As I browsed the shelves, I quickly discovered that I was a special independent bookstore and felt a certainly literary nirvana that I had last experienced at Powell's Books in Portland. The selection was thoughtfully curated and was strong with the Canadian Author force. Around every corner was a new thought-provoking discovery and a desire to linger and explore further. Tall blonde person who seems to think it's alright to gossip about his personal life - audible to all in the shop. On multiple occasions have been served without so much as a crack of a smile, a thank you (after tipping well and spending over $20), and on top of that, will whisper things like "he's been here all day". Has made me and others feel uncomfortable even being there many times. My advice to the owner: If someone clearly doesn't like customer service or ALL people in general, maybe a forward-facing job that should require basic human politeness at the very least isn't something that person should be doing. Other than that, Bell's is a fantastic place.

So basically their Barnes and Noble or Borders. But in this case/location, without the coffee shop. I've looked up Indigo bookstores since coming back and this is one of their smaller locations. Very small, but very pretty. The photos don't do them justice. There is, however, a boba place across the hallway. XD And this particular location is on the 1st floor of the CORE Shopping Centre. They have a door leading out onto 8th Avenue as well as the entrance leading into the mall itself. X3 The employees were very nice when I asked my questions, and I was super excited at the prices (considering conversion rates at the time). Most of their titles are the more current and popular ones, and there's even a section devoted to the titles popular on bookstagram. But also, MANGA! CORE Shopping Centre is definitely someplace you want to come to visit, explore, and hang out in. If you're visiting Calgary, I would definitely recommend visiting since it's so big, has so many things, and is just gorgeous. Seriously, the top floor is an entire garden. And in that respect, this Indigospirit is perfect because this scenic center is exactly the kind of place where I would like to buy a book along with a snack or drink and then settle down to read for a good part of the day. X3 Side note, we only saw restrooms on the third floor, there are two parkades and the first three hours were free on the weekend, and (if you're interested) Indigospirit's book selection can also be found on the Indigo bookseller website. Chapters / Indigo provides a prime example of hiring policies where incompetents run the show. Simple story and short. I placed an online order. They charged me. Fine. Three weeks later I had to go looking (the online rigamarole) to see whether my book was ready to be picked up. It had been there for two weeks. Did I receive an e-mail notification or even a telephone call? No. When I wrote a note of complaint, they simply cancelled my order. Idiots. One simple transaction, not rocket science. Wouldn't be a big surprise it they go out of business. They've certainly lost mine.
