Tenisha T I have been buying clothes from Children's Place online for years. For this past statement for May, I paid off my balance on the due date, but because it was paid after 5 pm, I received a new statement in the mail for a late fee and interest. I called Comenity Bank to possibly get that waived and was told the Bank could only waive $15.00. I asked if I could review the documents stating that and she said there was no documentation and that it was just their policy. I feel like canceling my account and boycotting. UNREAL. read more

If I could give this zero stars I would, this company and their people are absolute trash. Their website is awful. My fiancé got my engagement ring with a Kay card and did the "no interest" for a year promotion. We took that total divided by 12 and have been paying that and then some every month to avoid any possible interest charges. We went into Kay about 6mo later and added on a warranty plan for the ring, no promotion but put the extra $400 on the card. We're down to the last payment and when we checked the pay off for the promotion, it says $900 when it should say $200. We called to figure out what was going on, the first rep couldn't even read or figure out our ledger enough to communicate with us. We asked for a supervisor assuming she'd be able to help us and that was an absolute joke! Just kept repeating "well your statement" this and that. How does the money we've been paying in not satisfy the oldest balance on the ledger?!? And why is it that you can't reassign the payments to the promotional balance as a courtesy?? Oh I know, you know we're going to pay the full amount to avoid a year of interest being back charged to us. What a waste of "management" and such a crap company. Just bad business, the BBB should shut this down. We also somehow have "interest" charges on the account due to "late payments" which doesn't even make any sense, call them a late fee if that's what they are. And god forbid you pay after 5pm. We won't be utilizing any company that uses this bank again. read more

I had a late payment. i thought i had paid my bills off, but still owed 91. dollars. After not receiving a paper bill and not receiving any calls representing academy, my bill jumped to 171. i finally got a notice on my email with academys name on it and the creditor being comenity letting me know it was overdue. I immediately called the creditor and told them i thought i had paid off the bill. I understand i had late fees. If you look at my payment history, you will I try to be always on time and payments in full wach month. she offered to knock off 30. i was grudging grateful. i know it was my fault. However, i never got my monthly statement from academy and the 2 phone calls i received were from comenity bank. there was never any reference to Academy. i thought the calls were a scam. Now, after paying off the bill, I received an additional bill for 33 more dollars. i think this is fraudulant and unnecessary. I will be closing the Academy account out and letting people know of this experience. I am Very Unhappy with Comenitys business practices and lack of ethics. read more

PLEASE, read other reviews, they all state the same! This bank's license must be revoked - its a scam! After 25 years of being a loyal customer in good standing and then sold like cattle by Bank of America to AAA Comenity Bank, I am deeply frustrated and disappointed with Comenity policies and unfair business practices aimed only to impose fees and interest instead of providing good customer service, which by the way is often hard to understand due to its agents' thick accent. It is, also, the only institution that does not provide any grace period customary with every company I do business with, including all other credit cards. My statements (yes, I still receive paper statements via USPS) always delivered late, 2-3 weeks after closing date, leaving not enough time for payment's timely delivery/processing - maybe they are purposely don't cash them until due date is passed so they can charge those fees and interest - I wouldn't put this passed them... However, even after agent removed late fee and stated that the bank is aware of problems with postal service I was still charged interest. Not only do I not recommend Comenity bank to anyone, but after 30+ years with Bank of America I am going to close my account and will do my best to share my review on Yelp, Facebook and all other platforms available. read more

Longtime Customer Since 2007 - Shocked, Angry, and Deeply Disappointed I have been with this company since 2007 and never expected to be treated this way. Without any notice, they CLOSED my account simply because I paid off my credit card and hadn't used it for 18 months. The reason I hadn't used it was because I've been busy caring for my children with autism and haven't had the chance to go out much. The most upsetting part? I only found out my account was closed when Credit Karma notified me--NOT the company. I had planned to use the card for an upcoming celebration, but now I can't. When I called to ask why, they told me it was because I didn't use it for 18 months straight. So basically, they're forcing people to "use it or lose it." That's not loyalty, that's a trap. This decision also dropped my credit score, which makes this even more devastating. After almost two decades as a loyal customer, I regret ever trusting this company. They clearly don't care about their customers as people. This kind of practice should be illegal. read more

I had an account through B&H Photo that had my sales tax waived whenever I paid with this card. Fine. I always pay it in full. This month, my statement comes, and I apparently mis-typed my payment amount last month, so I was 3 dollars short of the minimum payment. They charged me a $27.95 late fee or 931%!!! Plus, the statement also says that since I did not sign up for paperless billing, they are charging me a $2.99 "paper statement fee." Goodbye Comenity. It's quite an achievement to give a bad name to an industry that already has no respect whatsoever, but you've managed to do it! Card cancelled. read more

We set up auto pay for a no interest credit card (as long as payments were made) used to buy hearing aids for a 89 year old women as she struggles to read statements. Never advised of a "paper fee" other than on the statements she was sent, however difficult for her to comprehend. After the autopay was fulfilled, thinking the debt was paid, Comenity charged her $2000+ in interest for not paying the "paper statement fee". Comenity has demanded payment, taking advantage of a 89 year old women with little means to satisfy the debt. Horrible company!! Avoid them at all costs. read more

Comenity Bank (Bread Financial) not a good company in terms of obtaining a credit card. I have them with the Caesars Rewards Prestige. I have a $29,000 credit limit of which I pay off 100% monthly. Yet every purchase I make over a few thousand dollars gets declined. Prestige card waives cash advance fees, yet limits me to $600 a day as if I were a child. Not worth the additional fee if you need a cc for large purchases. read more

In April 2026 I had a remaining balance listed as $25.13. I was thrilled to log on & make that *final* payment in May. Today I receive a call saying I own another almost $60 because I was TWO DAYS late & I have a new remaining balance. The card hasn't been used in ages. So there is now a charge at over 150% what the ending balance was when I made the payment on the 1st? I even reviewed statements to confirm. Respectfully, no, thank you. The last 6 months of payments are all on time or early save for 1 & for that I paid the massive late fee without issue. On top of that, why are they calling me on a Sunday, why were payments going through on a Sunday, when they always claim only business days for them to be applied? Rhetorical questions. Sus. Making payments on the web or the ap have always been a horrible pain, which is why I tended to make the payment even before the 1st. So I had customer service call ME (6 days past my normal due date, mind you) to demand payment. I declined. He said he could remove the late fee but then I still had a remaining balance. A remaining what, now? No. So, HE sends me to the supervisor. I wasn't even a crazy lady asking. This supervisor must get told off plenty because she came in hot and ready to scold me like I was a toddler having a tantrum. Ahem, I am an adult saying no and asking to be heard, but that wasn't an option, apparently. Was I irate? Absolutely!! They just pooped on my excitement of finally paying off a card!! She started the lecture and then told me off about interrupting her. I didn't need her to explain to me why they were attempting to steal another $60 from me, I understood their scam. I informed her I would not be spoken to in that way, she continued to yell and told me to have a good day. Was I supposed to call back? Beg? Perhaps I do not know the proper way to be scammed. After my 'thank you, bye!' I hung up and got my statements in order. I had a balance that I PAID. I have since sent them the information with a formal request to close the account and payment for their fraud would not be paid. Stay away if you can! read more

I paid my balance a year ago on an Ann Taylor loft card and closed the account on the same day the only way I could close the account was to pay the balance in full which I did. This is the worst credit card bank EVER! I was recently informed by my discover card that someone was attempting to gain access to my online information. I was on vacation so I just called my other cards to have them froze until I returned. Well, commenity took it upon themselves to start an investigation, they requested I send my DL, Social security card and a utility bill. After I sent it they just closed my accounts. From the beginning they treated me like I had did something wrong. Very rude, unprofessional and unhelpful. I cannot even see if there are any charges that are not mine. I've had a Comenity Bank (now part of Bread Financial) AAA Visa card since 2018. Never had a problem until two months ago when I paid a statement balance only one cent short. As a result, I was charged an interest charge of $8.95, which I paid, because it was my error in not paying the full amount. In the following month the bank then assessed further interest charges of $40.95 all due to a one cent shortage! When I called, they said that they understood why I would be frustrated, but the zeroed out balance has to clear over a 30 day cycle and there was nothing they could or would do. That is no way to treat a loyal eight year customer, and as a result, I have canceled the card and will never deal with that bank or that financial group ever again. Imagine having to pay nearly $50 in interest (not late fees) over a one cent outstanding balance two months earlier. Ridiculous! Unacceptable customer service! read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. Long story short, I've signed up for autopay multiple times (I have the Lane Bryant card through Comenity Bank) and they keep removing it then charging me a late fee and making me sign up for autopay again. I WISH I COULD GIVE 0 STARS!!! WORST BANK EVER!!! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, STAY AWAY! I made a purchase at Kay Jeweler on December 11th 2025. I enrolled in Kay's12 month 0 interest program. This means I should pay $156.32 per month for 12 months. As you can see below, I made my 1st payment $250 on January 2nd 2026, which settled the January bill. I then made February's payment of $163 on January 5th 2026. I made my next payment on February 7th 2026 of $150 and an additional payment of $100 on February 19th 2026. I set up an automatic payment of $175 to start on March 5th 2026 (not shown) which was when I discovered that Comenity Bank penalized me with a late fee of $30 on February 5th 2026!!! I called customer service to get the fee removed, but was told because I paid before the bill was printed that all payments would be for the previous month. I explained to them that the program I was in had 0 penalty for paying early. The customer service agent even said to me that she knows it doesn't make sense, but that's just how it is and that she could only return $15. This is the most retarded thing I've ever heard. Have had nothing but problems through Comenity, especially Petco spoke to three different people, Stella, Lily and Lauren Lauren being the nastiest of them all have been a customer for years never have a late fee and paid my bill a few hours late because I had a family member who is sick who ended up passing away. Was told by both people that the late fee would be waived as a one time courtesy and I had to wait on a specific date to call back called back was told the same thing and now I got to look at my statement and it didn't even fully refund me the third person on the phone was completely nasty and I explained that the other two people should've told me that they weren't going to refund me if that wasn't the case, considering the issue and the amount of money that I spend on my credit card and then I've never had a late fee. I would give a zero rating if possible. I am a good customer of J JIll, but today I cut my card in half. Why? Because I was charged a $30 late fee for paying my bill after 5pm ON THE DUE DATE!! I thought it was a computer glitch, so I called Comentiy--the issuing bank. Just getting them on the phone was its own nightmare. Non-stop push this button or that one, and then a sales pitch for a medical alert necklace! Took me 25 minutes to get a human being on the line, and then, all she would do is "forgive" $15. That further infuriated me. I pay all of my bills on time and have an excellent credit rating. That bogus 5pm deadline feels like a ruse to cheat people. Got an AAA Comenity card last winter. First two purchases involved calling Comenity because the transaction was denied. This is problematic because Comenity customer service is Third World based, which often presents a profound language barrier. The card worked for about 7 months. Got a promotion about a 10$ credit if you made 3 purchases online totaling 350$ or more. After the second purchase the card was frozen due to what they considered a fraudulent transaction. I've since spent well North of 25 hours on the phone (with Third World Comemnity customer service) trying to straighten it out. I've gotten numerous messages on the Comenity site stating there are important disclosures attached.....and there is nothing. Three weeks later I have no idea what is going on with this card. Tried to redeem the rewards to completely pay off this card and never use it again.....but nothing happens when you hit "redeem". I've had dozens of credit cards in my life. This is the WORST credit card I have ever had! No credit card is worth the aggravation involved with being a Comenity customer. I would avoid anything related to either Comenity Bank or Bread Financial. There are far better credit cards out there, and ones that don't involve spending hour after hour trying to communicate with customer service reps who struggle with the English language. At best Comenity is an incompetent institution with utter disregard for it's customers. At worst they are an institution that scams it's customers and intentionally uses a complete lack of customer service to encourage customers to simply give up. Well I gave up....I'm done with Comenity. read more

Worst bank ever!! I wish I could give negative stars. I paid the card down to be able to charge my dogs $6,500. surgery and called Comenity several days before the surgery to make sure I was set. They've embarrassed me before and I told the rep in India I wanted to make sure they didn't do it again. But, despite the funds already coming out of my bank and his assurance that my available credit was indeed over $6,500 they declined my charge!! I was not only humiliated at the vet but ALL my available funds went to the Comenity credit card and I had no money to pay the vet. My calls went directly to some fraud department which was "temporarily closed" and I had to apply for emergency credit to take my poor dog home. After many many calls for days they finally told me that despite what their "customer service" rep told me about taking 24-48 hrs to post payments and despite the fact that funds were out of my account, and despite the fact that their website showed plenty of available credit, they require 7 days to post a payment!! So, they took all my money and held it for a week, told me it would be available, showed that it was available and yet it's not for a week, while I'm paying interest on an emergency credit plan while they hold my money! They're crooks and liars!! I hope someone files a class action suit against them someday. read more

They charge for a paper statement, but make online payment very difficult. Avoid them if you can.

There is a reason Comenity has so many consistent 1 star reviews. This is by far the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. First their automation is lacking options that will have you feeling frustrated trying to accomplish the most simplest of tasks. Once you can finally get a hold of someone, they are definitely in a foreign country, and not understanding what you are trying to accomplish. They just keep repeating the same thing which is probably on their screen. I was told there was no one else to talk too, and just canceled the card. The man on the phone did not seem to care, and just kept repeating how they value my business, thank you for being a customer, and stay safe. This was very contradicting, considering I just told them how I am no longer going to be a customer. read more

. I wanted to get some pictures framed and I went to the Micheal's store in KCMO near Liberty, MO.. There was a real friendly employee who helped me with all that I needed and she was very polite. She talked me into applying for a Michael's credit card and by using the incentive of a customer using the Micheal's card they would get an additional 20% off their first purchase. She easily talked me into getting the Michael's card. She was very helpful and the posters turned out terrific. I asked if I should pay for the frames when I picked them up or now. She said, "You've already paid for them." Life is really very busy so I saddled up my horse and got back out there in the real world. Then several months later I start getting all these harassing calls from a "Comenity Bank" about overdue bills, late fees, fines, and threats of lawyers. Despite me providing Michael's with my correct home address and phone number when I applied for the card. Using my old address they sent the initial Micheal's card and subsequent Micheal's bills to an address that is 3 years old. Me thinking this is just a huge misunderstanding or perhaps it's all a big scam I call the local Michael's store with questions about this "Comenity Bank" and that they all have foreign accents. I wanted to know if Comenity bank was legit. A young Michael's manager tells me, "That Micheal's is totally unaffiliated associated with Comenity bank." I said, "Yes you are! Comenity Bank does your financing card. You are directly and irresolutely connected with Comenity Bank." I left a message and my phone number with the Micheal's manager guy, and I stated, "That I would like for the store manager to please call me back." After 3 weeks and I still got no return call from Micheal's. the nightmare continues when the calls from Comenity start again. What a complete chaotic disaster. Dear Micheal's - WAKE UP CALL - You have partnered with a very shady and unscrupulous outfit in Comenity bank!! I deliberately burnt my credit card in the furnace, last January (2025). Now I am being harassed for various charges ranging from $12.00 to $90.00. whenever I'm transferred from department one department to another, they change how much was spent on the card, which is amazing since I have not shopped at Michael's since about June 2024. The staff are extremely rude and talk over me. Given that the account has not been used by me since last year, then someone else is using it fraudulently, Whoever has access to my account is the real fraudster. A reputable company would investigate this issue. Furthermore, I've explained to them that because of severe disabilities, my husband must drive me to places and assist me with dressing in the morning. Since there is now a better store in our city, and has a better range of goods than Michael's which is about 40 miles away from where I live compared to 6 miles to our shopping mall, there is no reason for us to travel the 40 miles distance to go to Michael's.
