For my first ever visit to Tuscaloosa, AL, I attended the massive primetime game between Alabama…read moreand hated rival Georgia this past Saturday, October 10th, 2026. This was the weekend that Hurricane Isaias was sweeping through the southwest region of the country and it was debatable whether the game would even be played. But with enough good luck, the hurricane passed by earlier in the overnight/morning of the game, leaving just some light mist lingering around. I was very grateful to be here for this monumental rivalry between Alabama and Georgia. Prices were going for $300ish, but because of the weather...I bought a ticket on two days before kickoff for only $165. Because both Georgia and Alabama were undefeated and ranked inside the Top 10, ESPN's College Gameday showed up on campus, though they hosted the show inside Alabama's basketball arena...Coleman Coliseum. I woke up at 8am and went over to Coleman Coliseum for the final 2 hours of Gameday. It was actually pretty cool being inside because normally Gameday gets crammed within the heart of campuses and there's barely ever room to maneuver through the crowds. So sitting inside a 20,000 seat arena turned out to be a blessing in disguise. At the end of Gameday, I even got a selfie with host, Rece Davis! Now onto this mecca of college football known as Bryant Denny Stadium... The outside of it has an amazing backdrop! If you stand at the beginning of the "Walk of Champions", there's an awesome sign saying...Saban Field - at Bryant Denny Stadium. It is the perfect photo opportunity. Then there's the "Walk of Champions" heading towards the front entrance. On the right-hand side are 5 statues from Alabama's incredible coaching lineage including names like...Nick Saban, Gene Stallings and Bear Bryant. For this 6:30pm (Central Time) game, they actually allowed fans inside Bryant Denny by 4pm, a full 2 hours and 30 minutes for me to walk around and explore. This place is enormous. Bryant Denny seats 100,000 fans. I had a ticket in Section 814 on Alabama's side of the stands and yet the views were fine from high above. There actually may not be a bad seat in the house. Surprisingly, I was able to walk around the entire upper deck section of the bowl. Normally, other stadiums have zigs and zags and closed off areas that fans can't walk through. But not here at Bryant Denny. I was able to walk a full 360 degrees. Granted, there wasn't much to see, the stadium is very simple. But I will say though...looking down on the field and the entire bowl, it's an impressive setting. Bryant Denny opened in 1929 and appeared in good condition. And I believe with 100,000 seats, that makes this the 8th largest stadium in college football. Extra about the experience... - They played "Sweet Home Alabama" before kickoff. - Fans cheer..."roll tide, roll....a lot! - I was expecting fireworks for this night game in front of a national audience against Georgia, yet there were none when Alabama entered onto the field or even after they scored a touchdown. The stadium relies on a very modern LED lighting system. They just turned out the lights often and colored the entire bowl in a crimson tone. - For being in the upper deck, there was actually a back to my seat rather than a bleach bench. So...fans in my section sat for most of the game. That was unusual for a big-time game like this against Georgia. I figured everyone would be standing, which often happens at other schools I've been to. - Halftime was just Alabama's Million Dollar Band performing. Otherwise, there was no drone show or (like I said earlier) or any fireworks set off. - Alabama's iconic musical song...Dixieland Delight was played at the 2-minute timeout in the 4th quarter which was a bit of a letdown. That was strange because the game was pretty much over and Alabama fans were filing out of the stadium. There wasn't that crowd enthusiasm I was anticipating for the song. I'm surprised they didn't play Dixieland Delight at the end of the 3rd quarter/start of the 4th quarter. Most schools play their musical anthems during this time. - Overall, Bryant Denny got very loud and stayed at a fever pitch most times throughout the game with it being closely contested. Georgia ended up winning the game 20 - 17. Unfortunately, the referees missed a would-be pass interference penalty against Georgia that would have put Alabama into prime position for scoring the go-ahead touchdown. Regardless of the no-call, either team could have easily won this game. Finally, sitting here and reflecting back on it all, I had a fun time, but it wasn't the best college game experience I've had. Still, Bryant Denny Stadium is one of the most elite venues in college football. It's located on campus, right in downtown Tuscaloosa and is the focal point of this historic college football town. A player had hit a ball a little past us and my son jogged over there to see if they would toss it up to him and the security guard immediately got disrespectful with my son. We continued to watch the game when my son walked over there to see if the player warming up the outfielder would toss it up and the security guard again proceeded to get nasty and rude with my son and talked to him like he was poop on the bottom of someone's shoe and then proceeded to say something again as my son was walking away and almost back to our seat. Take the game in from the bleachers, seat back chairs, or bring your own chair and sit in the brickyard and catch a home run ball. There is nothing like the excitement of a Bama softball game. Find out when there are giveaways or days when the team comes for pictures and autographs. There is a real culture here for the players to appreciate the fans and especially for the players to encourage the next generation of softball players.

I've been to the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City (for a Bama game, of course), and this place is right on par with it, despite not having quite the seating capacity. Bama regularly leads the country in attendance with this venue, and is easily one of the best in the country, when it comes to any softball facility, particularly an on-campus venue. The stadium has hosted many NCAA Regionals and Super Regionals, and played host to some big games. Seating is plenty, and there's honestly not a bad seat in the house. The arena is located conveniently on the UA campus, just off of Hwy 82, a few blocks from the men's baseball stadium. Much of the main seating area is covered by a really nice canopy as well. Oh, and it's the home of the NCAA Champion Crimson Tide (yes, the softball team wins titles as well!).

The Amphitheater was awesome. Nestled in the heart of the downtown area it is truly a great venue. Not a bad seat in the house, lots of food and drink options, entry was simple getting out was easy! I called the receptionist to make the appointment and asked for a morning appointment. She gave me the option of 9:15, 10:15, and 2:15. I asked for the 10:15 time slot. When we arrived at 10:15 it turns out the receptionist made the mistake of booking the 2:15 appointment time instead of the 10:15. We drove over an hour for the appointment and told the receptionist the situation and how there must have been a miscommunication on both ends. She refused to try and work with us and just said you have to come back at 2:15. She did not ask the doctor or nurses if they could squeeze us in because there had been a miscommunication on both ends. After the experience at Demopolis and now at Tuscaloosa I could never recommend UMC to anyone. I asked to transfer my child's records to another facility that day. As a healthcare professional myself I know that miscommunications can happen and you try to work with your patients. I will not be recommending any of my future patients use UMC.

This facility had a wide variety of experiences for the children to have and things for them to learn about. Also the staffing levels were very appropriate for the number of people in the building. As is the case at home for many parents, the simplest things get the biggest reaction from kids. On our visit, the two favorite things were the box maze and the wind tunnel. What a fantastic idea to use all boxes to build a maze. We spent a good bit of time in this, and it allowed the kids to play hide-and-go-seek. The wind tunnel made a great exercise, trying to get all the small white balls out while the other kids kept putting them back in. This is a great place to take your kids for a couple of hours, and let them explore and learn.
