I was desperate to get my hair done before New Years. Every natural hair salon I called in the area…read morewas booked. Luckily a stylist gave me the name of this salon and told me I may have luck here. She was right. I was able to set up an appointment immediately for the day I wanted. This salon is appointment only and only one customer in the shop at a time due to Covid. I was a little skeptical at first about booking with this salon because it is new (just opened in June) and has no reviews. However, all my fears were eased once I met the owner and she started working on my hair. She is so knowledgeable about natural hair and that was refreshing because she talked me through every step of my session. She asked me questions about how I typically maintain my hair, what styles I wear, how frequently I wash my hair. She gave me suggestions about how to better manage my hair and products to use in my hair. She was so incredibly gentle with my hair through the wash and blow dry process. I usually start to cringe during the detangling process because previous hair stylists have been overly rough with my type 4c hair. However she knew exactly how to work with my hair and ensure a smooth session. Once my hair was fully blown out, she informed me that I had a lot of split ends that needed to be trimmed. She gave me a mirror and let me see exactly what she was taking off. We ended up cutting about 1-2 inches, which was more than what I had initially anticipated but I am all about healthy hair over length. She told me to continue coming in for more frequent trims (every 8 weeks or so) and I will get my hair to waist length in no time. After the trim, she did two strand twists. They look great and I can't wait to take them out in a few more weeks and rock my twist out. I will definitely coming back to this salon for my trims and whenever I decide to blow out my hair again.

My hair never holds a curl but it lasted all day. Second time I went for a trim and had Colleen again. She was able to squeeze me in on her lunch break and did a great job! She was very professional and gave me tips on how to style my hair different ways. I definitely recommend this place. You can't beat the price either. Male sure you ask for Colleen. She'll only be there for another couple months!

For years I've been working in salons and wanted to pursue the life of hair. On my journey I…read morediscovered a school named Toni & Guy located in Worcester, MA. Before jumping into enrollment, I went there as a client to have my hair done. Though I noticed the lack of diversity, I was pleased with the setting and how my hair was done. Though my client experience was decent, my student experience was horrible. After my first 3 months, Toni & Guy was starting to become a regret. Because of how small the school is, I expected all 20 students and the 6 instructors to become family after awhile, but my experience was the complete opposite. The instructors they have in place have no regard for the student body, resulting in a lot of students dropping out. The Director encourages discrimination, prejudice and bias behavior with no concern for the student. The staff use psychological tactics to target students, by bullying them on the floor in front of others and then accuse them of being disruptive. These factors became concerning because as students we are the glue of Toni & Guy. As a school they are receiving Government aid while discriminating on students, forcing them to drop out, hence their low graduation rate. Since beginning at Toni & Guy (4 months ago) I've witness 5 talented hair stylist of different ethnic backgrounds drop out because of how they were treated by staff and Director. I too have fell victum to their ruthless tactics and found myself in their web of write ups and exaggerated accusations. My experience at Toni & Guy has traumatized me. My passion, my drive and my confidence have been altered.
