Being a parent of a special needs child is challenging in many ways; but, my family appreciates the kindness, support and care of his/her BCBA and RBTs. Because of their evidence-based practices, my child has had the privilege to experience things many other parents would take for granted: enjoyable vacations, successful (and necessary) doctor appointments, the chance to interact positively with peers and the opportunity to increase his/her interactions with the world. I encourage potential families to reach out to the company, tour the facilities and speak to other parents, making their own decision for their child.

It is absolutely not a place I would ever send my child and I want other parents out there to know and be warned. The children who would go to this place are very vulnerable and may not be able to express what's wrong or what happened there and parents should take extra precautions when entering this facility if they take the risk and allow their child to be in the care of that woman who owns it. The rbts aren't trained effectively and are put to work independently with clients before they've taken and passed their exam to be certified. They claim to be a hands off facility, yet they put clients in holds (improperly) when they deem necessary and since that's the case, they shouldn't advertise themselves as a hands off facility if they are not absolutely hands off. The owner is unprofessional and went as far as using the name of an individual she fired to write countless emails and left voicemails defaming this persons character to the parents. I've never known of any place where a boss or owner names a person they've fired and has gone out of their way to speak negatively about them to the clients parents, regardless of their reasoning behind it. It absolutely violates that persons right to privacy. Again, I want to reiterate that I'm exercising my first amendment right to voice my views and experience with this place. My advice, take your child anywhere else.

We were very excited to have gotten in and joined this school. But quickly discovered that the…read moreschool was not willing to deal with and help our son who was in the prek classroom. He went through a phase of behavioral issues and instead of dealing with them, the school kindly asked us to stop coming, even though we had paid tuition through the year (which was not refunded). After some meetings about what we were going to do and them about moving forward they had no plan in place and it became very evident that they love the students, but only if they are easy for them. They treated us all very badly and made our 4 year old extremely confused. Stefanie was less than desirable to work with and had her puppet Rae do all of her dirty work for her. After two months of not "inviting" our son back after we were working with him at home and a child therapist, we decided to pull him out indefinitely. Would not recommend this very yuppie school to anyone. Kids need guidance and help and if you want them to fail you like they did us, then by all means sign them up. Good luck.

My family lived in Columbus, IN for three years, when I was in 2nd - 4th grade. Because the local…read morepublic schools had a poor reputation, my parents enrolled me in the elementary school at ABC Stewart and my brother in the pre-school. Although I was pretty young at the time and only attended for a few years, I look back at ABC Stewart as being an amazing experience that has positively impacted me in adulthood. ABC Stewart's elementary school is a small, intimate environment. The years I attended the total population ranged from 60 to 90-something students, and the younger grades usually had more people than the older grades. This allowed for a highly personalized learning environment. Although the default was to be grouped by grade, Stewart School allowed us to learn at our own pace. For example, I was ahead of my grade in spelling and English classes, so I was allowed to work with the higher grades for those periods. For math and science, where I was grade level, I returned back to my peers. ABC Stewart is not a true Montessori school but uses many Montessori aspects. We had traditional classes part of the day, but the other part (the fun half!) was independent study. In independent study we could travel from classroom to classroom and learn the subject of our choice. (There was a system in place to make sure kids didn't spend all the time in one subject.) I loved independent study and feel the system instills an enjoyment of learning I didn't get when I was older and in public schools. ABC Stewart Elementary is truly a nurturing and caring environment with great teachers who genuinely love their jobs. Mrs. Carmichael, the founder, is a visionary who is committed to the students, parents, and keeping the school great. If you're stuck in the Columbus area and have kids, I would definitely send them here.

The environment is nurturing and allows students to properly grow and develop. The preschool is a great program for easing children into the school environment with flexible scheduling. This school is safe and all of the staff are unbiased and understanding. My time at the school I felt safe, protected, and heard. The only issue was the inaccecisbility to counseling. Students have lots of fun learning oppurtunities. Several field trips a year for all grades, fishing, tie dye, gardening. The school is based on the acronym EARTH which stands for; environment art resources technology and health. There are plenty of unique diverse visitors who share their culture with the grades. In first grade we learned how to speak swahili. The spanish class helps students train their brains with a more engaging course. Students learn the value of friendship and how to build strong relationships. Unionville is an amazing school with awesome teachers. Go arrows!
