We had work done 4 years ago (solid fuel central heating system) all seemed to go well and they were clean and tidy. Last year we had trouble with the lights in the house as the fuse kept tripping (it is an old property and due a rewire) we were having an extension built and employed an electrician for the extension work and the rewire. The reason the lights kept tripping out were because coles for fires had laid the central heating pipes on top of the electric wires! These had melted over time and made the central heating system live! We decided to stay clear of coles, extended the house and left it at that. Due to the extension we now needed a bigger stove, we contacted a different HETAS approved company. They have given me a report today of everything that Coles for Fires had done wrong and would now cost us to put right. It is an extensive list but most worrying is the substandard (not approved) tank in the loft which could split at any time potentially bathing the room below (my daughters) in scalding water! Also the lack of seal on the flu meaning the lounge filled with carbon monoxide every time we used the fire! The list goes on. My honest advice stay well clear. read more

Coles Fires fitted our multi stove in Sept 09, send us a letter to come and sweep the chimney (this year) then Coles have to then cancel due to moving to a new unit in Kettering. So I booked another chimney sweep and was told that my stove had been fitted wrong so I went back to Coles shop 5/11/11 and spoke to lady in shop, show her my booklet with a picture of the stove they had sold me and also a receipt showing that I had brought the stove from Coles Fire of Kettering and that they had also fitted the stove, she said that she believe that the bolts inside the fire had welted together to stop the chimney sweep from being able to remove plate to be able to sweep the chimney, I said that fire should not be made this way as they all get hot inside when you are burning wood and cold. I am now waiting to speak the manager director on Monday morning if I don't hear by 10.30am or I will coming into your shop again on Monday. read more
