Arriving in Alicante, we were looking for some good food and found this quaint little Colombian spot that had been recommended to us. Conveniently located right around the corner from our hotel, the place was clean, packed, and had a lively atmosphere.
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly and seated right away. Service was quick and friendly, and the food didn't disappoint. One colleague ordered the bandeja paisa which is a traditional Colombian dish that includes red beans, white rice, ground beef, chicharrón (fried pork belly), a fried egg, ripe plantain, arepa (cornbread), and sliced avocado.-- generous and authentic. Another colleague had the cazuela de mariscos (seafood soup), which was rich and flavorful. I went with the chicken soup, which was fantastic -- hearty, fresh, and perfectly seasoned.
We also tried the empanadas (beef and chicken), which were crisp and delicious, paired with a great Colombian hot sauce. Everything came out fresh. The lemonade was refreshing, a nice touch to complete the meal.
Overall, an great experience -- authentic, traditional Colombian flavors in a warm, family setting. Highly recommended if you're in Alicante and craving a taste of Colombia. read more
