Absolutely Incredible Experience with Captain Liam!!!…read more After being sick for over a week, we hadn't made any plans for the 4th of July and thought we had completely missed our chance. I called what felt like 30 different companies, joined waitlists, visited marinas in person, and spent nearly a day and a half trying to find something for my wife, friends, and me. Everything was sold out. Then Captain Liam called me back with Yahti Adventure Tours. Even though it looked like there was no availability, he told us, "Actually, we can make this work." He offered us a smaller Navy SEAL boat, and honestly, it turned out to be the best possible experience we could have imagined. Booking was seamless, communication was excellent, and Liam made us feel genuinely welcomed. It ended up being an intimate group of just us, our friends, and Captain Liam with his girlfriend aboard. We were able to get incredibly close to the fireworks barge at Navy Pier during America's 250th Independence Day celebration. Despite the fog and earlier rain, being on the water made all the difference. Tens of thousands of people were gathered at Navy Pier, beaches, and rooftops, but many couldn't fully enjoy the show because of the weather. We had a front-row seat unlike anything else, and I truly don't think anyone could have gotten us closer than Liam did. Beyond being an experienced captain, Liam is simply a great person with a fascinating story and a genuine passion for what he does. He turned what could have been a disappointing holiday into a memory we'll never forget. Captain John and his mate Patrick were incredibly knowledgable and got us involved from the moment we met them in the harbor. Captain Johns passion about being on the water and knowledge about the fish in Lake Michigan was extensive to say the least. Captain John was also very helpful leading up to the trip with prompt email replies and messages. A little about the boat; the boat was in great shape. Extremely clean inside and out. With a nice bathroom, AC, cable TV (not that we watched any), nice kitchen and seating area you cannot go wrong with choosing this company. We stored food and beverages in the kitchen and hung out on the front of the boat till we hit the fishing spot. John and Patrick set up all of the lines and bait and had the rods in the water in just a few minutes. We caught 8 fish, 2 even after we took our picture! The ride back to city during the sunset was beautiful. Patrick filleted the fish on our way back and had our salmon and trout cleaned and ready to go by the time we got off the boat. We cooked our fish that night and it was delicious. It was one of the best days of summer without a doubt! I highly recommend!

I went into Scuba Sensations last night because my husband was looking for a new mask, we both…read moreneeded snorkels, and I am in need of a scuba refresher before our trip to the Philippines next month. We didn't expect much given that it's a small shop off of the street, but we were actually quite impressed. The owner, Rami, was very nice and encouraged my husband to try a bunch of different masks until he found the right one. Rami wasn't pushy at all, in fact, he talked about the pros/cons about all snorkels / masks, whether there was a more expensive alternative or not. Scuba Sensations seemed to carry a nice selection of gear and we were impressed at the inventory in the store. We found prices to be very reasonable. My husband looked online when we got home and masks were the same cost online as he paid in the store (we knew we wanted to support an independent store, but knowing that we didn't get ripped off in the process is a bonus!). Rami was clearly very knowledgeable about the equipment and encouraging about our trip. I am looking forward to taking my refresher course with him in a week or so and I'll update my review if anything changes.

I took a refresher course through them in preparation for a vacation, after not having dove in 15+ years. In 3 hours Rami and Steve thoroughly did the following: -Refreshed my knowledge -Regained my comfort level diving -Gave me peace of mind through the skills they taught that my future dives will be safe ones I particularly loved that even though we were done with the refresher and skill portion at 2.5 hours, they allowed us the remaining 30 minutes of free time in the pool to continue gaining comfort with the gear and being underwater. After completing some forms, we were fitted with shorty wet suits, BCs and the yoke with the hoses for the regulators, BC attachment and air pressure gauge. Zach instructed us review all the equipment as if were at a renting scuba shop, and I found that my regulator's mouth fitting was damaged, and he immediately replaced it. First Zach helped us remember how to set up our gear, while adding many useful suggestions and knowledge to the session. Once we assembled our tanks and BCs with his guidance, he made us do it all again, but by ourselves, only saying something if we were doing something incorrectly. After this, he packed all our gear and we went to a YMCA nearby to do the actual diving refresher. The equipment worked well. He had practice 25 (might have been 28) skills for recertification. He is a very good instructor, meeting each person where they are at and helping with their needs. All the time he kept emphasizing important points and talking about what to expect at our dive shop because of his knowledge of similar places. When we were done, Zach packed everything and we left. He is a very affable, pleasant, and professional young man who knows his subject matter very well. The owners of the shop are also very nice, we had an opportunity to talk to them as well. I bought a mask, which the lady owner had me try several sizes and qualities and helped me decide on one that was very comfortable and very reasonably priced. I give the whole operation, but especially Zach, 5 stars. My friends agreed with this rating. I will be going back there for my diving needs.

Mutual friend rented two yachts for his birthday. We were scheduled to depart at 10am, and the…read morecaptains + their assistants were there right on time, although we had to wait because some of the people in the group were late. They take you over to The Playpen to get a nice view of the skyline, go swimming, and just hang out with everyone. They tied the two boats together so we could jump between the two. It was fun sitting at the front of the boats with everyone. The only downside is one boat had a really nasty smell (maybe someone puked) and the toilet also got clogged in one (probably because someone flushed toilet paper, which you're not supposed to do). But the assistants and captains were super friendly and did not charge any cleaning fee. They also took care of all the cleanup, and had nausea medicine on hand for those who get seasick. The price is expensive but if you split it up between a lot of people it's not too bad. We had until 10am-2pm (but they start heading back from The Playpen around 1:30pm).

They have a great video clip showing different aspects of the foundation. went. I received a scholarship for 6 classes. I thought that I would only have a good time. I had the most wonderful experience in my life. It was more than just me enjoying the experience. It was life altering. I really do feel I can do anything now. They also have several "cruises" during the year that do not require learning to sail. A meal is provided after the 3 hour cruise. They are very inexpensive too. They welcome people of all levels of disabilities.

The staff is all helpful and has taught me all of the most important parts of sailing. I feel like I'm getting the hang of things and with more practice will be ready to start sailing on my own. They offer sailing lessons on their adaptive sail boats for people with physical impairments, but they also offer sailing on standard sailboats. 9 hour classes run $250 and are spread over 3, 3-hour days where the first 30 minutes-1 hour is spent on land understanding the parts of the boat, knots, understanding the wind and the theory behind sailing. The last 2-2.5 hours are spent out on the water sailing. The boats are all well kept and in great working condition. The teachers are all great at explaining the material and helping everyone take turns doing everything on the boat. Each class only has 4 people, so there is plenty of personal attention. If you're interested in learning to sail, the Chicago Park District offers amazing programs right here on the lakefront that you should check out. A great way to spend the summer!
