The building is stunning a converted courthouse and the signature scent throughout the ground floor was beautiful. Check in was great and a lovely big room with plugs by the bed (my hotel niggle!). I didn't get chance to check out the pool but the pictures looked lovely and will try next time. So the negatives, fire alarm went off around half 1 and I just couldn't get back to sleep for hours and when away on business and busy at work hotel sleep is a must. The second niggle relates to the bar.. I ordered a champagne cocktail and as the champagne ran out half way making it, it was filled up with prosecco. I didn't want to make a fuss so drank it but not a crisp champs taste. However my cocktail was not charged for as my food order was not placed accidentally. I waited 45 mins and then was told it had been forgotten.. it was sent up to my room as by that point I was starving and needed to do some work. Again lovely surroundings but not quite there. However will hopefully try again and see if it gets a five as it should.

We'd originally looked at slightly cheaper hotels in the area, but decided that the hotel looked great and had a lot of amenities, as well as obviously a great location. We opted for the Magistrate King (effectively a King room, I think one up from the cheapest option). On arrival, we found out we'd been upgraded to the Hoxton Studio Suite (which we'd originally looked at but decided we couldn't justify the cost, so that turned out to be very lucky!). I'd also emailed ahead of time to have some wine and beers put in the room to surprise my boyfriend, which unfortunately arrived just after we'd gotten to the room, but didn't dampen the surprise at all. We were given a tour of the hotel while our bags got taken upstairs, right through all of the bar area (with some history thrown in) to the roof terrace and pool a few levels below ground. The suite itself was pure luxury - each day we were given little chocolates and bottles of water, and it was cleaned to a high standard. The bed was huge and really comfortable, and the bathroom and all fittings were very modern. We were lucky as well to get a room with a bathtub, which I was very happy to use, and found it also had a tv opposite - very fancy. We made the most of the pool over 2 or 3 days, and we only ever saw 2 or 3 people there at the same time as us. The rooftop bar was also really nice and had a good view over Old Street and out towards Shoreditch (photo included). My only criticism of the bar was that the high seats were really uncomfortable and difficult to sit on as a 5 ft 3 slightly curvy young woman. A stick insect may have been able to get their legs under the table, but not sure anyone else could! Price wise at the bar, things were about where you would expect for London - not too overpriced. We did also end up trying to use the laundry facility, which I need to give the hotel extra points for. On their laundry 'instructions', it really wasn't clear what we had to do. You have to give the items by a certain time in the morning, and you'll receive them (I think) the next day, or at least much later in the evening, as they use a specific company. As I mentioned, this was my boyfriend's last weekend in the country, and he really needed to do some laundry to ensure he had nice outfits for the evenings out in the city. We went to the desk around 1pm, saying that we needed the items back by 6pm latest so we could get ready to go out, and despite this totally going against the laundry service, they pulled it out for us and made it happen in 4 hours. We were really impressed with this level of service, and they only charged us the standard amount despite having to use a faster local service. We had room service on our penultimate day, which was really nice, but a little difficult to get right. They hadn't got our order correct somehow, so there was a lot of back and forth to ensure we had all of our items unfortunately. Other than that, I really really enjoyed my stay here. I'd love to go back (if I can afford as fancy a room again!), and it was nice having a staycation in my own city. If you're contemplating whether to go and if you can justify the cost, I would do it. Even if you go for a 'cheaper' room, the facilities really made up for it.

Only the night staff was helpful. 2) Extremely thin walls. Could hear my neighbor every time they used the toilet! 3) Extremely small room; smallest I've ever stayed in! 4) Extremely hard beds and pillows. 5) Breakfast is bare bones; just toast, boiled eggs, and cereal. This is NOT a 3-star hotel. At MOST it's a 2-star hotel. More like a 1-star motel in my opinion.

If you are an American tourist in London for the first time, this hotel might be a very rude awakening. You have a few lessons to learn about international travel. You might as well learn the lessons at this very nice small hotel. Lesson 1: In London a large hotel room is small. A small hotel room is really really small. A very small hotel room may be beyond your ability to compute. Lesson 2: In London a large hotel bathroom is very small. etc. See lesson 1 above. Lesson 3: Why doesn't the air-conditioning work? You have to pay extra for it, that is why. Lesson 4: Some of these small good hotels have a breakfast included in the price. Lesson 5: Where is the ice machine? Uhh... Eventually you'll get it. Olympic House Hotel: The Good. 1. Close walking distance from Paddington Station. The Heathrow Express Train from the airport is non stop to Paddington. If you have a suitcase on wheels you are good. No taxi no problem. Pleasant 10 min walk if you are slow. 2. Moderate price for London includes a nice serve yourself breakfast. 3. Close by tube station with connections to anywhere in London. 4. Lots of near-by restaurants and small shops and grocery for buying very cheap sandwiches and drinks. 5: Clean rooms that are well maintained. 6. Quiet. 7. Some rooms allow sleeping for 3 people. This is not available at many hotels. The Bad: 1. Poor ventilation in the rooms. Must open the window a bit for fresh air. Just the way it is: 1. Must pay a surcharge for the AC and internet. 2. Room size.Bathroom size. Previously discussed 3. No parking. You are not going to be driving in the congestion zone anyway. I readily recommend this Hotel based on a total of 9 nights experience in two different rooms. Compared to other budget hotels in London, this one has a lot going for it. There are several Hotels in the Paddington Station area. Do some online comparisons to help you decide.

However, the Grosvenor House Suites is an exception because of their "exceptional" customer service. My manager & his family took a vacation in Europe last summer because his grandchildren are out of school & to celebrate his son-in-law's birthday; their last stop was in London & stayed in a 3-bedroom suite at the Grosvenor House Suites. The hotel is a distinguished 5-star luxury serviced apartments near Hyde Park & Buckingham Palace, & 15-min. walking distance from the Bond St. Elizabeth Line (so convenient!) that the family rode the tube instead of car service upon arrival to catch some local flavor. So why am I posting? My manager's youngest daughter is traveling to London & was having trouble obtaining ground transportation with infant & toddler car seats to/from LHR & Southampton Cruise Terminal for her upcoming family vacation, so I reached out to the hotel concierge to see if they can provide the contact info of the car service that was provided from last year's trip. My best hope was GHS would share the info even if they're not staying at the hotel (or London for that matter; they're coming in specifically for a cruise & leaving immediately upon disembarkation). Instead of brushing me off because we're not hotel guests, or providing the car service contact info only, Timmy Malabago, Assistant Head Concierge, replied in the email: 'We will be more than happy to arrange the chauffeur service even if the guest is not staying with us.' He went above & beyond to arrange chauffeur service even though my manager & her family ARE NOT staying at the hotel. HOW AMAZING IS THAT FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, GOING TO EXTRA MILE!?! All 3 Cs for excellent customer service are checked: communication, consistency, & caring. GHS got this in spades! 'Communication' was succinct & thorough, 'consistency' in service excellence & going above expectations, & most definitely 'caring' especially to a non-guest. Check, check, & ginormous check! I had a two bedroom, three bathroom apartment with windows overlooking Hyde Park. The decor is modern and masculine in hues of grey and brown. A modern kitchen was completely stocked with everything from a Nespresso to a washer and dryer. Sitting with a cup of tea and piece of toast with jam in the morning, overlooking the gorgeous park was pure delight. The building boasts a restaurant that is open 24 hours, a gym and such a friendly and helpful staff. The location is perfect. Mayfair is full of fabulous restaurants and shopping. We walked to dinner multiple nights, as many great restaurants are just steps away. The concierge was very helpful in making reservations. If you are looking to stay in London, look no further. You will not be disappointed.

It's smack dab in the financial district and there are all sorts of shops, pubs and restaurants nearby. This Premier Inn couldn't be in a more convenient area and was well worth the nightly rate. Being a relatively new hotel to the area, the room was almost perfect. The room was clean, decent-sized, and the bed was comfy. Our view wasn't stellar but we got a one of the walkie talkie and some other less interesting looking structures. All we really cared about was getting to the Tower of Lonon and the bridge the following day. Except for the slight spot of brown on the wall by toilet paper dispenser and the lack of clocks and the totally-not-made-for-a-not-too-short-asian-woman-to-step-in-the-tub height, the room was better than I expected. The check-in and check-out procedures were hassle-free and the friendly staff was present to help out as best as possible. Even better, they have free luggage storage during your day of exploration.

Upon arrival there was some loud noise and sounded as if the hotel was under renovation. The front desk then advised us that they were undergoing some refurbishment and would need to send us to their sister hotel. I was a little frustrated as I had picked the hotel based on location, and I wasn't told about it when booking. If they could let customers know ahead of time I'm sure it'd make choosing a hotel easier for others. Lack of communication overall
