Nobody helped direct me on counseling services for the LGBTQ+ who have been in a Domestic Violent Relationship. And end up homeless after paying for half the stuff and taking care of a $550,000 home right in my own community on Erie Rd where I would walk w my chihuahua and short hair pointer to the park of Roses and back home. I don't know what in the world is going on. I thought this establishment cared about the LGBTQ+ community. It has signs up that says all are welcome. Welp. It's not true! I mean. It's definitely better resources than we get on the West Side. Over here everyone just wants us not to exist in life.

The process was unnecessarily long, complicated, and frustrating from start to end. We were asked to fill out a form and provide an excessive amount of personal information, only for them to reach out 2 days later to schedule a meeting... which they canceled. Not once. Not twice. Three times. By the fourth attempt, we honestly should've taken that as a sign. When we finally made it to the Zoom call, we mentioned that we already have a cat, which we thought would help speed things up. Somehow, it did the opposite. We were told we had to submit our cat's vaccination records, and IF AND ONLY IF those were approved, we might be allowed to meet the kitten two weeks later, since she was in a foster home. At that point, we were done. We didn't send anything. Instead, we drove straight to the Humane Society. And what a difference. We walked in, met the most adorable kitten on the planet, petted her, filled out some basic paperwork, and were treated like normal, trustworthy people, not suspects under investigation. We walked out with our kitten in under two hours. This place was completely unserious, wildly inefficient, and a total waste of time.

I came on a weekday in the afternoon and was surprised to see the parking lot completely full so it took me a minute to find a spot. That said, when I walked through the doors the fun quickly began. The first thing I noticed was how big and organized the place is. Gone are the days of barely being able to sort through clothing because the aisles are packed too tight and there's too many items on the rack. Everything here is easy peasy. From the furniture and shoes to the homegoods and knick knacks everything had its place. While the prices were a little high compared to places like Goodwill, I wasn't mad about it because Volunteers of America has a great cause and the money raised truly goes back into the community. Supporting veteran services and mental health and recovery are just a few examples that I can really get behind. I ended up spending roughly $25 and walked away with a $200 pair of jeans, a nice pair of boots, glass bottles I've been meaning to buy but luckily found them here, as well as some nice glass decor that matches my living room perfectly. And they have amazing prices compared to other thrift stores. I ended up purchasing 4 things - a dresser, two chairs, and a coat 'tree'. An employee walks with you, marks what you want to buy, then checks you out. They will then help you load big pieces. Shout out to Seth & Wayne for being an amazing help to us on a busy weekend.

The life skills curriculum is taught by volunteer coaches and the lessons incorporate running and other physical activity. I really enjoyed volunteering for the Central Ohio chapter. The program director made us feel welcome and gave us clear guidance on our volunteer jobs. We got a lot accomplished and had the opportunity to learn more about this great organization. They sent us all home with cute swag bags which was much appreciated!

It was clear what services we needed and at what cost. The facility is very nice. They even have a room with a large TV to entertain young ones. The space can hold quite a few people for a service, and they have side rooms they can open up for even more space. The flowers we received that were purchased directly from the funeral home were very nice and stayed fresh for several days. The air conditioner did interfere with the sound system a bit, but it was simple to turn it off temporarily and it was already nice and cool anyway. The two staff members at the graveside were very helpful and respectful toward our needs and desires. I would absolutely recommend this funeral home and would use them again if needed.

Trying to think clearly during a time like this is very difficult. I had remembered when my grandparents passed away that Shaw Davis was used and I heard how great, easy to deal with and how affordable it was compared to other funeral homes in town. We choose Shaw Davis and we could it have been happier with our decision. The staff was very professional, polite and compassionate. They have packages that can be purchased which makes it super easy. However we had a very unique situation and they tailored a package to our needs. The total package was excellently priced. The viewing and service went really well. The room was very spacious and allowed for a lot of people, we also used the overflow rooms. The bathrooms were very nice, clean and also had a baby changing table. There was coffee and water for the guests. There was also a large room with a tv where little ones could hang out and play. The graveside service was perfect. There was 2 staff members that were on site to help with any needs and make sure everything was moving as planned. Sad as our situating was, we couldn't have been happier with Shaw Davis. I highly recommend Shaw Davis as their pricing is affordable, transparent and stress free.

They have provided clothing to over 750,000 children since the organization was founded. They started our volunteer experience with a tour of their facility. We got the chance to meet the exec director and several of the board members. All were very welcoming.
