I came into today during my visit to Milwaukee to pick up some comics I've been searching for for years. John was super patient and looked for every single comic I asked for thoroughly. The comics I bought were in mint condition and some of them were total steals! I was shocked to get a comic worth almost $50 for just $15. This was the most organised comic book store I've ever been to and I really appreciated the cozy atmosphere. I also loved that they had a nice comfy couch for my parents to relax on while I was getting my comics. Would totally recommend this spot if you're hunting for specific comics!! read more

Going to Collector's Edge makes me miss my old favorite comic shop in Seattle. It just looks, feels, and even smells like a great comic shop. I went in twice while visiting family in Milwaukee, and both times walked out of Collector's Edge with unexpected surprises and long sought-after additions to my collection. I was especially happy that, while they certainly carry plenty of the standard superhero comics from Marvel and DC, there's also an excellent selection of the independent titles I tend to prefer. And perhaps my favorite thing - to find the good stuff, you should be willing to hunt a bit. While I'm sure the staff would be only too happy to help point you in the direction of something you're looking for, if you have the time to explore for yourself Collector's Edge will reveal its many treasures to you. So while Zanadu, my old favorite place to shop for comics in Seattle, closed its doors years ago, it's good to know that good old-fashioned comic shops like Collector's Edge keep their tradition going. read more

I'll preface this by saying this is a super clean store with a lot of selection on newer books, trade paper backs, and compendiums. I came in to look for a few back issues I am missing, but the back issue long boxes are packed so tight it's impossible to go through them. I couldn't even get a single book out of one of them. So if you're looking for this week's arrivals it's the perfect shop if you're looking for back issues... good luck. read more

Will never go here again!!! First off, the lady behind the counter was cold and rude, she lacks any and all interpersonal communication skills. After deciding on a comic, we go to counter to purchase it and it comes to $5, and surprise you have to spend at least $10 to use any type of payment that is not cash. I've heard of $3 limits, even $5 limits, never $10! If you don't like your rates find another credit card processor, don't pass your dissatisfaction on to your possible customers! We've been to many comic book shops and this is by far the worse and the first to have a minimum purchase policy! read more

Limited back issue stock at this location, it all seems to be kept elsewhere. That's not the key issue, however. The staff here is bordering on hostile. They're not particularly knowledgeable, and when I wanted to ask about more obscure titles, the staff person interrupted me and told me to hurry up and get to the point. After I briefly described what I was looking for, he came around from behind the counter, looked at the shelves I had already searched through for about 30 seconds, came back and told me what I was looking for didn't exist. I've never been happier to take my business elsewhere. Comic shops should be friendly community spots that encourage discovery and conversation, not hostile friends-only clubs filled with dismissive and rude staff. Above all, comic shops should be FUN. I felt embarrassed and judged when I left this place. I will warn everyone who will listen to stay away. I wish this place would go out of business and make room for a real community comic spot in Bay view. read more

My experience seems to vary from the other reviews I've read. The inventory was up-to-date and fresh. The store was clean and well organized and everything seemed to be in order. But the staff was not helpful at all. I walked in and was not acknowledged as an employee behind the counter was talking with someone sitting on the couch. I was not greeted, asked if I needed anything, or given a second glance. Only when I went to the counter was my presence acknowledged. The woman behind the counter told me how much my purchase was, gave me my change and that was it. I am highly disappointed with the lack of professionalism with the particular staff member I encountered. Otherwise the business as a whole seems to be doing well. read more

Now THIS is what a comic book shop should be. Collector's Edge is well-stocked with a great selection of comics, graphic novels, anthologies, manga and sweet toys. The staff is really friendly, and totally non-condescending towards the newbie comic reader. read more

They have a good selection of comics and a fair selection of graphic novels. The owner and staff are super friendly and really seem to enjoy what they do. The selection of collectibles, figurines and toys is very small. That is the one area that needs improvement. read more

Basing my review off purchases, sells and interactions with the management and employees here. Rating a one star for the lack of knowledge of their collection of magic cards but also price by most of their staff. Bought a Chrome mox that was clearly not mint but was sold as mint. Also, no receipts are given. Selling cards here I do not recommend as well. Sold about $180 of cards here and the condition didn't matter the price of the cards didn't even matter. A solid $30 was given based off what the manager thought their value was. You are better off going to Pink Bunny in south Milwaukee, Citadel games in 76th and Bradley, Battle Brothers in West Allis or even Board Game Barrister. Moral of this is, you have many other options if you can do the commute. This place shouldn't be an option. read more

Stopped in yesterday. We're from out of town, but I always like to look up local comic shops and see what they have. There was a great selection of Marvel and DC titles, as well as a really nice selection of indie titles. They also had a pretty big selection of trade paperbacks. A bigger selection than I'm used to seeing in my area, for sure. We talked to who I assume was the owner when we walked in. Very friendly and talkative. My mom sat on their big, comfy couch and talked to him while I looked around. The store is very clean, and well organized, plus the staff were decently friendly, and welcoming to us. If I lived in Milwaukee, this would be my comic book store, for sure. read more

My granddaughter has shown an interest in comic books so I said I know where we can go. We walked in shortly after I checked hrs. 1till 4. Granddaughter was in heaven only took her 15 or 20 min. to find 2 comics. We started looking at the collectables. There was a cleark in there, but she didn't pay us any attention did not acknowledge us,so we were just looking and talking having a pleasant time . I heard the clerk mumble something asked her to repeat,she said very rudely do you want to check out. She had a very aggravated look on her face so we did. She followed us to the door and locked it behind us . This was before 2oclock. Hrs. posted till 4. I don't know what her problem was but she was extremely rude. Could have been a lot nicer. Not the way to act when you work retail, especially when it is supposed to be a fun or interesting place as I expected this place to be. I gave one star only because granddaughter was so happy with the comics she found otherwise zero stars. read more

I'm unfamiliar with this shop (and apparently it's a chain) - being an out of towner from Chicago, I've noticed there aren't all that many options in Milwaukee for comics. Collector's Edge seems up to date on all of the latest titles coming out each week (kudos for the huge Brightest Day poster hanging up promoting the latest Green Lantern crossover) and have a shockingly decent section of manga (an entire wall devoted to it). Most comic shops find japanese and general asian comics a bit too weird and as such will only stock the common ones (and even those can be found in stock with a number which can be counted on one hand if lucky), so seeing these guys actually stocking a decent selection to go alongside the big two and the myriad of american indies is refreshing. If I were living on Kinnickinnic, this place would probably be where I'd have my pull list set up (not that I'd have much choice since again, Milwaukee runs sparse on comics shops). The staff on hand were nice enough as well and willing to help us find what we were looking for as well - overall this is a solid place to stop into for those who are into word bubbles and such. read more

This shop seemed to be extremely well stocked with graphic novels. The practically wallpapered all the walls with shelves of graphic novels. Also had a wide range of new issues. Back issues are oddly only behind the counter, and while it seemed like they had a good amount, there didn't seem to be a ton of back issues for people who want the older stuff. The other odd thing is that there was no bargain bin or discount section. Everything was full price. But its a clean store with a good layout and friendly, helpful staff. I'd go back. read more

I have been going to collectors edge for over 25 years because they have the best selection of back issues and they greatly support local creators. I prefer to shop the comic racks without any staff assistance and yet they are very helpful when I need info. Being a locally owned, independent business that brings value to the community, I understand that non cash purchases will require policies to offset the credit card transfer fee. Yes, they can shop for better service fees on cc transactions, but you can never escape the gouging any transfer fee will impose. Be a considerate person, bring cash if you buy 1 comic, don't support evil credit card companies with small purchases. I'm not acquainted with the owner,not for or against him, but it's unfair to give negative comments when a good business is attentive to financial details. They are merely being smart. Independent businesses make the community unique. The girl working there is darn knowledgeable about comics. These negative comments about her are coming from only women. I think some of these reviews are akin to an "Orange County Wives" mentality. Be understanding and a little less sensitive. Remember, reading comics boosts the literacy skills that kids need. Comic shops advance young minds and drive passion for art and literature. The schools and households don't seem to be cutting it at creating passion for reading. Get books to the kids, don't seek the pie in the sky from a comic shop. The place is a mind enrichment portal. But be aware,large comic companies are used to socially program kids. Look at what the children buy... this is said for any comic book. I go to their new years sale,visitors are allowed to go into the private collection downstairs. The sale is truly great, 30% off a mint 40 yr old comic...you're are not gonna find this anywhere. Shop around other comic shops, you won't find any better in Milwaukee. read more
