorized. I don't understand why it was so difficult to book "two" reservations. I had to make continuous calls as I received emails on incorrect bookings attached to my name. -Upon check in, I confirmed with staff to make sure it all goes to ONE Credit card, but personnel still charged an ATM debit card of $147.55 that needed to reimbursed immediately. If any fees affect this account for this unauthorized transaction, Choice Hotels will be liable for reimbursement. -Was told there would be a functioning bar in the lobby prior to booking the room. When we arrived, no one was there. Was told by staff that the bar tender called in sick which was clearly a lie. False advertising is what this was. -Hot tub was out of service and clearly it's been out of service for quite some time. -My daughters came in Friday night 8/24 to check in and there was "ONE" staff member on site, doing the laundry, cleaning the pool, checking people in (as there was NO ONE at the front desk, guests had to make a call?). You have ONE staff member on site available? How is that even safe or possible? Bottom line, I guess I just don't understand how the "expectation" is not raised at this location? The front desk staff and management is unprofessional and clearly out of touch of what a hotel guest experience should be. For $147.55 a night (in Plover Wisconsin of all places), the "guest expectation" should have been raised much, much higher.

We were told we would get the Wyndham Rewards online rate which was $82.47 per night rather than the standard rate of $99.00. We were given a total charge of $261 to cover room, pet fee, taxes and fees for 2 nights (staying 6/11-12 & checking out the 13th) we got to the hotel and were told they only showed that we'd paid $143.00. We showed the Middle Eastern gentleman our confirmation letter and he immediately started saying we were wrong, we booked through Expedia, blah blah blah. Not giving us a chance really to explain how and where I found their number or even what time I called Wednesday morning. We left the hotel and called the Wyndham reservation line to explain the situation. Decided to just go ahead and cancel the reservation because we were getting hosed on the reservation fee. Needless to say we're being denied our refund. By the way, that was the 3rd hotel in that area (Waupaca/Plover/Stevens Point WI) that we called that was advertising one rate for rewards members online then when you called it was something totally different...... Of course much higher. When we would question the rate stated online, they ran roughshod over us wanting our credit card & phone info (we'd already provided desired dates). The other 2 properties we contacted (also foreign owned) were in Waupaca..... The Ramada (Wyndham) & EconoLodge (Choice properties).

Flip open the bed, and it appears to me the bedding has not been changed from the last occupant. I have made a lot of beds and recognize the telltale signs. This one had been straightened - not changed. There was a pubic hair and a 6 inch long dark head hair where someone had slept and shed a little. Otherwise, the room is quite clean. The small bottles of shampoo and conditioner were all but empty. The wall outlet at bedside didn't work. I've seen worse- much worse. At $128 in America, I don't think it unreasonable to expect sanitary bedding. Humorous side note: the "art" gracing the wall is rather creepy. There are numerous options very near at comparable price points. Just saying.

But it's not great if you like things clean and orderly. The lobby and hall ways were not swept. The covered portico entrance was littered with discarded cigarette butt and general debris. On a second stay for a convention we booked a king suite which was huge. This would of made a great hospitality room and we felt a little guilty we didn't share it as one but we are no longer night owls and need to be in bed by 10 pm. Both times rooms were quiet and comfortable. I'm new to using Holiday Inns and went to do a check in on the app but it wasn't working. They explained to me that if my room is t ready it won't work. Other apps for other hotels will let me ck in and they they let me know when my room is ready. I was there for a 3 day training. My first night there I met up with friends for dinner in the adjoining restaurant. A review was given for that restaurant. The remainder of my meals were catered for our group in the Convention center. I came back two weeks later for a Convention. We had up to 450 attendees. The banquet food for both my stays was fairly good, at my training we had breakfast, lunch and dinner. There was plenty of food and snacks served. The desserts were outstanding! Two out of three breakfast had eggs which I cannot eat but there was plenty of meat, potatoes and bread to make a meal. Only one lunch meal was not as good. It was a salad with sliced chicken breast and the chicken breast was dry and like it had been cooked for a couple days. Our other meals consisted of pork , chicken, salads and pastry. The waitstaff did an excellent job and were friendly and accommodating, This is a nice venue for groups/conventions.

The only elevator is located complexly at one end of the long building. Of course my room was at the very end of the other side. So basically, to take the elevator to my room, I had to walk (almost) the length of the building in one direction, then back across the whole building to my room! Why was this building built like this? Check in was slow and cumbersome. I believe the persons was new, and he was trying hard, but he had to call someone to help with the check in. The breakfast was terrible and all I could think was they were doing everything on the cheap. Tiny paper coffee cups with no sleeves or covers. The paper plates were also tiny. Literally appetizer plates! I got there 20 mins before the end, and everything hot was gone or almost gone. One dry sausage patty, maybe 3 forkfuls of cold scrambled eggs. Pancake machine, out of order. No one around to ask for more! Ate a banana and had a small cup of coffee. Oh yeah, no OJ either.... Just some kind of "fruit drink" in a machine. I have learned not to expect much when a hotel offers free breakfast, but this was easily one of the worst. Unless you like little plastic bagged muffins (had a lot of them) Now for the disgusting part of my stay. I climbed into the hot tub, sat down to enjoy a relaxing soak. I looked to my right and I saw 2 piles of ants! (See Picture) They were coming in from the outside wall. Wow! All of the towels in the room didn't match and I could hear the people clearly from the room below me. Room was clean, bed was comfortable enough. TV did have a lot of channels including movie channels. I had no problem with the WiFi or the heat in the room. This Best Western is not one I will be using again in the future.

Obviously there had been animals that stayed in our room at one point. As you see pictured there's mold the first room they gave us. The toilet was so disgusting. I didn't take a picture, but you can trust me with that. About 4 o'clock in the morning the smoke detector battery decided to start chirping. The breakfast was really bad. my husband was excited he thought well maybe? I told him I wouldn't even try it, but he did. It was supposed to be biscuits and gravy. It was biscuits and water. The bagels were decent. Everything was very sparse so they must've counted how many people were in the place and did one bagel per person and one piece of fruit per person so somethings were sparse at 6:30. The coffee was OK thank God! I feel bad for my husband because he did not get good rest and it's a long drive home. We have about almost 4 hours ahead of us. I'm thinking we might pull over at a rest stop or something and take a nap because we both slept horribly. When hotels except animals they should definitely leave those rooms for animal people and for the rest of us, let us have rooms without the dander. Neither one of us are allergic, and we actually have our own animals, but when they don't clean like they should and believe me that they don't clean like they should! It's unfortunate because we have stayed at a Wyndham before and this is nothing like it! The people that work for the hotel are very nice, but you can tell they get a lot of complaints and they don't know what to do with them. I think I'd rather sleep in my car than spend one night in their hotel! I wore shoes when I walked around the room that's how bad it was. But after we went and got dinner and got back, it was so late and my husband was so exhausted from his medical appointments. Anyway, just wanted to pass this along so no one else has to deal with this
