I ordered the "four seasons" pizza which was pretty much just a bunch of fresh vegetables like bell peppers, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, etc. And it was a pretty large pizza for about 12,50E. Place de L'horloge is FULL of outdoor seating as it's one of the two large squares in Avignon with restaurants for hungry tourists. The service was typical French. Overall, it was a decent meal.

Went with the Marion burger which had Swiss cheese and bbq sauce with fries and tartare sauce on the side. I asked for medium rare, it was a little more rare for my liking but still good nevertheless. The bbq sauce was a change from what my American palette is used to on a typical burger. The fries were ok. Would I come back- yes to try the other burgers and see how they all differ. This place has peaked my interest.

Outside tables let you enjoy the late late light that lingers. Potatoes with chorizo were a classic tapas starter. We shared a charcuterie plate: jamón serrano, cornichons, various salamos, more Spanish chorizo. Also 2 soft cheeses, one like a mild bleu, along with what might have been an Emmenthaler. It was just right for us to nibble on along with a carafe of house rose. My friend tried the grilled giant prawns & said they were quite fresh. Dessert wasn't one of those exquisite preparations - just your basic molten chocolate lava cake. It will push up your blood sugar! Our dinner for 2 with 3 tapas plates, 2 desserts, a small wine, a 1/2 liter carafe, and one bottled water was €58.
Described as "fondant de chocolate" - these were little molten chocolate cakes with a créeme anglaise sauce. N

We were greeted and seated promptly, the order taken, wine arrived then the first course, a tasty spin on Spanish potato, ham and egg tortilla made in a muffin cup instead of a slice of a flat pancake. Our other first course was a shell fish soup, the cream was broken, overheated perhaps, it was garnished with three tiny mussels, nice taste, but disappointing. The dining rooms began to fill on a very busy on market day lunch time and the service by two nice young men slowed down to a trickle. The main dishes arrived, then no check back. The small fowl in casserole was overpowered by the rich cream sauce. OK desserts. Not a good value.

You wouldn't expect…read morethe city to have a great gelato joint (especially because it's so close to the large castle chapel), but this place proved me wrong! Gotta come here even though it is a bit touristy. I got the Rocher and Nutella flavors and absolutely loved both! First they let me try out different flavors, which I really appreciate! Furthermore, I really liked the gelato here because unlike many ice cream places in Europe, there was texture and crunch within the gelato! The traces of hazelnut in the rocher, as well as the small chocolate blend-ins within the Nutella flavor, were game changers. Otherwise, this place had some pretty standard tasty and creamy gelato =)
