    King Bed - Family Suite
    Jess F.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn - Stevens Point Conv Ctr as part of a group. We were in town for a hockey tournament. While making our reservation, I discovered that the website rate was less than the negotiated group rate. I'd recommended checking the prices online and with the hotel if you are making a group reservation. When we arrived, the front desk staff was very helpful. We did have to sign an additional agreement (as part of our group) that we would follow 2-pages of rules related to the hotel (quiet hours, alcohol, sports equip in the hotel, signage, etc). The hotel is clean and has modern finishes. Our family stayed in a family suite with a king bed and a separate twin bunk bed area. It was a great set-up for a family. The room also included a mini-fridge and microwave. We arrived mid-day on Friday. We planned to swim for the afternoon before the tournament began. However, the slide did not open until 5pm. We noticed that it was closed Monday - Thursday and limited hours on the weekend.

    Our room.

The pictures just simply cannot capture the essence of this resort. Beautiful golf course, amazing staff. Great restaurants like PJ's and The Library are located on the property. I felt like royalty every time I stepped out of my suite. I almost forgot I was on a business trip. If you are looking for a relaxing trip, clean property and an amazing staff. This is the place. The Inn is extremely clean with a friendly staff. Beautiful golf course, pickle ball court, private balconies over seeing the golf courses. What more could you ask for?.. We were so excited to golf and stay at the Inn to celebrate our friend's birthday. Unfortunately,…read morethe entire experience was ruined by single front desk employee. Between a phone call and several interactions with her over a two-day period, three people from our group were shocked at how rude and dismissive she was. She made no attempt to listen when there was an issue with our room reservation, made no apologies that our room was not ready despite us having called the evening before to confirm our early check-in, gave us incorrect information about what was included in the room rate, and when we asked to speak to a manager she responded with "Really? Why?" We were given no explanation for why we were not able to check-in at 11am despite confirming the evening before that the room we would be staying in was not occupied so early check in would not be an issue. If that wasn't bad enough, we returned at 5:30 after our round of golf and were told our room was STILL not ready despite the standard check-in time of 4:00. After finally getting into our room, we went to PJ's that evening and asked to order a pizza. We were informed that the kitchen closes at 9:00 (we arrived at 9:05) so we ordered from the late night menu. Over the next 30 minutes, several pizzas came out of the kitchen for other guests. At first we assumed they got their orders in before 9:00, but we ultimately asked the server why they were still making pizzas if the kitchen is closed? We were told that "the people that ordered those pizzas were part of a larger group so they were keeping the kitchen open for them." After paying $350 a person for golf and a whopping $855 for the room, we were pretty upset. While the hotel manager did try and help, and ultimately refunded us the cost of the room, the horrible treatment from the front desk individual and the aggravation at PJs made for a terrible experience and we will not be returning.

Obviously there had been animals that stayed in our room at one point. As you see pictured there's mold the first room they gave us. The toilet was so disgusting. I didn't take a picture, but you can trust me with that. About 4 o'clock in the morning the smoke detector battery decided to start chirping. The breakfast was really bad. my husband was excited he thought well maybe? I told him I wouldn't even try it, but he did. It was supposed to be biscuits and gravy. It was biscuits and water. The bagels were decent. Everything was very sparse so they must've counted how many people were in the place and did one bagel per person and one piece of fruit per person so somethings were sparse at 6:30. The coffee was OK thank God! I feel bad for my husband because he did not get good rest and it's a long drive home. We have about almost 4 hours ahead of us. I'm thinking we might pull over at a rest stop or something and take a nap because we both slept horribly. When hotels except animals they should definitely leave those rooms for animal people and for the rest of us, let us have rooms without the dander. Neither one of us are allergic, and we actually have our own animals, but when they don't clean like they should and believe me that they don't clean like they should! It's unfortunate because we have stayed at a Wyndham before and this is nothing like it! The people that work for the hotel are very nice, but you can tell they get a lot of complaints and they don't know what to do with them. I think I'd rather sleep in my car than spend one night in their hotel! I wore shoes when I walked around the room that's how bad it was. But after we went and got dinner and got back, it was so late and my husband was so exhausted from his medical appointments. Anyway, just wanted to pass this along so no one else has to deal with this

I ended up with this property which was cool because it was right next to my dinner restaurant so I just walked over for dinner and a cocktail. The hotel has a sun room with a pool and ice Machine on each floor. Since I randomly pick a town the hotel is in and I don't know the crime rate of any given hotel area I ask for the highest floor. My room seemed clean and no bed bugs with a little ware on the room but I expect that. The bathroom was clean as were the fridge and microwave. Either this is a very insulated hotel or no one was around me because I never heard another human while I was there, the quietest stay I can ever remember.

When we got a key card to a room that either was already occupied or had not been cleaned up (?) -- she fixed the mistake immediately. The hotel room we stayed in, although dated, was clean and orderly. I found the bed & sheets to range from "okay" to "uncomfortable" depending on my sleeping position. The breakfast, though not amazing, provides calories. There is a waffle maker, breads, some fruit, various cereals, an egg/cheese omelette, and coffee. Hot Tip: If you want some quiet during the day -- make sure you request a room away from the poolside. My husband was trying to work on his laptop and/or nap in the afternoon -- it was impossible due to the noise level of children in the pool. Final Thoughts: If you're on a tight budget -- this is a good place. If you want a more typical hotel experience, you'll have to fork over an additional $40/night for one of the other places around town.
