I first encountered Collins Law Group about 10-15 years ago at a seminar in Inglewood. I didn't join at that time thinking that I could get the same service through my employer legal coverage. Boy was I ever mistaken! My mom went through our employer legal and she got a 20 page document for her trust. That's it...And here we are 10-15 years later and now I'm finally ready to do my trust. Needless to say I ran... and I mean ran to Collins Law Group remembering the seminar I attended before. Right of the bat when you sign up you are greeted with a new video seminar by one of the young attorneys (Lioness) and her family (the kids are so cute too). I signed up hoping to get the attorney that did the presentation because she seemed really engaging! Let me tell you from the time I walked in the door everyone was so super attentive. In the attorney room they even have an special hand-calligraphied placard with your name welcoming you and a tray full of goodies and beverages set out for you! And this is every time you go in. Attorney Lioness was amazing! She put me at ease and even put up with my constant last minute changes about my beneficiaries. Needless to say no one was disinherited, but I even had a last minute change on the final day of signing (lol). She (Lioness) took it all in stride and made the adjustment. Again I can't say enough about this exemplary lawyer (Lioness) and the firm she works for. They allow you two months to pay for the trust (remember they are private) and unlike my mother's paltry 20 pages (through the employer paid legal) my final signing came with a personalized video dealing my decisions, a heavy binder with about 200 pages of details, a beautiful tote bag to carry it all in and a parting gift of a mug and some other things ;) In closing (and sorry this was so long) , but if I could recommend Lioness and the Collins Law Group any higher I would!!!!!!!! ONLY the INITIAL service is GREAT. Heaven help you if you need to do anything a few years after that. I paid $6000 for my Revocable living trust. NOW they want another $3,500 to basically change the pages of beneficiaries with the pages that I emailed to them. On a computer this would not take more than TEN minutes. It only took me 20 minutes to type it up myself from scratch using the original document as a template. I don't see ANY OTHER reviews of what happens a few years down the road. So, let me warn you - That is when you get treated like trash! I had to make several calls to get them to correct a clerical error THEY had made in my original document. (They had put the name of another client instead of mine upon whose death my charitable donation should be made.) I left numerous messages before anyone called me back. Something that should have been handled quickly required way too much effort on my part. NOW, I see what I did wrong. I should have charged them $3,000 for making the error that was CLEARLY just sloppy work on their part. Then there was the Email that that I kept getting from them with the title "No Time to Wait? Learn How to Update Your Trust in Our Free On-Demand Webinar". I got this email at least six times. When I clicked on it, there was absolutely NOTHING to do with updating your trust. I called the office to find out "what's up?" No reply. I sent an email. When I finally got a response to my email about this seminar, I got a reply from them saying there is no such video available - yet. When I got the same email about a week later - alerted the them and they assured me that I WOULD be REMOVED FROM THE LIST. Nothing was mentioned about removing this inaccurate email completely from others. I recently asked "Is it done yet?". I was told It is coming soon! read more

Attorney Caprice Collins has a one size fits all approach to her webinars and attempts to illicit Fear Uncertainty & Doubt. Her video is outdated stating that many are dying from COVID 19. Hello that was in 2020. We're in 2025. Then goes on to say we're living in uncertain times to illicit more fear. Her mailers advertising the Collins Group living trust also attempts to make you afraid to use Legal Zoom, a well respected tool to create a Living Trust if you don't have an overly complicated situation. Atty Caprice Collins cheaply offers stale muffins, bruised bananas & weakly brewed coffee. Then calls it breakfast. Also at the seminar after they try to scare you by showing a drawing of the COVID 19 corona virus, they then mention Atty Caprice Collins took care of her mother before she died in her 90's. We get it, we're all gonna die. Then they mention 1,000 x's she went to Harvard Law. Okay. Gloria Allred, Esq, one of the best attorneys in the U.S. went to Loyola Marymount University a fine respected Local Law School. The Collins Law Group tries to scare you from going to any other Law firm but them. Save yourself from wasting your morning. Power up Legal Zoom. 99% chance you'll be fine. I only went to this company several years ago to get my trust updated since a friend recommended them. I dont' recall the exact figure but it was expensive to get it done. Fast forward to March 2020, I decided to have a few items changed on my trust and contacted them. They said it would cost $2500-$4500 for changes!!!!! I said that was unreasonable for simple changes. So look elsewhere, simple changes to a trust should not cost $2500-$4500. Ps: Please note that most of these 5 star ratings are ONLY based on seminars that this group presents. read more

This group is very unprofessional. They don't respond in a timely fashion, staff members contradict each other in what they tell you, they lack professionalism, accountability, and customer service. Also, they setup their trusts in a manner that requires you to spend thousands of dollars to actually access the assets in the trust. They are just trying to line up future revenues for themselves at the cost of your family. The attorney is the sales woman you probably won't see her again after you write your check. After that, the unprofessional staff are the only ones you will hear from and there's no telling how quickly/slowly they will get back to you, if ever. I went to Mrs. Collins seminar on the first of November. The seminar lasted for three hours. l learned about an educated lady who wears more than one hat to assist her clients that comes to her law firm. She is down to earth and she is very serious .Mrs. Collins really wants to help people in her community in protecting their assets by helping people make the right decisions. I am a real estate broker. I like to go to seminars and read about current events to stay sharp in my profession and to protect my company and clients. I learned something at Collin's law firm about Medi-cal, State Recovery. I did not know, if you need long term care and Medi-cal pays for the time you are in a hospital, when or if you pass away, California State , Estate Recovery Department will file a law suit against you and take take your assets which might includes your home, if your heirs can not come out of their pockets and pay them. I did not know that....and I do not think there are to many people who do. I truly believe that the cost to protect your assets should be based upon the amount of assets you have accumulated over the years....not a flat fee no matter what amount of assets you have. The cost for a Living Trust, for most people, they would have to take out a loan. Overall, Collin's Law Firm seminar was very informative, free and a blessing. read more

I received a general flyer, via-postal service, that highlighted The Collins Law Firm and their emphasis on Trust, Will and Estate Planning. I have been anxiously waiting for this seminar for quite some time to learn more information. I'm currently an African American homeowner in the Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw/Leimert Park area of Los Angeles for the past 15 years. I STRONGLY advocate and patronize Black-owned businesses; especially, in regards to financial planning for the future of my family and myself. Today, as I entered the Collins Law Firm to attend their bi-weekly Will, Trust and Estate Planning seminar, the two receptionists were quite pleasant. Since my administrative assistant did not complete the registration, they prompted me to sign in and take a seat. Within five minutes of the seminar beginning, the owner abruptly approached me, quite rude I might add, and shared SHE felt I looked sick and should wear a mask immediately. I quickly responded, "I'm not sick, I assure you". Aggressively, she requested I wear a mask, again. Keep in mind, the three others attending the seminar DID NOT wear masks. Later, the tone of her voice escalated to the point as the conversation became quite embarrassing. Then, she shared, "I have no time for this. You need to leave, NOW!". After I left the building, I sat in my car for a few minutes, then returned back. I approached her and said "I'm willing to wear the mask. Can you wear one as well so we can protect each other?" As I tried to compromise, she kept overtaking me and treating me as an adolescent. Later, she quickly went around the desk, aggressively grabbed the office phone and threatened to call the police. When I left the building, her son approached me with a sincere apology. Moments later, his mother, the owner of the law firm, demanded he return back to the building and let me leave immediately. As an African-American, I'm extremely disappointed. I'm hurt because our culture constantly battle the reality of systematic oppression against the powers that be. We should not be fighting nor degrading between our own people. She had no idea of the following: - I exceed over the average American salary in regards to financial stability; - One of the few well-established African Americans in the Hollywood Industry; - International connections that could possibly become new clients; and - Good-hearted African American who wanted to utilize her establishment. I'm taking my business elsewhere and encourage you all to do the same. NO ONE should receive this type of treatment. As a lawyer, listening is priority. Her actions demonstrated the "if you don't do what I tell you" attitude as oppose to upholding the needs of her client. As you navigate throughout Yelp, their reviews are based on their seminars NOT their service. I hope Collins Law Firm read this review and respond. If they do, please respond with an apology for the following: - Contributing to the oppression and destruction of the African American male; - Refusing to uphold your motto, "Plan Today for Peace of Mind Tomorrow: Be the Ancestor Your Family Admires"; - Wrongfully accusing the innocence based on your fears as opposed to truth; and - Host seminars with the intent to educate your community and not hoping to seek financial gains through the vulnerable.
