One is for small dogs (with a specific weight restriction) and older, low energy dogs. The other is for dogs of all sizes, so it is typically larger dogs. Our 12ish pound cavapoo likes both park options. There are always dog bowls and access to running water. In the summer, there are little plastic pools for the dogs to cool off in. While my dog doesn't love the pool option, he does appreciate the water bowls! Most of the dog parents that bring their fur babies to the park are very friendly and respectful.

Kitchens lane has been a point of contention for years now. I see community posts about dog beach and dog meet ups at kitchen lane. I would like to see signs or notice reenforcing the rules of the Wissahickon creek. Dogs are to be on a leash at all times 6ft maximum. I have had countless amount of hostile interactions with Dog owners explaining the rules. I have 3 small children that I fish with at Kitchens lane with. 1st for the protection of my children dogs should be on a leash , 2nd I purchase a fishing license every year. Which permits me to fish in the wissahickon creek. Please correct me if I am wrong. There is no such permit or license which allows dog owners to let there dogs roam freely thru the Wissahickon or Fairmount park. Again I understand everyone want to enjoy nature. However there are rules in place for people's protection & enjoyment. I am simply asking these rules to be enforced

Plenty of space, the only time I see a real crowd here is during a sporting events...not the Eagles, but youth soccer practice, volleyball tournaments, or something similar...otherwise there is generally plenty of room here to walk your dog, stretch your legs or just kick back and read a book. My favorite thing to do here is grab lunch and sit in the picnic area relaxing on my lunch hour. Can be hard to go back to work on a gorgeous day, but well worth it in my book! There is one "not recommended" review...I have no idea what this person is talking about, this park is VERY well maintained. I have been coming by more often with my cavapoo pup now that we live closer. There are often a number of dogs there regardless of the time of day you visit. In my experience, other dogs owners have been attentive and responsive to their dogs when there are outbursts of aggression. There are always available poop bags, the running water is always working, and there is plenty of space for the dogs to run around. There are also signs around the park advertising for local dog related businesses, as well as a QR code to scan so you can make a membership donation to keep the park as beautiful as it is now! Be sure to enter from the alley street between the back of Acme and the park. There is a set of gates there where you can enter the park with your dog!

We had been observing this staff member during our time there. She was neglecting her duties and harassing the dogs while they were playing. She clearly did not understand how dogs play together and could not judge between what was acceptable and unacceptable playing. While walking past this staff member, she used profanity to insult our dog. I was in complete shock. How could she and how dare she call my son such a word! Any dog parent would be furious. Anyway, she did not realize the mother of this dog was next to her and had heard what she said. When my husband and I confronted her, she was speechless. We escalated the issue to management, and I was able to speak with the Chief Operating Officer. She was super understanding and informed me that they would address the issue with that staff member. She also asked that we not let this one experience deter us from returning to Bark Social. We definitely weren't going to come back to Bark Social that soon; we needed some time to get over this horrible experience. Fast forward to one weekend in August 2023, we decided to give Bark Social Manayunk another shot. We had a much, much better experience this time around. So much better, we came back again 2 weeks later. And we plan on coming back again and again. That staff member, who we had an incident with, was not there. I don't know if she still works there, but we haven't seen her. There are also more staff members on the grounds now. These staff members conducted themselves professionally with humans and with dogs. They cared for all the dogs and were very gentle. I am incredibly happy with what I saw. Bark Social opens 7 days a week as early as 8am and as late as 9pm. I realized I prefer coming here with our dog in the mornings and sticking around for a couple of hours. FYI, they have a breakfast menu (I know it's not on their website). The food is what it is. It's all right. People don't come to Bark Social with the main purpose to eat anyway. They bring their dogs here to play, and if they get hungry, they don't have to leave to get food.
